Physical GOLD will hold it's value as the US fiat dollar loses it's value during the upcoming hyper inflation. All the TRILLIONS of US dollars they are printing is just like a corporation issuing new shares, it dilutes the current shares and makes them worth less. PHYSICAL GOLD will hold it's value especially in these uncertain times. Also don't believe everything you see on CNBC, they have gold at what $1,550 to $1,650, that's a joke. Go online and try to buy 1 oz of gold right now and you're looking at paying $1800 to $1,900 if you can even find it. The fake TV spot price of gold and silver has been totally disconnected from the real price of PHYSICAL gold and silver. I challenge anyone to go out there and by 1 oz of gold or 1 oz of silver at a reasonable premium over spot. It's not going to happen you can't even buy it right now. Coin dealers in my city are paying $150 over spot for gold and they're selling it for $200 over spot.

i personally hold physical gold jewelry, which I didn't buy as an investment.. but rather as a luxury. today it's worth more than when I bought it.

Think Money ..... as long as it’s gold. It keeps getting expensive!!!! A really good one..... but despite my cars and accessories investing in crypto or the stock market gives you a better chance of making more money and still having your money..just as long as you invest with an organization with standard platforms.

Gold is rather an insurance against the collapse of the current financial system and a bet on a remonetization of gold as money. If you see it as an investment you are poised to get disappointed in my opinion

common misconception. Gold is a hedge against inflation and current debasement. If the financial system collapses, theres nothing to exchange your gold for (i.e. dollars are worthless, you cant buy anything much less do anything with gold). Gold pumpers preach the narrative you mention, which is unlikely to come into fruition. irregardless, smart money knows that the central banks will print to oblivion, cash over the long term will trend towards its intrinsic value of zero and your purchasing power will get diluted. switch out to good if you need to hold something they cant print over the long term. Dont complicate things, end of story

GLD is fine. People have this irrational need to actually hold the gold themselves but all they're really doing is taking on needless costs. An etf is much more convenient really.

I should have mentioned that in the video, a gold ETF is just as good as gold itself. I'm personally a fan of BAR. They have the lowest fee for access to gold

I'm definitely not as experienced in the stock market as "Learn to invest" is but I would totally disagree that holding a gold ETF is as good as holding gold in your hand. During hyperinflation try having that gold ETF delivered to your house. Not going to happen. I'm not saying a gold ETF is a bad investment, but it's nothing like actually holding the metal in your hand. I'll compare it to stocks, you buy one stock in a corporation and you own a little piece of that company but what happens if that company goes bankrupt you lose everything. Owning a gold ETF is the same thing but in this instance you could buy the physical metal and hold it in your hand and when the ETF collapses you lose everything just like that one little piece of stock you had in that company. If you get that piece of gold in your hand you never lose that.

The thing is, girls like gold. And men tend to like girls. So men in turn will like gold. I guess its all connected to wanting to feel important. Often a woman will judge how important you view her by the amount of value you are willing to... invest in her. So as long as gold is useful to attract girls, it will have value even outside of industries.

I totally agree with Buffet when he says gold is not a productive asset. Buy cheap stocks now and even if they take time to bounce you can benefit from dividends.

I have had a 10% holding in gold in my investment portfolio for the last 10 years and I believe it has served me well. I have found it very difficult to correlate gold with any other financial instrument. It may be that the amount of new debt that the U.S. Government is creating plus the increases in Q.E. by the Fed. will have some effect on the gold price.

Hey Jimmy why would I not want to put my emergency fund into a safe stock portfolio like GOVT, TLT, AGG, and MUB instead of a high yield savings account? There should never be a situation where the liquidity of the bond ETFs is so bad that I could not sell the holdings within a week to use the money.

Unemployment is incredibly deflationary. That would increase the real rate of interest. Thus, gold should go down. Also, the money printing is actually deflationary too because it kills multiplier effect and velocity of money.

Gold is a very complex market with many facets. Jimmy, I think you are only partly correct when you mention interest rates; you really need to view the gold trade as an FX trade, because gold *is* money, except is is not backed by a central bank, cannot be "printed" at will, and carries zero counter-party risk. So it gets its "safe haven" status from the fact that it is "honest money", nobody can just introduce $2T worth of NEW gold into the market overnight. 😉 But that is a double edged sword because when the economy is doing good, and there is a high level of *trust* in government issued currencies, gold generally falls out of favour; why own gold when a perfectly safe T-Bill pays interest? Right? Gold is not really a market hedge, that's more bond territory... gold is a TRUST hedge, when trust in currencies is falling, inflation fear, and maybe even when there is fear of systematic failure, gold is king. It is liquid, easy to trade (paper or physical), and the 0% yield becomes irrelevant in a negative rate environment, or when sovereigns are debasing currency or risking default. BTW, these are the same dynamics that make Bitcoin so damn attractive, you can own an asset that has zero counter-party risk and acts like a hedge against a corrupt system (both gold and btc). (of course there is even more to it, but to most retail investors like me, these are the most relevant points)

Many people like gold due to culture but as people become educated, gold becomes less important and thus my personal feeling is gold will hang around and not really spike. As I said, this is my personal feeling, it doesnt mean I am correct but I dont play with gold investments. I wouldnt recommend it unless someone does alot of research and really want to make a profit in this industry.
