I would disagree. We never would have had his works. DaVinci very well could have ended up wasting his time playing video games, browsing youtube like us. Or if he did make something there is a very high chance he wouldnt be as inclined to spend as much time on it. Maybe his beautiful mind of the past, the beliefs the values the culture and beautification surrounding him all played into his works. I bet if he saw a 3d printer he would change it right away. He wouldn't have it be a box.
@someotherdude
@someotherdude Год назад
I don't think it held back de Vinci at all. He'd just hire someone to fabricate his idea out of wood. What did hold him back (probably) was the lack of a portable power source (gas motor or battery/motor) and modern materials like thin steel, hard steel and carbon fiber, aluminum and the ability to cut this materials

Just to clarify something. The car was moving at 30km/h, but the relative wind speed the turbine was seeing would be WAY more than that. Where the slanted windshield meets the flat roof, there would be a massive acceleration in the current, (but also a drop in pressure). It would be interesting to see the test repeated with the turbine in the middle, at the back of the roof and on a pole ahead of the cars nose (to catch truly undisturbed air). Great vids btw, I always enjoy them.

As far as ideas, I’d really love to see you harness all the energy sources generated by nature interacting with your home. Possible a rain gutter turbine that powers a power pack that you could then use to power a led grow light. I have a patio garden and really want to use every energy source together to power lights for the plants that require more than the shade can provide.

The centrifugal pump can indeed be used to generate power. As seen in car turbochargers - the exhaust turbine working in the exact opposite way to the intake boost generating half. There can be a great many designs and the modern turbo blades are in a very different design to your older style (both energy generation and pressure generation) but one can make a design like yours generate energy for sure. Essentially a number of small wings on a disk, if the fluid flows from the outside to the center the wings will of course produce lift and provide a turning moment. A lot of these designs work in this way, just with a thin curved metal piece making up the inefficient "wing". Of course this does not work on the bi-directional centrifugal pump blades, but they are just an incredibly unoptimised style of blade able to do just about good enough in two directions.

While spirals are found everywhere in nature, most of them are other ratios, like the silver ratio and bronze ratio. The nautilus shell and Milky Way galaxy, for example. The sunflower pattern IS the golden ratio, though, and that was the main example.

@BretBowlby
@BretBowlby 3 года назад
Would the movement of the liquid in the tank act like a resonant wave over time and amplify the turbulence that is being created, which eventually leads to the vortex? I'm just curious as to what the behavior is without the tank restriction as well? Do we still have the same effect when the system is unable to recycle?
@rich1051414

since it gets so much power while driving, you should find a way to print those propellers out of something more sturdy like metal. then you can use it to charge whatever devices while driving, so as not to take from the car batter as much. not that it needs that but still a neat idea. I could see myself using it. basically free energy since most people drive anyway

Due to the boundary layer effect on the ground there’s always a gradient,that’s why wind turbines are mounted at a considerable height,I guess you almost always learn only from your from your mistakes.

I really like the content you produce, you do an excellent job researching and presenting topics in an interesting and fun way. I wanted to let you know that the camera isn't focused on you and is instead focused on the background when you're seated at your desk. I've noticed it in a few of your videos and wanted to let you know (in case you didn't already and instead your camera's focus cannot be locked). Again, you're an awesome creator and I look forward to seeing your videos. I hope you have a wonderful day!

You should see how this works as a boat prop, it'd be very interesting to see the force difference between this and a regular prop.

Try to make a Nicola Tesla two-phase AC induction motor from scratch. You could use it to see how much power generates using your different propellers or even the Stirling engine.

I'm currently an engineering student at our university and we are currently at the thesis stage. Our proposed thesis was perfectly executed due to your videos and ideas regarding the lily impeller. We'll use the propeller not just for mixing but much more than that, the data for it's use is limited so we are currently running some series of test for it's uses.

Using super slick skateboard wheel bearings at each end of the wind turbine should make for much quieter- and more efficient- operation. Also, this design looks like it could be used in boats as a safer alternative for marine life, so long as it is as efficient as the standard propeller.

The title peaked my interest and didn't think I'd see this odd turbine shape. I wonder if it could be used using the tide motion of the sea.

I would love to see you continue with the turbine idea. Make a sealed system to use water currents to charge batteries. I have always thought that it would be the future of energy! And have always wanted to try it for myself!

if you were to make the impeller, connect to a tube, with a rotatable hollow connector, you could separate the air, and water, and get a bit more efficiency.

This might sound unrealistic for a project but, here it goes. I've always been fascinated by the idea of having of somekind of Wind-Powered Ekranoplan which I'll call WPE. Basically its a cross between a Sailboat and an Ekranoplan where the sail you push the WPE Model to generate enough speeds for ground-effect to take place and hover above any surface, with out the need for an actual engine!! Maybe a small scale model or a large scale is up to you. Either way it would be a dream to see. The idea of hovercrafts and ground-effect vehicles blows my mind and is so cool! I really hope you see this!
