this deserves so much more views. I wish i could go back in time, wipe my memory and re live these experiences again. Playing goldeneye with friends was not a wasted childhood.
This is the japanese version of the game, with better accuracy and all body armors even in 00 agent. Less hard than the american version but still pretty hard and the run was very impresive.
For all you skeptics out there (myself included)... it's been 20 years since this game has been released. Cheating or no cheating... anybody who has worked THAT hard to hold a world record... deserves to hold that world record.
@@theorangetreehomestead6660 japanese version didnt remove many body armours, and also the auto aim doesn't get less generous on the higher difficulties like it does on the english version. this is why many 00a stages are ran on the JP version
I went to watch this on a gdq from 2014. Noticed the screen was super tiny compared to now. Came here, and saw that even normal footage isn't even full screen 😂
That guard sneeze on frigate 00a :D ...Great run Ace. The best is best for a reason. Too bad about being 2 seconds shy of sub 1 hour but this run shows it's CLEARLY possible for Ace to get Sub 1. No question.
I always though the first critical RNG happens on facility. A bad doak is a reset. Then frigate with the damn hostages. Bunker 2 is just rough to survive on. Train is pivotal because then the hard levels begin. Jungles lag is abysmal, control's "protect Natalya" is fucking sorcery, Caverns is extremely difficult to survive (but the map version makes it considerably easier. Almost no one runs English version for caverns, especially the top players) and the scientists cooperating and not getting killed is more than annoying, cradle is generally simple but could go wrong with bad luck on the grenade pull, and Aztec glass strat is rough and inconsistent
hey I'm in the middle of watching this, great run! I would like to ask you Ace, what parts of the 100% run gave you the most problems or setbacks? I understand Doak has to be in the right place for example. so a lot of runs probably end right at facility. But where else? It must be painful to get all the way to like control and have something go wrong...
The nerves start to kick in at around Train. All of the 00 Agent levels from there till Aztec (minus Cradle) are the most challenging ones. Mostly because of living on reasonably good pace but luck plays a role as well (scientists not dying on Caverns, the glass on Aztec). So yeah, a good Train-Aztec segment can take ages. After that it's pretty much smooth sailing (cheats aren't a big deal).
RayanIsran awesome man thanks for responding! big fan of goldeneye speed running, I love watching you and the others at The Elite speed run, it gives me a lot of inspiration to speed run games myself and just to be a better player overall. so thanks for sharing these accomplishments with the world
mathprodigy signing up with the elite rankings is free and posting is easy :) of you've got an N64 grab GoldenEye and start posting. Getting new PBs can be so rewarding. I'm nowhere near a great runner, usually around the upper 100s and a couple in the lower 100s are where my level times sit, but I still love posting. It breathes new life into a 20 year old game. It's nice taking a stroll down nostalgia lane when you have a real goal when playing. It makes the game brand new in a way...Also, the GE community is definitely one of the most involved and passionate I've seen. The game is highly optimized, but there are still tiny improvements and ideas coming out all the time. Check out a runner called Rwhitegoose. He streams on Twitch and makes an absolutely brilliant series on RU-vid called "speed lore" where he discusses the history of level records and the personal triumphs and rivalries of the runners who set them. He posts other videos too just about general things within the game or community. He's definitely the heart of this community and wildly entertaining and likable. But yeah you can find his videos right here in RU-vid if you search rwhitegoose. I hope you find the community and the game interesting :)
JayMark2049 is that just a glitch where he is supposed to pitch it at you and run but if you stand still he also stands still? Seems pretty self explanatory I know but just seeking acknowledgment. This man is destroying everything I thought I knew about this game! He is absolute savage!
In Train, the missions objectives only require that Natalia still be alive when the objectives are complete. This is done without her escaping through the opening.
Oh... right. Your description just listed those levels under "CHEATS". I thought it meant you were playing those levels WITH cheats. Maybe could have been clearer.
In the Japanese version, the number of Body Armors remains the same in all three difficulties. In the US/European versions, some Body Armors are removed when you play on 00 Agent.
Mrio Sometimes I grind for a PB on agent and see the video for the higher end times and think "how the fuck did they manage to gain THAT much time??" My lines aren't that bad. It's like the game just moves faster for them. I don't think they're cheating, but still it's crazy....Isran really is a prodigy though. Even as a kid he was setting WRs 0.0 pretty remarkable player and so far ahead of the competition. But I've never suspected him of cheating.
