Dave Higson, God bless him. The new fanzone bar is named in his memory. BWFC treated Dave and roadrunner productions very badly when they finally achieved premier league status, but the new regime have given back some dignity. RIP.
I was at both games and I have no idea why anyone would think that the first leg should have been 5-0…? We had a depleted team, but played well enough to stay in the game. One of my favourite nights at Burden Park, along with the Swindon League Cup semi-final second leg, the 6-1 defeat of Spurs, 7-0 beating dished out to Reading and all the memorable FA cup runs.
@@philipneville4207 rose tinted glasses. If you can find the home game on line watch it back. Shilton made save after save, you literally had one shot on target which was a miss hit shot by McCateer and it went in which kept you in the tie. You had the rub of the green a lot during that era with things like that, almost like the Man U of the Championship with decisions and luck on the day. Nice to see it balancing out now a bit.
