4-12-1975 Mid South, Memphis,Tenn. Opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd. As the coliseum began to get a little" smokey" this Dutch band had made a lot of new fans. Moontan is classic, but live was just awesome.

I saw the Band 5 times in Southern Germany. Always in smaller locations. Every time it was an absolutly great and unbelievable experience.

Unfortunately there is a radio station in SoCalif, KOCI 101.5, that wants to identify as Classic Rock but when this station plays Candy's Going Bad it cuts off the final two minutes, the instrumental outro. It has never played the entire version of this song, always choosing to cut it off just as the instrumental outro begins.

10 years ago I took a train from Amsterdam & then a bus out to a small sports arena where I hung out w/ GE before the show and then stayed on stage during the show. I was next to Ceasar & behind Rinus. Best concert experience ever & a memory I still replay on occasion. The guys in the band were real nice, very accommodating.

Yes they did change at least this one, Eelco Gelling who plays slide and lead guitar on here. Eelco was a star in Holland on his own, but he joined G.E. for this one and a couple Studio records, Grab It For a Second being one...it is a GREAT album. Also Robert Jan Stips played Keyboards on To The Hilt- They were full fledged members for those records at least.

I'm a Allman Brothers Band fan who had made one of the best live albums ever called: "Live at Fillmore East". This one is at te very same high level and I love it!. The Golden Earring Unplugged 1, 2 and 3 are also beautiful.

Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd loved em too, they played a lot of shows together, i got to know him in the 80s, (he liked my band) and i loved Earring, and so did he. It was the coolest thing ever, to tslk with my hero about HIS heroes.

Can`t exactly remember why this awesome album was turned down by a german magazine back in the day . What comes to my mind is an devasting review and that the author was absolutely wrong. Amongst all live albums I`ve been listening over the past decades it`s one my favorites!

Golden Earring has followed me since 1974, Moontan, then I bought Eight Miles High, 68, I think it was from. Live at Ahoy arena 2006, Rotterdam, Live 1992, acoustic from Amsterdam I think, this is a group so underestimated. They are number 2 in my world of all groups ever was on this earth. No one is a Swedish group, Neon Rose, just did 3 albums. Magic, just like GE. Then Ten Years After is nr 3. Alvin Lee.

That Winterland concert is pretty damn incredible. The over hour long concert with just the four them from 1982 is unreal as well. This one here just...Man I could go on.

@@yvadow The Winterland version of "Vanilla Queen" is superior. Gelling's overuse of lead guitar in the choruses not a good addition to the song. Kooyman's solo on the '75 version one of his best solos ever. Plus the horns sneaking up behind him are beyond epic. "Vanilla Queen" is my fav GE song so it I am very particular about how it's performed.

An almost unknown band in my native Brazil, I believe only two of their albums were released here during the Seventies. Read about them on a book, liked what I read and then started to search their albums. "Golden Earring Live" is probably my favorite of all because of Candy's Going Bad, Eight Miles High, Vanila Queen, and Radar Love - great versions here!! George and Rinus rules!

Loved this lot since 1973. Saw them at newcastle city hall 16th nov 1974. Lynrd skynrd on with them. Great concert. Only about 400 there that night . They opened the downstairs only. Barry complained about the sound on several occasions . My favourite track amongst all their gems ..troubles and hassles. X

@@bladerunner925 hello bladerunner. Didnt realise what I was watching at the time .had never heard of skynrd. Like you say two great bands . Lynrd skynrd opened the concert and had a few fans there that night . When golden earring came on the sound was really poor . The fans went quiet and after a couple of songs barry hay shouted ..this is a concert not a mass . The sound was sorted and everybody ran down to the front.

George Kooymans has ALS, a muscle disease, and Golden Earring won't tour anymore. Sorry for all who have to miss it. And heal, heal, heal George!!! The other guitar player, Eelco Gelling, played with Cuby & the Blizzards.
