Gold Hill, Shaftesbury, England - above, on and below the famous hill 

Proud to be Shaftesbury’s Town Clerk and have offices at the top of Gold Hill. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job showing the beauty and tranquility of our lovely town.

As a Brit now living in tropical Asia this makes me nostalgic. I used to drive past Shaftesbury all the time with family but have never actually visited Gold Hill! The Lark Ascending brought a bit of a tear to my eye as it was played at my Mum's funeral.

As an Aussie, I had never heard of this place or anything things bout it. Even starting to view the video it was a complete unknown, but as you turned that corner my heart dropped, and instantly knew it was about the view. Utterly breathtaking. I didn’t know such beauty could exist, let alone become so organically.

Thank you so much for this. My dear mother (passed away 2015) last walked here in 1984. Tonight, just before Christmas day, I am taking that walk in her loving memory with your video ❤

I have always wanted to visit England. I love Cottages and Castles. I would feel so at home there. The view from the top of the road....simply breathtaking....and beautiful!

I absolutely love these old england cobbled steep roads are memories of gold. Still have some in places. But getting fewer as time goes on. True happiness and hardship kept families together.

I live in a beautiful village in Derbyshire England, as a child I liked it, as a teenager I hated it, but as a adult i absolutely love it, could not imagine living anywhere else ♥️

English countryside is very beautiful and serene. Whenever I got time over the weekends I used to head out to one of these places. Nostalgic 💓

I visted Shaftsbury 20 years ago, during a tour of beautiful Dorsetshire, mainly to see this famous hill--and the magnificent view from the top, of course. Finding it then, wasn't over easy, I was very surprised to learn that the access was via a narrow entrance out of the High Street, almost hidden away. I also visited nearby Sherborne, and, even today, I get mixed up with both these charming historic towns.

I visited many years back England as an exchange student. I really liked the landscape out side cities. I liked this documentary too and has saved it with me to watch it again . Background music has a soothing effect . Lucky people who live there. After all efforts in the life finally most of us want peace..

I was a boarder at Shaftesbury Girls Grammar, many years ago, and this brings back a million memories. My brother was a boarder at Shaftesbury Grammar for Boys and we were allowed to meet every Sunday afternoon at the top of a Gold Hill.

I used to live 3 miles from Shaftesbury (Shaston) in a little place called Stour Row. The community at the bottom of Gold Hill is St James.

Ever since I was a kid I really wanted to visit England. I first heard the word England when some elders were talking about Lady Diana. Since then I have always dreamt of visiting England.... I just wish someday my wish will come true no matter even if I become old...My wish will be to visit only England. Love from India.

Brings so many childhood memories to my old eyes. I was born in Cleethorpes Lincolnshire but spent my life traveling the world for sixty years & returned to England only as a visitor a few times. Why? very long story but suffice to say I miss the old English village that cannot compare with the skyscrapers of Shanghai, the great ports of Qingdao or the cultures of Beijing, the white sands of Australia, the magnificent mountain ranges of New Zealand, the amazing grand canyons, cities of America but still I miss my old home and the simple ways I was born to. Memories I can not get back!! I revisited England with my Chinese wife a couple of times and while the buildings, roads & beaches where exactly as I remember them some thing was missing! Take my advise. Keep your memories in your self. NEVER try to reenact them or you will suffer great disappointment. Bless you all from a disillusioned long haul traveler.
