Great info, and I loved these stretches! I’m a pro golfer and I have been to the emergency room for what ended up being just rib pain, so I can understand. Really appreciate this video. Thanks guys!

Did you ever heal your rib pain permanently? Im going on year 3 of having this side/flank tenderness from golf and it STILL has never healed.. @@RobTheMechanik

I'm a right handed golfer with a big pain under my last left rib. If I press in tha area with my fingers it doesn't hurt but when I let them go it hurts A LOT.

Don’t let it linger. Find a physical therapist in your area, ideally one that works with golfers.

thank you for this, great job. Has had terrible pain for 2 weeks and rested from golf 1 week and it is still there. Surprisingly the stretch really helped. I used to run a lot and I believe I fell into the same trap as beginnerrunners do; too hard, too soon, for too long. Im in the best shape of my life even though I'm older now, as my job is physical and I lift a lot of weights. So I just couldn't help myself swinging 100 and hitting 100 balls on range. every other day.

Thanks for this video, started golfing in November this year and haven’t stopped playing since. Right handed golfer and currently have been playing with strain on my ride side ribs for the last month or so, think I’ll be taking a break. After I go to the driving range this evening of course..

Thanks for the recommendation. I started playing golf last month and right now I have pain around my left teres and rhomboid muscles. Maybe I hit the ground or mat way too much and hard. Any recommendations to help me heal those areas?

Welcome to golf, its always something lol! That area is a common region for either local tissue irritation of referral pain from either the cervical spine or thoracic spine. So tough to say. If the issue persists then get it checked out by a physical therapist in your area. You can check out this video we did a few years ago about dealing with pain in that area. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sX8dBJGfaXE.htmlsi=D3cOYPBYvzY2JejF

I suffer from muscle spasms generated from the golf swing. Starts out as muscle tightness along my right belt line and then moves to my upper rib cage and around to my upper back. At its worst I can barely move, can’t bend over and have difficulties getting a deep breath. Pain Dr. of Anesthesiology ordered an MRI of Thoracic area and proposes a steroid injection. Your thoughts?
@Rechargexfit
@Rechargexfit 5 месяцев назад
Could be a lumbar disc irritation or lat strain. When dealing with pain that limits your movement and breathing the recommendation is seek medical help. Seems like you did. Also consider physical therapist that specializes in golf.

Thank you, i started going to the range about a month ago after my mum passed but now my rib has completely gone on me and cant sleep, what can i do just to be able to have a gentle go at the range and not flare it up again, and how long does it take? im left handed and bottom left rib front is not letting me move

Hey sorry to hear. Rib cage pain is tough to manage because its often related to non-muscle tissues like ligaments and joints. Those tend to linger for a bit. Best recommendation is seek out a golf focused physical therapist in your area. These videos are a good starting point, but should never be a replacement for a thorough evaluation from a clinician. Solve the issue instead of having be a limiting recurrent.

Keep injuring left side ribs - was out for 4 months last year (July injury) - now, almost exactly a year, they are beginning to hurt again. I play a lot so am conditioned (overuse), how can I rehab and prevent this from happening again?
@Rechargexfit
@Rechargexfit Год назад
First it's important to figure out what mechanism in the swing could be contributing to the issue. Then it's about loading that movement pattern in a gradual way. Often time we deal with the pain, and move on. Take the time to figure out what could be contributing to the issue.

i was at the range sunday after playing friday and saturday, long story short after hitting 200 balls mostly with driver at full send my rib started to hurt. so i reluctantly stopped. its now tuesday and it still hurts. not terrible but here is my problem i have a golf trip planned friday im driving down to myrtle beach. my question is how long do u think this will take to heal? it hasn't gotten worse and i looked up intercostal muscle injury (which i think it is) and it gave me the range of a few days to 8 weeks. not really helpful. i don't have bruising so i don't think its torn. just hoping i can play Saturday and the rest of that week. please advise anything will be helpful. thanks!

Typical inflammatory process is 3-7 days. So if it’s a minor irritation will be at least that. Now after it may feel better but could still be sensitive or vulnerable to further injury. So definitely best to get it checked out by a physical therapist and in the mean time let pain be your guide. Hope that helps.

I used to think I had a cracked rib and my instructor said it’s a slipped rib then I went to the chiropractor got adjusted and cracked. My rib couldn’t play golf for eight months. My instructor said that when he had a slipped rib, his chiropractor popped it back in. I work as a medical rep in orthopedics, And my surgeon told me there’s no such thing as a slipped rib it’s intercostal chondritis, or an innercostal strain. Never had this issue, but it always flares up when I hit too many balls, and I feel like it starts at my right scapula and runs all the way around. Could this be from when I release the golf club and don’t possibly complete my downswing all the way without full rotation? Have you had anybody with the same issue?
@CSAcrazy
@CSAcrazy 6 месяцев назад
I have the same issue. Hurts from right below my pectoral in leadside, goes to my ribs on the side all the way back to my scapula/rhomboid in back. Been out for a month trying to let it heal and still feels the same. Don’t know what specific cause is so I can avoid or correct and don’t know the best way to heal. I’ve seen a dozen or so people talk about it but only the same questions and never any answers

Today is your lucky day I found on Reddit in a golf costochondritis group and it saved my entire golf career . I was thinking I would never be able to golf again. It’s one simple stretch with a thing called a back pod for the costa vertebrae muscles that get scared up and inflamed read up on the back pod reviews i bought it on Amazon I stretch with it every morning and after every round and I’m able to finally play and not be in pain. I’ve had injections in my back. I’ve been told I need surgery. All of that can be avoided with this one simple gizmo called a back pod. It’s changed my life.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r7ve6nNVdWc.html this guy will change your life as he changed mine. I will swear on this thing for the rest of my life and I tell everybody about it when I’m back on the golf course because I thought I would never be able to golf again with this pain. Listen to what this guy saying it sounds pretty stupid at first but if you think about it, those joints are frozen around your spine and it’s causing the front ribs to overwork. That’s why you get a lot of the pain up in the front as within the back until you release these joints and stretch them continually, you will continue to be in pain

@@CSAcrazyhow are you now? Did you find any way to alleviate things? I’m now exactly the same here, right side mostly etc, im new to golf and have hit about 500 balls in the last week and have been fine up until yesterday but ended up doing another 250 balls last night at my local range whilst trying to hit driver over and over, and could feel pain towards the last 100 balls but pushed through it. I think its def chostochondritis after doing some research. Its difficult to know what to do to alleviate the pain in the short-term apart from taking ibuprofen, but going forward i’ve got some nicer clubs (was using things from the 80’s) and getting golf lessons to fix my swing in a couple of weeks.
@CSAcrazy
@CSAcrazy 5 месяцев назад
@@SP3NCE after a month of light activity and resting and stretching more I thought I was healed, went to range and re-aggravated it 15-20 balls in. Went to a chiropractor and got an adjustment that only loosened up the back muscles that were tense from the intercostal muscle strain in ribs. That still hurts so it looks like I’ll be out for recovery a little longer. They put me on some workouts to do to rehab the muscles and strengthen them but it looks like I’ll have to slowly get to where I can swing full on by building up core strength and intercostal muscles and cartilage. I would recommend rest till the pain is gone or only very minor and then slowly strengthen core and mobility before you try full on swinging again
