Very cool! If the clear parts are the wing covers are the iridescent parts the actual wings beneath or still just part of the covers? 🤔 They’re very tiny and I’ve seen them on Morning Glory vines, but I don’t recall ever seeing one fly/spread it’s wings. The iridescence reminds me of certain Scarab beetles which were sacred to the Egyptians. They come in Greenish-Gold and Bluish-Green and the colored parts are the wing covers; the actual wings are dark in color. Scarabs are huge in comparison to these. Naturally occurring iridescence in animals is amazing.
@David Vento I agree, fascinating these metallic shiny colours bugs (many kinds of Insects), birds and some other creatures show. I admit, this sort of beetle 🪲 is kind of special while they look like consisting of liquid gold. The Tortoise bug's metallic look is spectacular, but the lucid cases are to me even more.
You're absolutely right they really are beautiful. I have never seen them before this is my first time. I know the red ones with the black spots when I was a kid I used to call them a ladybug and if it landed on you you are lucky.🐞
It's crazy how little I know about the insect and animal kingdom. There are legitimately new bugs and even animals, and fruits as well that I have never seen or heard of my entire life and I am just learning about them now.
No wonder I've seen these interesting little beetle friends in my backyard during the warm season. I've got morning glory growing everywhere back there.
There is an aquatic insect that builds cocoons out of small stones to protects its fragile body. One artist got a brilliant idea. He trapped several spices in aquarium and filled it with small pieces of gold and gems. As a result they build unique example of natural jewelry which were later sold
The first time i saw it in my backyard i thought it was a mutated beetle and i was amazed but when i searched it up on Google it wasn't that rare of a creature..still love it's shiny golden exoskeleton.
From what I read online they're native to North and Central America. But according to comments they're found in Asia. So either there's another similar species or someone introduced them.
I don’t know anything about this animal specifically but I’m going to guess you misspoke and it should become gold when the fluid evaporates and becomes red when the pockets are filled because that’s how refraction works
the manga delicious in dungeon uses this concept of treasure like bugs to explain how a treasure chest might kill you, a typical trope in fantasy games especially if you play the souls games, which i thought was very cool
Back to 90s when i was a kid. In indonesia, theres was a lot of these beetle (gold, silver, red, orange, white, and even multicolor). They are so beautiful. But now, i barely never seen them again 😢😢😢
