Golden eagles are such beautiful and powerful birds! This is the first time I’ve seen one take down a deer, but I’m not totally surprised that they can!
Really cool video, what amazes me is how durable birds-of-prey wings are. I've seen several videos of them tumbling down a cliff holding onto a goat or sheep, wings flopping all over the place, and somehow they're still able to fly. Pretty incredible stuff.
Saw 2 golden eagles today in my travels. 1 in Minong, WI and one north of Duluth, MN. Both were eating dear carcasses on the side of Highway 53. Made the turkey vultures look like chickens!
If you think golden eagles are big you should check out Steller's sea eagle. Biggest eagle by weight in the world! Harpy's rival it in weight and the Philippine eagle has a bigger wingspan but none match the sheer bulk of Steller's sea eagle.
Agreed. these guys run up as fast as they can so the deer is less likely to kick or kill the eagle. Deer is not natural prey for an eagle. These people just use eagles like other people use guns to kill.
Actually, many golden eagles do kill alpine deer, goats and sheep. Too large just to kill with a strike, so the bird latches on, and pulls the big animals off the cliffs, to their death, than flies down for a feast.
@@combinelover8988 @CombineLover had this video genuinely shown what you have just described (commented), in an environment free from human interference, I would agree with you.
That guy shouldn't av got involved in that .. slitting a fawns throat!! When Karma visits with him one day I hope this is the first memory that comes bk 2 him!
Looks to me like the eagle knocked the deer off balance, then it fell, and those hunters likely shot the deer. Then the camera starts up, showing the eagle taking chunks out of the deer, which I believe was dead. If the Eagle actually killed a big deer like that, it would be remarkable. Don't think it did ?
@@lennell2007 you would be mistaken. "the deer collapsed about 7 meters away and died from the wounds it received in the attack." www.whitewolfpack.com/2013/09/golden-eagle-vs-deer-photos-captured-by.html?m=1
Everyone, in this method of hunting the eagle is used to capture and hold a larger animal until the hunter arrives to kill the animal, usually with a knife. This happened here too but was not shown. Eagles have been known to kill small deer and foxes on their own but only when desperate as it is always very risky. A deer like this is dangerous quarry for the eagle, you can see it kicking. The eagle can be mortally wounded or more typically suffer a broken wing which is a long slow death in the wild, this is why they only do this if they’re desperate for food. I don’t necessarily agree with this as it’s risky but then you can’t really force it to attack something it really doesn’t want to so I guess it’s fine.
@@ManojKumar-yn9qx Correct. I love watching the Eagles hunting big prey, and there are even more powerful eagles there, like the African Martial eagle, and the African Crowned eagle which has been known to even attack people ( and I don't mean killing them or eating them) when they come too close to it's catch. But I don't enjoy videos in which man uses the birds to hunt for him. This is the sport called falconry, where human first started experimenting with falcons before graduating to eagles. My heart is NOT with that.
@@henthust9784 exactly my point. Hunting for fun is not right. The only cause of imbalance to the ecosystem and environment is human interference. We are not any special species in this system, who is delusional to think that we are in power. It will only take a covid like disease outbreak or something like mass extinction to wipe out humans. We need to respect mother nature
I have seen these raptors taking down even larger preys like a fully grown male Tigers, Lions, Bears, Elephants, Rhinos and also grabbing big male hippos, Saltwater/Nile crocs out of water. Unfortunately, have lost all the videos due to hard disk crash. Anyways, wish u all a happy new year. Welcome to 2021. Just completing the last drink as my new year resolution is to stay away from alcohol. Cheers..
No, that eagle had a death grip on the deer’s nose and mouth, don’t know where the other talon was, likely holding the deer’s leg or stomach. While yes it is likely the hunter finished the job. I am sure the eagle would have killed it regardless.
why is it a "poor deer". are you implying is doesnt have $$$, or are you being sympathetic about the deer insomuch that it is a prey species for many of other species of animals ?
Amazing. There is also a RU-vid video of a bald eagle killing a young deer while it was swimming close to shore. It attacked the deer and held it underwater to drown it. Most people have no clue what eagles are capable of.
There's something seriously wrong with a person that gets some enjoyment out of this so called Hobby sport. This is abuse of Gods creatures for self pleasure and he will answer for it one day.
I agree. I have no issues with people who hunt with firearms or archery because they are pitting their skills against those of the animals they are hunting. How can this be enjoyment when you are letting a bird of prey kill the quarry?
Yes I so agree ! these animals are doing there best to survive a hard life already why do we think we have the right to get involved or worse end there life for our entertainment very disturbing behavior for a grown man...!
You ought to see the smile on my face when my swallows eat thousands of mosquitos alive right out of the air! Is what is seriously wrong with me Covid? Bwaaahahaha
The thought of treating a legume like it's an insult is hilarious. Saying it out loud is even funnier. You're such a peanut. A chickpea. A tamarind. You're chock full of lentils. Thanks for the laugh.
I put a stop to this kind of hunting on my property some years ago when I caught a guy trespassing on my land with some kind of bird of prey. I kicked him off of my property and told him to never come back. Unfortunately, for his bird he came back two years later when he thought I had sold my land and moved on. Took the bird out with my 12 gauge and the guy took off like a rocket.
@@bull-xtv - No, no heroism involved, just a guy who despises trespassers and people who kill for pleasure. Mind you, I took no pleasure in shooting the trespasser's bird of prey; it was just something I felt needed to be done. After all, I had warned the guy once before, so, he can't say he was not told to stay off of my property,
At first I was like “ stop interrupting the eagle trying to eat “ until I heard “ good girl “ Thats cool as, would legendary to get my meat via eagle 🦅
Not really sure this is authentic. The first shot shows the Eagle, with it's wings spread, and you can't see what it has--a Deer is far too big to be covered completely with wings. Later, yeah, they have a Deer, but not sure it is the animal the bird caught. Could be--but I don't believe an Eagle can take prey that large.
I've seen them do it in person. Eagle took down the deer and held it. Then pulled a 9mm from its feathers, cocked it, and executed the deer. What's astonishing is how it cocked the action without hands
Don’t get people who kill for sports. Like you kill something that u ain’t eating wats the point in that? People need to get a hubby and do something constructive and meaningful with their time stupid people always do stupid things.
A *deer* so small, most real hunters wouldn't bother with it. Hey, but whatever makes you think your bird is badass enough to justify the cost and trouble.
@@bull-xtv you morons proved my point. 75 pounds is a fucking JOKE. No hunter in MA would bother dropping such a small deer, he'd be the butt of jokes for decades. Show me a pic of a bird taking out a 200 lb white tail. Otherwise, you're just embarrassing yourself at this point.
I don’t mind being the butt of jokes for years that my 9lb Goldie caught a 75lb Roe deer. For further laughs, I ate the loins from this deer with chips and gravy the same night. 👍🖕🏼
yes, no reply from the channel here eh?? they are wildlife abusers trying to use beautiful eagles as a gateway, but if a golden eagle came over a grouse moor etc, these scumbags would take it out in a second because I know the background of this slime, wildlife abusers full STOP
Nos that's insane! I would probably have a pet northern bald eagle someday to catch a deer so I can eat and a northern bald eagle is basically a bald eagle subspecies and the bald eagle has two, the southern and northern bald eagle.
Geez people! Why the argument whether this bird killed the dear. Obviously it did not as it'll take it several minutes just to kill and devour a small rodent let alone an animal this big.
There are actually people in this comment section mad that an Eagle is doing Eagle things, thanks for the laugh I guess; but can a rock just hit this rock already.
That's pretty amazing she can pull down a Roe buck, only problem she can't kill it and gets beaten up. Looks abit risky for such an amazing bird to me.
A. Wolf couldn't do what 😀 no bird challenges the alpha male for a meal show the video 🤔my point a wolf can take down a 1000 pound animal along and can fight black bear or couger to a draw no eagle can do that in North America birds don't eat wolfs dummy I seen the Alaska 🦅 close up a crow or pitbull could make easy work there only alil bigger then Alaska crows fool
I enjoy living in a remote wooded region, hunt and retrieve fresh kill to eat & use nearly all the animal has to offer. I heat with firewood, cut and harvest trees. I studied Wildlife Bio at a major university. This video depicts true evil in the use and enjoyment of animals misfortune. Sad, sad, sad. Seldom do I "dislike" any videos regarding hunting, fishing, trapping or guns in general but I "disliked" this one. The use of this bird is the same as cock or dog fighting. Poor taste in the least, piss-poor human nature at the most.
Pound for pound, birds of prey are the most dangerous animal on earth. Their crushing talons are the most efficient killing tool in the animal kingdom. If eagles weighed as much as a wolf, they could easily take down a lion, bear, or moose.
Read up a little bit on the subject. The most formidable animal in the USA, happens to be the common house cat. in the great plains the bob cats there also pose significant danger to any animals their own size. Talons or not. A cat is much faster and accurate with their claws.
@@Bob_Adkins that's awesome. if you look closely, especially owls show it the most, birds are just specialized cats with wings anyways. and there's the rare and bold 10 lb cat that gets a precision swipe at an incoming 40lb eagle's neck, and like most animals we don't live that long with all that fluid loss on its way to the brain. nature is never a for sure thing. i really don't know much about falconry. i raised injured owls, big ones, and i'd rob ravens nest out of joshua trees while mom and dad was having a fit. and a week before i'd already have picked the biggest chick, don't pick the runts. ya gotta get em before they're standing on the edge of the nest, but with some feathers coming out, bring it home and put it in a cardboard box, with some newspapers cut up and a wind up alarm clock, feed warm milk and bread for a day or so, then head right to the skippy dog food in a can (that's how long ago it was,) dig out big clumps of the pasty stuff and the bird will be hogging it. dip your finger in some water every so often. but the bird grows fast, and it'll start getting out of the box. when it's got good winds bring it outside and let it go, they usually hand around or come back every night just at dusk and roost on a 1x1 post nailed under an eve. i swear to god, there could be a circle way up in the sky, pat your arm and say his name, mack or joe's, and he'll depart from the group, circle down and land on your forearm. used to trip out the kids when i was in grammar school doing it. my dad showed me how to to it. then one day a few years after it stealing sockets and cigarettes and being the coolest pet ever, it'll find a mate and go it's own way. that's the extent of my bird watching. they liked putting their whole beak inside my mouth. and they liked their neck rubbed , down around the skin. they appear to be emotional animals, ravens are pretty bad ass.
@@buckwheat7424 Yeah, I've had a few birds. Ravens are crazy smart, and pretty good talkers. Some of my cousins had baby crows and taught them to talk. They're not as good at talking as ravens. There's a video (can't find it) about a crow's handler going away 2 weeks and coming home. The crow was very excited to see him at first, then disciplined him for leaving by holding his finger in his beak for 10 minutes.
