Here's my remake of Frigate, took a while to get this one out as I was unsure on the sound for the guitars. I tried recording my guitar but I just couldn't get a decent enough sound with the lower tunings. However after doing a little rooting around, I was able to find the original uncompressed samples used for the game's soundtrack and decided they fit much better.
Apologies that it took so long to get this one out, hope you enjoy!!

This is like the equivalent of IMAX 4k of something, when you grew up watching an old fuzzy VHS tape. Love it! Hope you finish the whole game soon, and maybe move on to do something like Perfect Dark! One can dream!

Wow. I can say I was never clearly a big fan of the Frigate Theme but I could immediately with those heavy drums and guitar riffs this was actually gonna be good, I think you made me like Frigate a little bit more with this song. I think the best word to describe this remake would be "heavy" it just has a lot of heavy bass, heavy drums, heavy guitar, heavy orchestral hit, just heavy everything and I think that's what was missing in the regular version but this is definitely a good remake, well done.

Ahh thankyou! It's always a pleasure receiving comments like this. I'm glad you liked it. I always thought Frigate was missing something too. I've always liked the main guitar intro as it was clearly inspired by the Licence to Kill theme. It also means a lot that my remake made you like the Frigate track a little bit more ☺️😁

Definitely my favorite track from the game since it's the most "metal". I also love those Phantom guns that I don't remember showing up anywhere else

Yeah this is a great track! Grant Kirkhope said In an interview that he took the bass line from Faith No More's We Care A Lot. I loved using those guns too, such a strange choice to have them in only one level, unless you're using the all weapons cheat of course 😉 Thanks for stopping by and checking out my remake! 😁

Thankyou! I wasn't sure what to do at the end tbh, I tried just fading out the X track which was pretty boring. I also tried transitioning back to the main Frigate theme but the change back to a slower tempo was quite jarring. Glad you liked it anyways.

Saw a clip of Graeme Norgate in this 1h30 documentary here on RU-vid about the making of the game, where he said he lifted the lifted the drums straight out of Faith No More’s ‘We Care A Lot’. Or was it the bass? The slap bass of the very same. Go good. Great work on this, you’ve captured the crunchy edge and the drama of the track. You really understand it. Bravo!

Hey thankyou! Yeah I believe it was Grant Kirkhope who said that when he composed this track. I saw an interview where he said that he listened to alot of music that was released around the time of the film and just took little ideas from what he listened to. Thanks for listening ☺️

@@mattspence1337 yeah man you’re right, I watched another more recent interview and realised I’d mixed their names up! The kinda stabs of the bond theme before the main chorus kicks off are ment to be based off of The Living Daylights too I think. (This is a better track though!) What software did you use for this? Very very nice, very accurate 👌

@@josephmercier7291 yeah thats right, I think they did a great job of fitting the bond theme into every track in the game. The DAW I use is Reaper, used it for years on and off, used to use Cubase before but lost my license key for it. Then I use various plugins and samples to remake these tracks. The majority of the time spent on these remakes comes from trying to find/create samples that are close to the original and also placing all the notes.

What are the "X" versions?

The X tracks were designed to be played at the climax point in a level, for example, on facility when you're in the bottling room, the x track plays when Ourumov storms the room. Not all X tracks were used in the main story missions, but they can be heard in multiplayer matches.

@@mattspence1337 oh, okay. Do all the tracks play in game? I know Frigate doesn't have a multiplayer map. Does that play once you save all the hostages?

@@Loveistheirwholehapp no, Frigate doesn't have an X track in the mission. The other X tracks used for multiplayer are on shuffle each time you play a match.
