Goldcar rental - rent a car - issues, fraudulent claims ??

Don't give up if you have evidence USE It and don't get rip off all. Hope this video helps it's not perfect in any way but enough info for me to get my money back
Honestly having worked for AVIS for 3 years, I just knew I was going to get ripped off for something, I hired the car through rentalcars and what a bargain £32 for the 5 days. OK this was the basic insurance and I was hit with a £1100 deposit on arrival.
I should have made the effort to return to the desk and get all this sorted out on the spot, but I though goldcar have always been excellent in past rentals, there honest & reliable firm.
You can clearly see the waiver I signed with damage to the car, 2 items marked, watch the video to see how mucg damage hasn't been marked down!!!!
I've made this video as I've been charged £157 for something (I have no idea what) and my fuel deposit has been returned £86 whe I paid £95 as you can see the car went back 8/8 bars fully fueled up.
If I went on holiday and put in a claim for something that didn't happen it's called FRAUD!!! and I could be arrested for it. SO why are these crooks getting away with it every time ?
I've had a reply on trustpilot 13/3 at 15.30 approx (guess the relevent picture of this damage is available for viewing ?? we will see)

Thanks for your video buddy.. I used to love going to Spain & hiring a car, it was so easy & so cheap, but last time was 2009. Off to Mallorca in two weeks, and it seems that everything's changed. Looks like car hire is a nightmare and one big rip off... John.

Just rent from a large company like SIXT. As a bonus they won't charge for any petrol if you bring the car back full.

update: goldcar returned the charges 👍 many thanks and also the new car fuel charge as a gesture! glad I took the time and effort to get this resolved #Twitter was the best area for contact.

MrRicey155 Hi mate, I am having the exact same issues with Goldcar. They charged me extra for damages that were existing on collection. Luckily I have taken some photos like you. However, they won't accept them and say the damages were not listed on the report, so I have to pay for them. Any advise on how to act would be appreciated. Thanks!

Same happened to us. Fortunately my friend had videoed the car upon picking it up and dropping it off so we could easily dispute the scratches they claimed we'd made. Definitely record every little scratch or mark on the car before you leave and get them to sign off the chart.

Nationwide CC division are looking into the charge, I'll await the verdict. I'm sure Goldcar could support their reply on trust pilot with evidence of the new damage that isn't clearly in the video made on arrival ??

I'm quite happy I looked into stuff beforehand, I'm traveling with some friends and need a rental van for a few days, I got the full coverage option from Rentalcars for about €20/day, expecting to be fully covered. *However* Goldcar still wants a €2000 deposit, which is quite a bit too much for my credit card limit, or I could purchase their own Relax Coverage, which, as it turns out, is about €30 a day too, so I'd be paying *twice* for the same "full coverage". The good bit is that I checked in advance, and could cancel the full coverage from Rentalcars, so I'll be getting my money back for that at least. :)

Alexander Burgers great stuff this is about being ripped off for damage that was already existing and charged for probably over and over again. I've not had an accident for 27yrs off my 44. so full insurance isn't required 👍

Its about the same combination of Rentalcars.com and Goldcar though. Damage thats already there is why you normally have a walkaround with the rental employee present, and like you did, take your own pictures/video. It's kinda interesting how badly filled out their initial damage report was, but I assume thats more lazyness than malice on their part. You mention you got the full coverage from rentalcars, but, I assume, not the same thing from goldcar, IE: upon arrival goldcar reserved money on your CC, if you had the one from goldcar, they wouldn't have done that at least.. About the fuel charge, I don't know why they did that, typically you hand in or show your fuel receipt from when you filled it up right before handing it in? Full insurance isn't required for me either, it just an easy way to reduce the requirement of having a very high credit card limit for the deposit..

Alexander Burgers the car was miles from the office and zero people about so total hassle 😱 I didn't take any cover just rental cost. fuel the car was dropped at 5am with nobody again about. but again I did the before and after video to argue my case - as said I worked for Avis they pressure you to find damage and charge clients !! thus my fight was planned. 👍

Goldcar also scam customers in Malta - I had a nasty experience with them too. Avoid them!

I worked for Goldcar Malta (for a total of 6 weeks), it's policy to rip off customers. We were told to mark as little damage as possible at collection and EVERY tiny scratch at drop off. We hired unsafe cars, cars with no road license (tax disk), burned out clutches, no AC, broken airbags, the works. Customers having their car confiscated by the police for no tax disk was a regular occurrence. If you can believe it, the staff are treated even worse. I had 17 hr shifts in a suit in the car park in august, no shelter and no water provided, I had to fight to get my paycheck too.

Goldcar charged my credit card for refill incl. penalty hours before I returned the car at Goldcar, airport, Nice. They just refill any car and charge your credit card and there is nothing you can do against it.

agreed you feel completely useless with these people, it's 2017 surely somebody has the power to sort these crooks out. maybe a big FINE would start?
