Nice fish! Good transformation.. Quick question- from starting you kept in the same tank? Never kept on white background tanks or tanning light?

Thank you. Yes the fish was kept in the same tank from the beginning.. The aquarium folks kept it in special tank and it had full crossing while young.

Fish looks great! Is it normal that as a Juvenile the entire body was golden and as it matured, turns bluish black ? Can you explain how you sourced it ? Any trustworthy shops we can go to

Hi, Thank you. While it is juvenile Arowanas tends to have very light shade and the shop keepers improve top row shine by putting Arowanas in white tanks (white tank treatment). As we put them in regular tank the top row scale shine they achieved in white tanks will be lost slowly. But if the genes are good, as the arowana matures, golden shine will slowly rise up to the top rows again. The purple black shade is the initial shade of all scales (say a scale is lost and new one appears, it will be purplish black), and golden shine is something that grows over time. I bought the Arowana from Cochin. Big shops will have Arowanas of all grades and qualities. The farm they came from may be a good filtering criteria to start with (Qian hu, Sianlon etc). @@LogicIsland Thank you for the detailed repsonse! I somehow didnt get a notification when you replied. I also loved you Arowana and Discus setup! Do share tips on how you raised both together especially when Discus need so much care. Im in Bangalore, if you know of any shops that help source a Qian Hu Arowana do let me know. There is one big shop that deals mostly in Arowana's though it isn't from Qian hu. Also will a 4 ft size tank do or is it good to get a 5ft one ?

Hi, Not familiar with shops in Bangalore bro. 5 feet or more for sure, and your Arowana will thank you for that... Cheers.

I hope not :-( ... I see hints of shine it top row scales that I hope will develop crossing.

when the aro was young u should have place a white background to develop the crossing on the arowana as the light will reflect on the white background to the scales
