The kind folks at Golden Maple brushes sent me a couple more brushes to experiment with for a video. I told them I've been experimenting with calligrpahy brushes in watercolor lately for the interesting textures and they generously sent me a kit of them to look at. Hope you enjoy the video. Loved your painting. I liked this kind of brush too. I haven’t tried this brand, I feel the type of brush is more interesting though you do have to watch out for some that are really only for decorative purposes. I have a couple of really huge ones and a couple of hakes that wet paper really well, good for those foundational washes… but even the small brushes seem to be a lot more versatile than a small round for instance. Always good to watch you paint…

Hi Jarred. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad). Beautiful painting as you have us used to and very good evaluation of these brushes (as well as all goat hair brushes). I'm actually looking for a good set of caligraphy/art Chinese brushes to use with ink as well as watercolor and I'll defenitly check these (value for money, since money is usually one of the scarce resources for artists). Jim! Always lovely to hear from you, friend. :) These are definitely worth the money. Wish there was a bigger size - looks like they’re out of larger versions except the hake style. Actually I just got a bunch of calligraphy brushes from Artemiranda in Spain. My favorite is the Holbein Menso brush- it is perfect for drawing with ink. They’re thin and small. Much more expensive but a really nice brush. They have tons of options on Artemiranda. For general goat brushes to paint/sketch with- these are terrific though from golden maple.

@@JaredCullum Hi Jarred. Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my comment and sorry for not answering sooner (I've had some health issues but luckily I'm back on track!). And yes, Artemiranda has lots of good art supplies but I just wasn't sure on which one to purchase and I need to control my Art expenses a lot so I can buy what's really needed and at a reasonable quality/price ratio (you know... Money is one of the scarce resources for Artists!). Again, thank you very much and Cheers from Madrid!

I was just about to buy a new brushes after my WN series 7 disappointingly stopped going to a point. I actually have half a dozen chinese watercolor brushes from years ago, one quite big like 2 inch long hair. I'm pleasantly surprised at how good they are with what I'm trying to accomplish. I just saved myself a lot of money.
