Jerry, You said your dad caught a trout. You should have told us it was 3 feet long. I want to pan & fish with you really bad but cannot due to health and mobility issues. Everywhere you go is so gorgeous. If I could only turn back the clock at least half my age. I would be ready to go as fast as I could get my vacation time OK’d by my supervisor!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST.

when u have dirt with lots of clay like that , put some water in the bucket with the dirt and break the clay up with yr hands or a stick or something , then u can run it through a sluice no problems

Also, I think the reason you have so few subscribers is because you have so many long videos. Personally I think they are excellent and I would hate to see you change your format just for more subscribers, but another part of me thinks you really deserve better. Hey! Watched this video last night. At around 6:45, I believe it was your Dad that found an old spoon. So today, I go to my usual spot and guess what I end up finding? No joke, I found an old silver tea spoon made by Community. dates back to 1945 at it's earliest date but, looks older. So, here's what I want you to do next, find a big nugget! When you do, I'm hitting the river the next day, rain or shine. Eventually I going to put a video together. I mention you in it due to this video. Couldn't believe it!! What are the odds?

Lmao! I like your thinking with that one, the spoon he found was indeed sliver, no marking and very thin. Guessing 1930s ish. I went out to Adams spot today and killed it! I Ran so hard my body literally started locking up with cramps. Made the hike out kinda scary.. But I’m home and safe 😁

What me and some buddys used was a mud mixer blade for drywall mud on a cordless drill washes all the rocks and breaks up most the clay balls, but you need a siv bucket before your catch bucket. Drill 3/8 or1/4" holes in the siv bucket and use that to strain the material into the catch bucket

uncle had a claim on the middle fork of American river ! Rented channel 13 news helicopter to get in and out ! bears were a problem and would tear up the camp at times ! quit when gold profits could not cover helicopter costs ! we were getting gold ten feet up on river bank !

I wouldn't worry about using a 3 gallon bucket in your honey hole... they are faster to fill and lighter to carry back and forth all day. I love 3 gallon buckets... especially at my age! God I can't wait to get back home and bust brush in the Sierras again!!! 2 more months!! Unfortunately, by the time I get back home, I'll probably have to wait for Spring. :( Bob in Germany

@31:20 don’t know about you, but there’s not much I hate more than people trashing up nature. Hell, if I knew where that was and lived nearby I’d be down to organize a day cleanup with friends or GPAA or something. I grew up in the Sierras skiing, biking, hiking and rafting and I consider certain parts of it some of the most sacred land in the US. We gotta fight to keep douchebags from ruining it.

Great video thank you. Good-looking color great scenery I was more impressed with the Bob Bicycle Trailer on the Enduro bike. I pull that single track bike trailer behind the mountain bike to go where no motor vehicles are allowed

Thank you, yes the bob trailer is awesome I couldn't believe it held up to what we put them through. The sherpax trailers we ended up getting are the bees knees in our situation, it really opened the doors to what we can bring with.

,I used to live in Coloma/Lotus, done a ton of prospecting. Lived at Chili Bar for 8 years. Deer hunted up near where you are mining. Below a spot I used to hunt deer big hydraulic scars were below where we hunted. Won t say where exactly as you requested. Lived in Placerville as well. Been up in the Crystal Basin too Alder look out , Grossly Flat upper Consumes as well. Leek Springs lookout. Found my fair share of placer gold in the 20 years I lived and recreated up and down the Golden Chain aka hiway 49. Moved to FLA. Been to Dalonega Ga. And found some decent colors there too. Try some dream mat in a longer sluice . Also some water with a few drops of dawn detergent will break up that clay very effectively(Dawn is biodegradable) Just my ramblings, learned from a fellow from Coloma, his last name was Nobel,he learned from the remnants of the surviving 49ers in that area around Coloma! Keep you powder dry and watch your back, claim jumpers will Rob you otherwise.

@@californiamotherlodeprospect I have had a couple of fun times yes. I miss that part of the US, but not the political climate at all. I recall when they were building houses near folsum not far from highway 50 old dredger tailings big cobble. There was dryer clay balls in that stuff we collected as much as we could before being run off by security. That was some rich easy pickings soaked the clay in dawn water then panned it out in a big tub some great stuff for where it was

jay willow at the point of that txt I was only 1.5 months into it. I got way more then 37 grams. 100% your wrong cal is mined out. If your from cali and your not finding gold then take a look at my channel maybe you'll learn a thing or two about looking for it. I found gold from bottom to top and back again threw the state. Not only me but I invited plenty of people down to my spot. That they pulled plenty of grams out of as well. And they still are.

Gopro's cannot focus unfortunately, they are bad at close ups but perfect for carrying along on prospecting trips. My newest trips will have better close ups though

lol yes it takes so much time just to being to to into a place.. then feet on the grond just to make sure its even possible, a lot of times its not.. but the adventure is real and worth it!

Jerry, You always find the greatest, most picturesque places to pan. Only problem with this one is how cold the weather and WATER is. I don’t know how you do it in the poor weather. You sure sacrifice a lot for all your video watchers!!! We all enjoy sitting back and watching you prospect and come up with the mini nuggets or THE BIG ONES!!! 😍 Stay safe and warm.

great video. Are there any rules about driving through creek beds ? With respect to destruction of fish spawning habitat and other creatures ?

In a riparian environment yes, not sure how it would work as there are water crossings in these areas also, but the area you see in this video is void of life due to the extensive diversion of water for power projects. The flow changes all the time and due to this and the impacts of hydraulic mining prior the landscape is almost completely void of aquatic life.
