You really need a good blaster nozzle coming off of the pump hose right before the jet intake. That would have blown the cracks open really well. A contact zone is where 2 different types of bedrock come together, like a quartz seam in that bedrock would be classified as a contact zone. Looks like you were working a crack in the serpentine bedrock & getting some nice gold :) Whatever happened with the deep glory hole you were going to spend the summer at this year?
Hey Reed, it was as stated. Two different types of bedrock to the left and right. My standard blaster runs of the P180 and it does OK, I use it all the time, but it would have had little effect beyond the surface in this crack. Though there were fractures running throughout the crack, most of them were compressed. A blaster nozzle could have been effective, @ about 2000+ psi I'd guess. I did do some sampling at the deep hole and found some gold. How was your summer?
Didn't get as much gold as I would have liked. A crevice attachment, would have been a lot more productive. There were some nice chunky pieces though. In all probably 1/3 ounce. Some of the flakes were 1/16" thick.
Hey Chuck :) I couldn't exactly tell from the movie but I'm glad that you helped us see the contact zone here, it looked different enough more or less in the movie but not recognizable. I had a great summer in Wyoming, Colorado, & great dredging in Idaho with Wallrat. I have our entire summer here in playlists on my channel. Twas a great year & I'm still getting good gold between the rains. I really do work well underwater & I do enjoy running with a hot water system. Pressure Washers work great
You know me :) I'm always interested. I lived in a tent most all summer this year basically because I was too cheap to drag the trailer all over the western states... lol. But that's my life these days & I do enjoy the traveling, living in the woods, & having great friends to work with :)
Hopefully I'll go back and do more sampling. I found My T-80 to give adequate air @ 23-25' being in the Thalweg, I don't think it gets any deeper. Which is good because that's probably the limit of my gear, but everything worked. You definitely feel it when you hit the last thermocline though! I have access to some PP in the Bohemia district which opens May 15, I believe. Dredge sampled there last spring, found some decent gold. Camping on the creek can be arranged, let me know if interested.
It's called a crevice attachment. Apparently you have missed the whole point of the video, which was to show the gold being uncovered in-situ. Good luck with your project and thanks for watching.
