Can any of them be less of a perfect person - yes. But politics or impartiality seldom if ever plays into their votes. However, over the years various Supreme Court justices have ruled in such a way that allowed the US Government to exercise power that it didn't implicitly have. For instance, there's no mention of God, immigration, abortion, or even democracy in the Constitution. Multiple justices made rulings based on their nebulous interpretation of the Constitution and thereby made up laws to suit a current political agenda.

@@cecilr7986 There are many cases of social items that are not in the constitution. That was taught in school and college. There are also many books on the SCOTUS that mentions all of this. That does not mean they wrote laws. And I have read all about the various justices of the past who were more than a little political. The reason why there are still such cat fights in Congress is to put a liberal or conservative judge on the SC. That does not mean that they are immoral or corrupt or that the always rule in favor of one party or the other. They are voting as Presidents and Congressmen hoped they would due to their interpretation of the Constitution. In the future, the Congressmen need to come up with better things to accuse the judges of to keep them off the High court. It almost worked several times before and is working for one of the Presidential candidate. A good conspiracy theory works if you have the right media to spread it around.

Exactly. It is not the job of supreme court justices to make new laws but to administer the existing laws passed by congress. This I learned in "Jurisprudence for Dummies 101" in prep school.

It’s “their” job to interpret the constitution as it’s written. As we move forward into the 21st century, our borders have changed and we no longer have 13 colonies. The current border was well established long before this century. The courts didn’t mention abortion because it wasn’t legal then but addressed it with Roe vs Wade. This SCOTUS didn’t change anything,they sent it back to the states to decide. Illegal entry into the country isn’t a right. Free healthcare is not a right it’s a privilege. Flying an American flag upside down,sideways or anyway is not illegal. Burning a flag is not illegal. Freedom of expression is a fundamental right. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right. Refusing to use delusional pronouns is a fundamental right. Using them for yourself is a fundamental right but forcing others to use them is infringing upon others rights. Over the decades the SCOTUS has been made up of both parties majorities. Please explain to me why you feel so offended that a judges wife flew her personal flag on her property upside down? The republicans will never agree to more justices being put in on an election year (unless it's one of theirs - Amy Coney-Barrett.) The maga republicans like having this supreme court, because they've been helping them. They had 6 extra republicans in robes. I think the democrats were hoping to have some reforms/term limits/code of ethics /no bribery/etc in place before bringing more in. But they were also expected to self police, and remove judges who were not performing their jobs to be fair and impartial. If they cannot or will not take care of these issues, Congress has no choice but to step in and investigate on behalf of we the people who the courts serve.

I have watched as Congress has tried to press morality on those they disagree with. I does not work for me. I know exactly what Congress is trying to do and have been trying for years. I know Congress has the right to do some things, like impeach the President of the US for things like wearing the wrong color of shoes, but that does not mean they should.

They are not supposed to display political bumper stickers or signs, donate to political campaigns, or do political endorsements. Alito has come out publicly for MAGA with these flags. This undermines the public trust and calls his decisions into question. The gifts and trips Alito and Thomas have taken and not reported are far more egregious imo, but added together, they need to be censured, investigated, and likely impeached. They can’t be trusted to be even slightly impartial. Also, you can’t deny that the refusal of McConnell to confirm a new Justice during an election year under Obama, then pushing in 2 justices during Trump’s presidency was fair. Personally I’d like to see judicial independence remain. Perhaps a board of judges who police other judges and are authorized to investigate and punish judges for ethical infractions or misapplying the law with the Supreme Court being subject to them also.
