Golf 8r fails to get away from Up GTI on the Nurburgring 

absolutely cracking driving start to finish, the consistency paired with how planted the Up! is was seriously impressive. Exactly the reason that 8R couldn't get away!.....straight line speed isn't going to save you on the Ring!

Ive just gone from a F80 M4 CS to another Up GTi. The CS was horrific on normal roads and I only did 800 miles in the last 12 months. Just as excited with the Up as I was with the CS. This lap looks genuinely fast!

That Golf 8R driver was just insanely scared in corners, i don't understand why tho because you have AWD and the car gives you so much confidence once you had a couple of laps. I have been driving one around Salzburgring, no prior racing experience and after ~16 laps i was doing pretty well in it. Sure this is the Nurburgring, totally different scenario, maybe he was new to the track but he was just scared of corners haha. Also i think he didn't use pedalshifters or used them wrong because there is no way an up GTI can normally keep up acceleration wise when exiting the corner (which you could for a while in the vid) Other than that, nice driving and i am glad he eventually let you pass, was horrible to watch how he blocked you when you shouldn't been able to keep up in the first place :D

Hi! I have a Golf 7 with the same MQ200 gearbox with the 1.4 TSI EA211. Have you found a short shifter for this gearbox? I found some items only for the “bigger” MQ250. Thanks for sharing your solution :) 🙏🏻

These days people buy iconic cars and thing driving skill are included. 30 years ago meeting a BMW you just knew the person behind the wheel could drive. These days it's almost always the other way around. I own a tuned UP GTI and a tuned Mazda 3, and I'm pretty sure the Mazda would be faster on a circuit
