I babysat for Lin years after the attack in the house where it occurred. This beautiful woman is TRULY inspiring! I can attest to the fact that she did NOT let the attack ruin her Life. She did not "stay " a victim. I have so much respect for her and her courage! I am grateful to have known her and wish all the blessings to her and her family 🙏🏻💕

My mama was raped when she was was 9 months pregnant with my older sister. My oldest sister was about 2, laying right next to my mom in bed, when some guy broke in through her bedroom window and raped her at knifepoint, all while my oldest sister was laying right there. My mom said she just begged him not to hurt her daughter and the baby she was carrying. It did shape how the rest of my mom's life turned out. She was always afraid of her own shadow and pretty much raised us not to trust people. Yes, my mom didn't ever do anything 'heroic' by anyone's standards, but she DID report the rape, and it eve went to trial. The guy got off scott free because she couldn't tell authorities the color of his eyes! This was back in the mid sixties. I don't know why I'm writing this. My beloved mom died 3 years ago and I miss her so much. I often think about how she endured that night she was raped. I really don't know how she got through it. I commend Linda O'Dell for not letting her ordeal define her. I have the UTMOST sympathy for ANY person who has gone through any violent crime. They are all heroes. My mom is my hero....

It is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Linda holds her own in this interview but just imagine if this was a victim of a crime that was dealing with PTSD.

Kathryn Fink just bc it isn't noticeable doesn't mean PTSD isn't something she has. if u notice she does start to slightly rock herself / which can be a way to regulate emotions when something is triggering, or a way to soothe oneself. also she seems to look around and be subtly hypervigalant (checking for exits, who is around, their reactions, sudden movements draw her full visual attention)

Apparently, a lot of the trinkets he took, he ended up throwing away as he was running, or else losing. Almost like he didn't want to keep them after, or else he was smart enough to not keep them as evidence. If he kept her ring, that would be very significant and interesting.

One of the victims in her impact statement mentioned a puddle of melted gold in a stove of his in the garage. Another victim had mentioned previously she and her sis exchanged ‘sister rings’. I think maybe the reason he picked her was because he saw her while she was waitressing and followed her home. Since other people were able to describe his looks, I'm going to guess that he didn't always wear a mask. I bet the reason he wore a mask this time is because he probably continued to go to that same restaurant. She probably even served him without knowing it. Now that I think of it, that might be why he didn't talk very much, he didn't want to risk her recogizing his voice. I also think he picked the night that he knew her husband would be home. I think that because if he watched the place for a period of time, he would have figured out that her husband worked nights 5 days a week. I'm not sure why he would do this, maybe to humiliate the husband or possibly to instill more fear in her. She would never feel safe. If I were a married adult back then, I would have bought a dog, secured the doors and windows, armed myself, and kept nothing but paper plates and Dixie cups in the kitchen.

I know this is a bit of an old comment but I wanted to say that think the reason he chose the night her husband was home has to do with the way the papers were talking about him. He would follow the papers. When They had noticed a pattern and published that he had been breaking into only single women’s houses or places where men were not home, he wanted the challenge and to prove the papers wrong as well as get himself a new thrill. possible explanation?. I very well May be wrong on this one though but I know that he did alter his crimes at one point as a direct response to the papers writing about him. Kind of like what he did after that town meeting there was a man who was shouting “if he dares to come to my house I’ll kill him” and then his family ended up being the next victims he chose.

They never found the tiny baby. To this day no one knows for sure if that child was truly dead. The area he brought her to drop her body was down a creepy back road that doesn’t have any homes. I wonder sometimes if that had been the only time he killed someone🤔
