Golf Putting Techniques could CHANGE for EVER with this Simple Idea

Even though putting has always been the strongest part of my game, I'm always interested in new ideas and new technology. I never thought I would go with a Super Stroke grip, but once I did, I love it. So I'd love to try the arm lock grip.

Great video Mark. Good that Cobra are innovating. In my view “anchoring” to your arm still has variables - arm twist, shoulders, back and hands still in play here. Anchoring to a fixed boys point is different. Watched your videos for years and love them. Fantastic communication style and knowledgeable, balancing objective and subjective opinion. Hi Mark I’m a big fan of your channel as you often put a different slant on things together with good humor. Like so many other golfers my main problem with golf is putting and I have purchased a number of putters trying to find one that I’m comfortable with. I now own the Odyssey #7 as well as the Odyssey Broomstick, Cleveland Beach (which I think you already use), mallet - and a number of others. Being retired golf is my passion as well as my exercise, so I will spend money trying different things out and that is why I’m now looking at an Armlock putter. Being tall, I’ve found that by holding the longer broomstick putter I get a better feel and view for the length and line of the putt as well as a more balanced shot allowing the broomstick to roll back and forth before I let the ball go (a pendulum movement so to speak). Other normal sized putters seem to move all over the place in my hands and so the ball tends to travel offline. I’m also not a big fan of crouching over the ball (aka Jack Nicholas), as it hurts my back as well as not allowing me the full picture as I’m about to putt the ball. I’ve also tried holding the broomstick further down the shaft to see how the balance feels and it’s pretty good and that’s why I’m now looking at a Armlock putter to hopefully cover most of my putting issues. I’d appreciate your views on my comments as well as advice on what Armlock putters you like. Keep up the good work mate as your one of the best on the net 😊

I really feel like PGA will be looking to ban these soon By their own admission of banning body lock and side saddle putting I would be very surprised if they didn't ban it in the years going forward. However, I am a bad putter so I'll take any advantage I can get before it does get banned 😂

I really enjoyed this video, had not thought about the wobble, but now I realise this is a problem I have, especially on longer putts, longer swing, normally an average putter, good days and bad, probably more bad than good. Keep going with these great video tips.

Used to be a bad putter but made a few changes and I have improved a great deal. Having a couple of practice swings looking at the hole to get a feel for how hard to hit it and lining up a line on the ball with the line I need to take to remove one variable when putting being two important changes that have really helped me sink more putts. I have tried an armlock putter at a golf shop and it did feel like a much more controlled stroke.

Became a bad putter after spending the winter in Canada at indoor putting centre got the yips resulting to go to anchor putter in 2000. Since the ban have struggled since!!! Tried and tried all types of grips and lengths of putter except the armlock. Thanks for the updates on putter tech.

Just switched to arm lock this year. Hoping to see a change to my putting game. Feels more deliberate when I put- more connected and solid with the putter.

I've actually switched from a 2 ball to a Odyssey Tank arm lock putter last year. They are actually pretty good. I love how heavy they are.

I've been quite intrigued by these putter types and would love to see what effect they have on my short game. I'm not a bad putter at all, but there are definitely major improvements needed in my short game...

I’ve been using armlock putters for soon to be thirty years, prolonging regular shafts, since there were no ones on the market! Yesterday I tried out the Cobra armlock, and I am now considering buying one. One trait of putting still not being used by the elite, is the open stance, making it possible to let the upper part of the trail arm be sitting against the body. The left hip would be placed forward, enabling the head be situated well behind the target line.

Good putter. Tried a few different grips but always feel comfortable with the traditional right below left for pace control.

Working hard on my putting just had a lesson now trying to get the muscle memory going but better as of this week 😊

I have like the idea of a armlock putter. As an older golfer (65), with back issues while playing, I like the fact that you can have more of an upright stance when putting. Seeing the difficulties with traditional putting, stance and motion of the swing, I think that the armlock would benefit. I have several putters, all stock 35", and will dabble with altering and building my own armlock. i'll let you know how it goes.

Very interested in trying this. I tend to be right hand dominant and want to make my hands neutral. I am not a bad putter but trying to always feel the put into the hole makes me close but not in ax often as I need. Great video btw.

Just bought the Sub70 armlock putter. Love it. Keeps your hands still, while you rock your shoulders. I would own the face on short putts. This forces me to keep the face square.

I own a 2nd hand SIK and love it. I also own old eyes or something, had a base case of the lip-outs last Friday. However, that's a lot better than missing by inches. I believe the advantage I have with it results from the whole structure prevents my hands from getting involved. Swing with the rolling shoulders instead of the arms and hands, simplicity reduces opportunities for errors.

anything that can help is fine by me my putting is very in and out mostly out.lol..love the vids watch all the time the chipping vids help me a lot and defo improve my chipping with 2 short practice sessions,cant wait to see you guys back out on the course.

I've tried the armlock recently..I like it for short putts better than on long ones but I'm going to keep with it for a while

After years of struggling my putting has improved dramatically after reading Bob Rotellas book" Putting out of your mind" My attitude to putting has been the difference. I havent changed putters, stance, grip, just got out of my own way. Never been so confident with the flat stick😊

Great video Mark. Putting is huge. I’ve gained a lot with the Spider over the last year, but would definitely consider giving this a try. Agreed on growing the game. People and golf courses/owners in general need to relax. Tried to bring my wife out to a nice course (she doesn’t play much at all) and wouldn’t let her go on with flip flops…dressed like a pro in every other way. Like c’mon. Are we trying to grow this game or what!?!

I purchased this putter 5 days ago and it has completely cured my putting nightmare season

My current putter is a Odyssey #1 putter and I do okay. I can still improve and was considering purchasing a mallet putter soon.

I’m a bad putter and I have a right arm 7cm shorter than my left after an injury and 5 operations. I’ve been recently experimenting with left arm low as it’s my long arm. This has been a big improvement to make me now just bad at putting. I’m looking to try armlock to remove the arms from putting all together. Finger crossed it will help.

I used to use a belly putter back in the 2000’s and loved it for short to medium putts but hated it for very long ones. I’d give this a try.

Been wanting to try one.

I putted with a belly putter from 2008-2010 and when a switched back to a regular length the good results followed. It cleaned up my technique a lot.

I'm a beginner and told i'm a good putter .. need to experiment with putter shapes and weights but new the game and enjoying it

I discussed if armlock putting would be banned or not in the future with someone who was instrumental with the current rule. He thought it would not be as anchor point on the arm is moving significantly vs the belly and chest anchor points are not. We shall see. Nice review of the Cobra Putter and method. The grip and putter looks nice. 👍

Hi Mark, "Average putter" for my handicap. I struggle between 4 and 10ft and would love to make more. Personally, regardless of technique, the aim is to get the ball in the hole with the least shots. However you do it should be up to the player so no bans from me!

Lovely work, just been getting into golf in the past few months. Struggling to get any distance putts, so it’s not a strong point. Would love the opportunity to use this putter, I love the biomechanical aspect of it, and I have just been using an old hand me down.

Always been an “ok” putter but over the course of a season on average I would lose some fraction of strokes when compared to players of equal handicap. I have struggles with pace, more than line, I try to make my misses on the high side and past the hole but when pace control goes, I use the strategy to look at the hole rather than ball during my stroke. It mostly helps, I can see the weight needed, but you tend to get a miss strike, often I think from putter face height throughout the stroke. I like the idea in this new cobra putter with a rolled face and more tech on distance control with off centre strikes. I look forward to giving it a go.

I agree with your view anchoring in the pro game yes ban it but us guys who want to enjoy our Saturday morning golf should use any putter as you put the most in the game that how I judge my enjoyment and if I can sink more putts and get a good score, gets me back out playing, enjoy golf main thing

Great content ! I’m a good putter at distance not anything within 12 feet or a distance I should get! I’m right eye right a hand dominates, open shut. Aim is a problem. Just st like the idea of an arm lock. The results were interesting ! Keith

Good putter. Feel very comfortable with speed over almost any putt but do struggle reading greens sometimes. Auto 2 putt if inside 25-30.

Struggled with Yippy putting stroke in the past and think this putter would help alot

I’m 6’4 and arm lock is more comfortable. I bought that putter but I also removed grip and added jumbo super stroke grip. I also pointed flat side of grip to hole. Everything has substantially helped my putting!!!!

It is a more fixed point but it is still moving and can still twist so I don't think it fits the criteria of fixed point anchoring and don't see it being banned. Thanks for the insightful video! I am a decent putter, my biggest bugaboo is distance control.

I was a bad putter and started using an arm lock odyssey. Wanted a sik putter but could not justify paying that after getting my putter not too long ago. Would love one of these

good putter, using a Heavy Putter with an open stance helps me to see the line better.

Im a bad putter...i am currently 3 to 4 putting every hole, using a Ray Cook M1 from way on the past. Im sure the arm lock putter is worth the try.
