Hostage Executed! FFFUUUUU…Hey viewers, I’m back with another Goldeneye N64 cover. It is one of my favourite video games and the soundtrack is so awesome I simply had to do another one. This time I did the Frigate theme. It’s a great tune with that sick bass line taken straight out of Faith No More’s “We Care a lot”. And being a James Bond themed cover I decided to put on the fake tuxedo for aesthetic purposes.
Considering that this track pays homage to well known songs (The bass line is “We Care a Lot” sped up, the intro chord progression is the same as the progression to the “Goldfinger” theme, and the orchestra hits were inspired by the ones in “A View to a Kill” by Duran Duran), I did try mashing the “A View to a Kill” hits and Goldfinger intro melody with the track but it didn’t work, even when I transposed the key it still felt out of place, so in the end I scrapped the idea.
Being a Metal cover I made this rendition more guitar orientated. The synth you originally hear from 00:009 onwards have been replayed with lead guitars, and the xylophone that plays around the 01:16 mark is instead played on a clean guitar with a tremolo effect patched on to emphasize the Bondiness. The second half of the song I went all out Metal. I completely changed the Bass part as I couldn’t get the original poly rhythm bass riff to gel with some ideas I had for guitars.
Hope you enjoy this cover and stay tuned for more covers in future.
