Gone Girl (Starring Rosamund Pike & Ben Affleck) Movie Review 

Yeah that whole movie was just one big testament to the advanced stage of Peter Jackson's paranoid schizophrenia.

movieman82us I guess if someone only cares for the fantasy setting and the action scenes, it would be nice. Other than that, I guess it has some good scenes and good cinematography. The only 'great' thing about it is Smaug's design, and that's almost completely undone by the scenes they have him in and the horrendously executed molten gold sequence. That was really bad CGI.

Hope you weren't taking my comment seriously. I was actually joking because Chris Wright called somebody who didn't like a few David Fincher movies a philistine. I happen to love Desolation of Smaug but I certainly don't have a problem with people who don't like it. If we all had the same opinion life wouldn't be interesting. We're human beings, not robots. :)

People complain that it was style over substance, that it was an unnecessary remake of the Swedish version and that Rooney Mara wasn't as good a Lisbeth Salander as Noomi Rapace - the main argument I've heard is that Rapace played the character like a walking middle finger, whereas Mara played her like a withering wallflower, when the fact is that in the books the character is a mixture of both. But people had gotten used to Rapace so they automatically preferred her over Mara (despite the fact that Mara got a well deserved Oscar nomination), in the same way people feel when they recast superheroes today. But I actually prefer Fincher's version over Oplev's and I wish he could finish the trilogy.

No. I believe that some films don't need to go for the fun aspect to entertain audiences. Sometimes i see films as a personal enrichment.

No it's not. You either read the book or saw the movie, so YOU know what it means to say "she is not who she says she is." But without being informed by book or movie, it could mean a lot of things. That she's involved with online porn and is "disappeared" in a Craigs List hookup. That she's much more evil than her diary suggests so that the audience ends up applauding Affleck's killing of her. On it's own, that reveal reveals little. Everyone knows this is a mystery going into it. SOMETHING has to be not as it seems.

if you havent read the book or watched the film and you hear that you know something is up with the wife. the phrase "the wife isnt who she says she is" is giant spoiler. it means she is lying. it also alludes to her having a much bigger role and ultimately gives you the feeling of her being bad. if you have not read the book or seen the film that gives away too much because you will be waiting to see who she actually is and when she is revealed to be a lyer and is framing her husband the term "the wife isnt who she says she is" is a colossal spoiler. you cant argue it isnt, telling people there is a twist in a film is inherintly a spoiler. and this is one step further by basically telling the audience where the twist is coming from.

Gone Girl used subtle forms of dark humor to allow for a rollercoaster of emotion during the movie. For example, the part where Nick says, "You. Fucking. Bitch." And like they said it's just absurd how the media is portrayed so realistically and yet still so true. Hope that helped explain things.
