Talent is not enough - every talented person will know that to be good in his craft has to develop it by practicing the gift God gave him! We were doing the concerts in Rio and he got up early went for a walk had breakfast and then went to the rehearsal room to practice - repetitions makes perfection or maybe closer to it and that is also a virtue!

luckily They're not remembering it. that would be impossible probably. They are improvising which is another way of saying "spontaneous composition".. so instant composing playing the things they are hearing in their mind in the moment.. and honestly maybe some stuff they aren't hearing considering the blistering speed.
@@brettprice527 When US jazz musicians started traveling to Cuba, they were amazed at the excellent technical, virtuosity, and musical knowledge Cuban musicians possessed. Then they discovered that Russia had sent their cream of music professors who prepared and trained Cuban musicians in all aspects of the musical spectrum. The best musical training on the face of the earth at that time by Russian masters. Wonderful.
More supermen, playing super jazz. These new Latin Jazz players are out of sight and the Latin tinged exchanges with Jack are out of this world. of course John is amazing. thanks for this video.
Wow --- he either has some extraordinary classical training or is one of the most gifted natural technicians I've ever seen...though I guess both are possible. Thanks for the post!
Hi #jim Hendrix, during the cold war, a lot of russian music masters were sent to Cuba, not only to teach but also to establish the bases of the musical education program in the island, during that time a lot of kids were trained with the best of the classical russian school, that´s one of the reason why there´s many cuban musicians in jazz (Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdez, Horacio Hernandez... )that have flawless technique...
I like how chick cores looks at Gonzalo as if he’s the coach that trained the main character throughout a movie and is judging what they’ve learned at the end.
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤❤❤
In 1991 I had the privilege of seeing a young Gonzalo as well, at Seattle's New Orleans Cafe. I still remember every detail of his amazing artistry. Long live Gonzalo Rubalcaba!
This is jazz with rice and beans!! Congris anyone?
This is one example that Cuba has tremendous talent. Chucho Valdes, Paquito de Rivera, Arturo Sandoval, Irakere, Los Van Van, Manolito y su Trabuco, Orquesta Aragon, etc.
I'm a drummer and when I heard Rubalcaba live when he had Julio Barreto with him, I had the same response. It seemed sensible to go home and burn my drums....
This is awesome! I've sent this to my friend, Mike C. I guess I should send him the Roger Williams version so as to keep him grounded and so that he will keep making me some GollyMosh. jb
Fashion geeks?!!..LOL...Just trying to be helpful since you asked me to confirm the shirt brand. And personal medium took the day off, did she? I imagine all this talk with dead Original Dixieland Band guys must be exhausting, not to mention Ol' King Joe Oliver and Satchmo........(:))
