My portfolio for the past 30 years has always been self managed and I own 3 shares of Berkshire Hathaway Class A stock (BRK:A) which I bought in at about $17,000 during the mid 90s, I’m currently liquidating some of these positions to incoporate new Gen. Stocks, but am I better off re-investing into Gold as it seems stocks are a little too unstable right now.

The market is not necessarily a rollercoaster if you know your way around the market, there are various opportunities in the present market to accrue good profit, If you are not too savvy with the market, just buy and hold on strong companies with good earnings, or consult with advisors on Etfs and actively managed funds.

The volatility since I’ve been buying gold makes updating the spreadsheet kinda fun. It’s taught me not to care about the swings and just to focus on the long term wealth preservation and appreciation. The nature of the global debt crisis and its acceleration makes the Gold thesis bulletproof. Unless we have faith that our governments will do the right thing by stopping out of control fiscal spending (laughable). The world is in for a gold rush!

The way I look at it might be wrong but it works for me. I don't purchase as an investment. I think of it as I'm exchanging paper for something more solid and hopefully much more inflation resistant 😉 So for me it doesn't matter how much the gold price is. I buy an .oz and that is a physical representation of the paper I just spent. I exchanged one for the other. And there might be divinations up and down, but I "believe" the trend is upward and will most likely continue. But I have a question for the group. We often look at what might drive the price up ..but what could drive the price down substantially? Anything at this point? I don't see the debt going away. I see more printing and inflation. So what, if anything, could throw a wrench into our outlook? Thx 😎👍

I think that the biggest thing that could push gold prices lower would be if central banks reduced or halted their buying. I'm not sure what would cause them to do that but it could happen via widespread governmental edict to stop buying gold and buy sovereign bonds instead. This would shore up the fiat currencies, making them stronger which also would put downward pressure on gold prices.

@@edb3877 I’m buying gold with silver. The lower the ratio , the less silver is required to purchase gold. Au has been proven to be a better investment over time. Historically performance is on Gold’s side. Long story short, I’m done with silver. Got that straight? 😂

I find having any precious metal is a good way of saving money as I tend to spend money even before I get apaid others are the same. There is no harm in investing in PM's although it is mean to be an investment for 5 plus years and not an over night investment. Happy stacking everyone.

We can't predict these things. Dollar cost averaging is the best method, IMO. That's what I've been doing, at least. Buy precious metals on a schedule, say every 1st of the month, and just do that regularly.

I wouldn’t. People find coins more attractive and at minimum 1/10 ounce. Premium is terrible on those small denominations.

Strong disagree with Jeronimo’s position on gold bars. 👎 Shoot for 5 and 10 gram bars for lower premiums and use the find/bullion/prices website (without the slash marks) to compare premiums. I stack coins and bars and bars often have lower premiums.

I’ve been selling a lot and buying back a little. Take some profits for other things and accumulate smaller amounts for round 2. When the rate cuts start, gold will go out of reach for a lot of us.

But there are alternatives via buying fractional gold, which is better than not buying any gold at all. I like the 1/4 oz. and 1/2 oz. gold coins and have a couple of dozen of them in addition to the full oz. coins, which make up the majority of my gold stack. Look for good deals, sales, and clearances. It's possible to build a decent stack, even when prices are high via getting good deals and low premiums.

Quite a few stackers start with silver and then at some point migrate to gold. Some even buy both, depending on which is available at better deals. I used to stack silver regularly. Considered my silver stack complete in 2019. Started buying gold in 2013 and continue to buy it currently. Last buy was in Oct. 2023, so this $2400 an oz. nonsense has be holding my cash in reserve for a substantial dip. While waiting, SD Bullion had a good deal on BU grade 1964 Kennedy halves, so I bought 200 of them to add to my silver stack. Still have a lot of dry powder to spend on gold when a decent dip comes along. For me, that will be when it dips below $2300 an oz. If it doesn't, well, I still have a good sized stack so no FOMO here. Am also considering opening an SD Bullion self-directed IRA and transferring $50k from my main IRA at another custodial just to see if this fits me as well as it is looking like it will. I like their all in-house approach rather than dealing with multiple companies involved in such deals.

The vast majority of "predictions" are totally worthless and not really worth hearing. For some reason, though, a lot of people seem to thrive on them. My theory is that we not only do not know the future but we cannot know it. Best we can do is to make some educated guesses based on any trends that seem to be occurring.

I'm hoping on a stocks market correction in october. PMs tend to get sold in a swift market correction, as they get sold to make margin calls. They tend to recover sooner than stocks though, so I'll have to pay attention if I want to buy at a more 'friendlier' price! 🙂After that?

Just imagine buying gold at the double eagle price of... $20. None of us were around then but our grand parents and great grand parents probably were. Wouldn't that make for a nice family legacy? I never worry about when I started stacking. I was too busy buying Netflix at $55 a share and Costco at $19 a share. Plus a few others. There's a lot of ways to succeed financially. Stocks are the way that I chose but I have friends who made their bundle in real estate and that's great. I never complain about how someone else succeeds, as long as what they are doing is both legal and ethical. Those who operate without ethics / outside the law usually get what they deserve and that can be pretty nasty. No problem, they've earned it! lol

I watch your channel for opinions on gold not stocks based in Toilet Paper. If you are pushing diversification into stocks - respectfully have 2 podcasts. I am not interested in saving a nickel company based in cash by selling my gold-simple as that. Cash is trash-so are stocks if the dollar crashes . Keep the channel focused on gold...my opinion . I am able to "diversify" if I want. Focus on gold, dont get greedy is my take. Also your bitcoin opinions are not mine....

Au & Ag never 'crash' only fiat does. PMs are limited and as time goes very hard to obtain (from their natural sources). Slow and steady is the race as humans continue to price PMs to fiat. Simply continue to exchange and remember it's weight that matters and not the 'price'.

Regardless of election outcome, we will continue to see inflation, the statistics we see from our government are not realistic. Real inflation is much closer to 6% and that means the purchasing power of the dollar will be 50% less in just 12 years. Gold will bounce around on price but in that same 12 year period gold will be at least $4500 per ounce and probably much more.
