Great advise. This is why u should only play with 1 kind of ball. If ur going for a fitting get a place that fits u with the ball u play. Do not get fitted with range balls especially for wedges

When putting, you are not compressing any of the layers of the ball, even the models with insanely low compression values. You are only interacting with the cover. There are two options, urethane (soft) and surlyn/ionomer (hard). Urethane balls are the more expensive of the two and generally more coveted. A lot of shops will not put urethane balls out on the putting green because they’re more likely to be stolen. I’m not buying this. Also, I see multiple comments about Supersofts. Supersofts are a low compression ball, so they might feel soft on full shots when the ball is being compressed. They have a surlyn/ionomer cover, though, so they are not among the softer feeling golf balls on the putting green.

I feel like I've never been to a store that's using "premium" soft golf balls. I went into Golf Galaxy and my local fitters and they had beat up Kirkland, maxfli, and some Titleist velocity

I got a ping tyne h putter at scheels and it performs the same in store as it does anywhere else. Maybe scheels just doesn't waste time trying to rig their test putt area.

What putter are you using

20 years of golf. I have never hit a club that actually performed significantly better than other top brands. Except for lab. Their putters are unreal. I expect to make everything inside 6’ and with a good read (pending it’s an easier putt) inside 15’. My golf group is shocked. Labs don’t look or feel as good as a Scottie but their performance is undeniable. If ur a 10 or better and looking to shave 1-2 strokes a round this is the club.

This is so stupid, I’ve been playing golf for 35 years and it doesn’t matter what kind of balls you are using soft or hard a putter isn’t going to feel that much different, a soft golf ball isn’t going to make you think a putter is awesome.

That’s not a scam. They put out nice balls because…they are nicer balls. If they put out some hard a rock two piece people could argument it’s to push you toward buying a softer face, maybe a milled or insert putter. Bringing your own ball is best, even if the greens are far from realistic also.
