The famous "Gold Digger's Song" also known as "We're in the Money" is the opening number of another Warren/Dubin/Busby musical : "Gold Diggers of 1933".
This movie was a sequel to the 1929 talkie "Gold Diggers of Broadway" and starred roughly the same cast as "42nd Street".

"We're in the money" became one of the quintessential depression era songs.

This record was recorded with an Ortofon Om78cartridge and stylus in order to get an acceptable 78rpm playback. The equalization and restoration was done as truthfully as possible

I was playing Monopoly with my younger cousin day before yesterday and he asked me where the game came from. I told him that it was created during the Great Depression as a way for people to imagine that they were rich for a while. I immediately thought of this song as I said that and began whistling it, though I don't know if anyone noticed or recognized it.

Monopoly was actually created by a socialist woman to criticize the inherent issues of wealth inequalities that capitalism inevitably generates.

Hylton cut many good numbers. He was from the UK but many of his records fortunately were issued here in the USA.
