Golden Fan 56" ceiling fan in white, new in box. The overall box for the fan is gone, but everything was still wrapped and sealed, even came with the original Golden wall control. It makes a SWEET sound when getting up to full speed, it can be difficult to hear over how buzzy it is in this video with the variable speed unfortunately.

Have to agree there. I've loved industrials, especially those with curved blades, for as long as I can remember seeing them.

I thought you'd like the noise. It's the variable speed control, as well as the upper canopy vibrating against the Casablanca Hang-Tru canopy underneath it.

Most spinner motor fans hum on solid state speed controls. Again, it's not really that loud, the whole joist was vibrating with my temporary mounting, that's really what's so loud.

Wow the buzzing though.

WHOA! Its a pretty weird looking variable speed control. It would be MUCH quiter with a 5-speed wall control. Try it with one to see.

Yes, it's been hooked up with a 5 speed control in my bedroom for a long while now while I find time to finish up my LCA. I picked my TAT control, and the fan won't start by itself on the lowest speed, I have to push it. It works fine with my Evergo and Litex controls, but they buzz a lot with this fan for some reason.

I was expecting it to go faster on high but I guess its a little slower because those blades looks heavy.

Maybe if I have some time, can't make any promises. I have to see if I can find one of my light kit adaptors for sure. I know you're looking to get a fan like this, and typically you can't just screw a fitter right in, you need a little nipple to adapt to the shaft size and ensure that the light kit doesn't get screwed in too far.

Will do. It's a very neat fan.

IDK, probably during the same time period. A lot of industrials look similar (because most companies made them at some point), there are only some characteristics that set them apart. A great example of similarities is Canarm and HRS, which are two different companies, but they market practically the exact same products and they all look almost identical.

very nice fan, could this be installed with a light kit if you remove the bolt on the bottom?

I like the sound of it

It's actually pretty fast on high (at least average industrial speed), but yes, the blades are quite heavy. They're actually sagging just in the slightest way now with all the weight on them.

Was it the box at 0:12 that was gone (by the way)?

Which one? The one pertaining to the nut? It's still here so no I didn't remove it.

Goddamn that has an awesome sound

Well, the problem with that hypothesis is that it is a Golden Fan control, in the original box. All variable speed controls make fans hum some, and some more than others, so this is nothing new. It was amplified by my makeshift mounting as well, I don't know how to stress that anymore than making a new video of it.

Can you make a video of it with a school house light kit on it?

I'm trying. It's like my fourth try, and it keeps having an error. Same happened with the Golden Fan video.

What's the point of the nut? Who would want to put a light kit on an Industrial anyway...

I can tell you what is making that noise it's the windings and the bearings
@vfandm
@vfandm 8 лет назад
I can tell you quite definitely that the bearings are essentially silent. Windings don't make noise by themselves either, it's mostly hertz hum from the variable speed control.

That's...uh...what I've been doing. =P XD Still not working, but it'll have to eventually.
