***** There's no way that people from Naples would go in a new stadium (even if it's the best in the world) in such numbers (that you refer, 100K), like in the time of Maradonna. I'm just watching the statistics about the attendance in Serie A now, and Napoli has an average, less than 40K (about 38). However, as I've said above, when they'll start playing on a new, modern stadium (without the athletic track), the numbers will increase to at least 50K (average), and in the big games, both from Serie A and CL, it's gonna be full! And for the other thing that you're saying - no, there's no rich sheik! But there are enough rich people in Naples, and the president was ‘fighting’ the city authorities to give him a permission to buy out San Paolo, and to be in the possession of the club (as it should be), but they couldn't agree on the price. Last news were that they've finally agreed, and that there are looking at the plans for reconstruction, to make it quite different and with all modern attributes. There are several options (all of them good), the main difference is in the capacity, which starts from 40K, up to 75K. And according to those same news, Napoli's president wants to go with the smallest one. I hope that he won't do that, 'cause they should have a stadium of between 50K and 60K, just as every big team. However, the most important is to finally get a new stadium, 'cause Napoli is a team that deserves it!

Well, although I (personally) think that 70K would be too much for them, I surely wouldn't mind seeing them playing on such a stadium. I mean, their current attendance, for this season, 2016/17 is 36K (which is less than last year, when it was 37.5K). So, 70K seems kind of out of their reach (although, such a huge city, with only one team, shouldn't have any problems filling even a stadium of 70K. Think about it, in the 80's and 90's, the average attendance on San Paolo was close to 80K, which is a proof that IF THEY WANT TO, Napolitanas could fill a 70K stadium with no problem). However, the reality of nowadays says otherwise, and the abovementioned fact, of 'only' 36K attendance this year, is kind of 'devastating'. BUT! The most important thing is that it's been proven that the big teams who build a new & modern stadium, always get an increase in their average attendance (without an exception), and that’s why I'm sure that if Napoli decide to (finally) build a new stadium (which they desperately need), it shouldn't be any less than 55K (preferably - 60K). But, the reality on the ground tells us that the chances of seeing something like that truly taking place, are pretty much as those of seeing a Star Trek ship, landing in the city of Naples (or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. In other words = ZERO). Because, we're witnessing for many years now, that the debates and arguments between the city council and Aurelio De Laurentiis aren't giving any results. And if you've read some of his latest statements (actually, the ones he'd made - regarding a new stadium, in the last 2 -3 years), he started by saying that if Napoli ever builds a new arena, it shouldn't be bigger than 40K (like the one of Juventus), and to make things even worse, if you followed what De Laurentiis says on this subject these last 2 years, you'll find out that he is lobbying to build a stadium for only 20K!!! WTF?!?! Personally, I can't understand his reasons, I think it's yet one more crazy statement on his behalf (like the many others he'd made), but it only tells me, there aren't any chances that we would watch this great team (currently playing THE BEST FOOTBALL IN ALL OF EUROPE) playing on a new and modern stadium, any time soon! And yes, a stadium of 55K to 60K would ideal for Napoli|! If the current attendance is 36K, if they move to a new and modern stadium, it'll increase (by itself only) for at least 5 to 10K. And with a right commercial & media approach and strategy, the attendance could be 50+K on an average very easy! And this isn't just me talking crap and wishful thinking, but a fact that's been proven by all European teams that have moved to a new and modern stadium (without the athletic track). Bayern: Before they moved to Allianz, the attendance was NEVER more than 50K, now it's 75K+, Arsenal - pretty much the same, Juventus - who couldn't make even 30K ppl come to the old Dele Alpi, now has an average of 40K...and that's exactly why teams like Valencia, Tottenham, Atletico M, and others, are moving to new (and much bigger) stadiums - because they know it'll attract more crowd. Valencia plays on a stadium that can hold 52K, and their average attendance is 33K, and yet, they're moving to a new stadium of 65K. Atletico Madrid has an average attendance of 44K, play on a stadium with capacity of 54K, and yet they're moving to a stadium that'll hold 69K. So...listening to Aurelio De Laurentiis, and his ideas about watching football in this day of age, we should say (think) that all the others are wrong and insane for moving to larger stadiums, and only he is right, when he says that Napoli should make a new stadium that'll have the capacity of only 20K people! That's an insult for all the Napoli fans from the city of Naples, if you8 ask me! A team like SSC Napoli should play on a modern stadium, of 55K to 60K, where a Champions League finals could be organized (by their regulations, it requires a stadium of at least 60K). If that's really the case, with the proper commercial approach towards the fans in the city, I'm sure that there will be at least 50K people on the stadium each round, and even more! And boy...I hope that some day (not too long away) we'll get to see it in our lifetime!
