Considering the usual place to find gold is on that really grotty mucky looking stuff that most people would pass by, its amazing how many specimens are attached to white quartz....even ones dug straight out of the ground seem to most often come out on a crystally bit of white stuff...I've never seen any on clear quartz though
I am in an area in upstate New York not far from the Adirondacks and my area is loaded with iron and quartz, but supposedly not gold… Are they lying to us? 😭
Classified section of the gold trading post, eh. There's a mathematical challenge to work out the specific gravity, tare off cup with water, then tie string to the specimen and toothpick suspend in the water on the scales, should you choose to accept this challenge.
It's obviously a Blue Grouse. They're so dopy you can harvest them by throwing a rock. Spuce and Ruffed Grouse are smaller but taste better. Any grouse wrapped in bacon and cooked in a Dutch oven is my favorite camping dinner.
