In fairness to sugar she stayed awake for 18 years Edit: In the English dub, they said she couldn't fall asleep, but in sub, it says she can't be knocked unconscious.
Sugar being a child is the key. Easy to manipulate with the instinct to please the father figure Doffy. Just imagine her if she ever throws a tantrum as a teenager or realises she could have more power than Doffy as adult. Also a child making toys just makes sense.
Literally like imagine someone with this fruit touching like a admiral, warlord, or emperor. And then suddenly everything about just gone(haki aside clearly)
@@tesoro5620yeah case of df abilities are sometimes confusing and other time it can't evn be explained properly So it maybe possible for anyone or it had a haki factor that hinders it
@@tesoro5620 mind you at the time they were beaten and weaken so it wasn’t exactly like their were in a condition to fight back and with sugar command that can completey overwrite free will that come with Haki is the point. Someone like kydos who mind you is incredibly strong wasn’t bound so he have his free will. And even if you were to say that if he would use it on Kaido or higher up in their crew can be dangerous since it shown advanced haki can negate the effect of certain fruit in terms of unpredictability to defenses and more importantly lingering effect
no one would suspect a child being that dangerous. that's why you'd be easy to get close to, like how luffy was almost got. And once you're touched, its game over. i think doffy's thought process was to make sugar a tool to carry out his plots without anyone knowing she's the key to everything.
But we saw how with great haki you could avoid most of the "body changing" powers like how Law was turned to a girl but with haki he came back, the only exception being Boa devil fruit which Teach said to be the only fruit that haki can't cancel it effects.
It can't cancel the effects, but it can probably protect you from it. he thing with Boa's devil fruit is that it turns the people to stone, they are unconscious (as proven by the 3 amazons when Luffy first got to Amazon Lily) so they cannot use Haki at all.
if you can't escape before Sugar puts you in a contract then you wont even have the free will to use your haki at all. if you were a strong fighter before she made you into a toy then she'll make you into her puppet soldier who controlls you. and turning Law into a girl is way different than turning into a puppet getting put into a contract that are her terms only
Willpower affects devil fruits a lot. And given how smart Doffy is (man's did everything right then Luffy appeared and fucked his whole op up in like a day and a half) I'm pretty sure he knew that he could only really use sugar against normal people.
Yeah, pretty sure it would have never worked on the likes of Sai and Don Chinjao if they weren't so beat up after the fight because they have fairly strong Haki. Cavendish, Hajrudin, and so on aren't confirmed to have Haki so I can see it working there.
@@galactick3816Wow, now that you mentioned that, it makes sense that Sugar had to go to the Colloseum instead of sneaking around. It's the prime ground for reaping
@@forthesakeofalleggsinthewo3516 It's just my headcannon, but Haki is capable of supressing devil fruits (Can hit logias, can damage Luffy, The stuff with Law and Doc Q, and probably why Whitebeard didn't get hurt by Aokiji when he got frozen), So unless they are weakened, abilities like Sugar's wouldn't really work on them unless she had Haki of her own strong enough to supress theirs
Sea stone is the thing that suppresses fruits, haki just allows you to ignore elemental immunities. It also can increase durability but a one hit kill is a one hit kill. Though anyone with observation haki would most likely instinctually off sugar if she tried something while they could.
Im pretty sure the drawback is that if the user was knocked out, then everyone would go back to normal. At that point, everyone who got turned into toys would immediately want revenge, most likely including their comrades.
@@mr.fishlord7736 I don't really know the full extent of what the fruit can do, but I'm fairly certain that haki has been shown to be above DF powers in terms of authority. I don't think even Blackbeard can nullify haki. Of course I think the haki user has to be strong enough, I doubt haki beginners could break out of a df's grasp. I don't actually research that deep, however so I could be wrong. With how little I know, I'd assume you could just douse the toy-people in salt water and that'd free them. Though the weakness of the sea seems to vary via devil fruit. Sometimes getting splashed is all it takes, while other times it has to be deep enough, standing water.
@@ubermegaarchive9212 for the toy's dunking them in water isn't enough, nor is sea water stated to do anything. they only turn back when sugar is KOed. at most maybe submerging a toy could break the effects of the contract. but the transformation into a toy would always remain. Using conquerors haki it's possible the toy form could be reversed but the contract aspect complicates things because if sugar makes a contract with a toy after turning them into one, they lose their free will, and thus can't even ACTIVATE their haki to try and escape. it doesnt even matter if haki negates devilfruit powers because they dont even have the free will to chose to use their haki to do that. It's likely sugar could even make a toy use it's conquerors haki to fight others for her, and the use of that haki wouldn't revert them back because it wouldn't be used in attempts to revert the form, only to fight. remember haki is not a automatic thing, it's a skillset that you chose to use or not use.
(Mangaspoiler) the fight from law vs Blackbeard showed that you can overpower devil fruit effects with haki. So every decent fighter would just turn back. So i dont think its that top tier tbh
Sugar was a brilliant choice for the devil fruit as she can literally just walk up to anyone as an unsuspecting child. This was probably how she managed to turn so many people into toys up until this point, even tho she's just a child
Well in the case of the gladiators they were already restrained. And good luck walking up to kaido or latakuri future sight can really kill this ability
Sugar wasn't weak by any stretch. She handled a swarm of Tontattas and was able to react to Kyros' attack on Doflamingo. She also proved to be quick witted on several occasions not even needing any time to react to and do away with Robin's attempt to restrain her.
with sanji dies in katakuri's hand ( he always see the future so no way he will fall for that), if even katakuri dies then sanji still stands no chance against big mom cuz she has immense power of haki so the df power wont work on her
@@noobmaster1484haki is not a cure all 🚶🏽♂️ we don't know if haki can prevent the effects of this DF. Law defending Dr Q's DF don't assure that haki can protect the user from this fruit
@@Hariprasad-cd5bi bruh wdym by "we dont know"? it is 100% the vaccine, and this is wat armanent haki is meant to be other than just interact with logia user, deal more dmg and proctect the user and also, law's armanent haki power is not strong, he can only use basic armanent haki and most of his power come from df not haki so that is why he cant defend against dr q's attack btw, in order to defend themselves from those attacks from df (which are done by basic haki user or non haki user) u must have a really high power of armanent haki ( the user must have mastered ryuo) but if the user of those kinds of df (for example, hobi hobi, horo horo and some more) has strong haki power then they are screwed
The whole thing of Luffy being touched with the straw hats and the world forget him etc does make me think that you could also flip that with doflamingo If the fruit user was component enough whether it be their age, physical capabilities or simply not giving usopp that pepper and being spoofed by something like him at all There would be a higher risk of them considering to turn against doflamingo I mean when he is touched he becomes like 1% of himself and everyone forgets him including the executives that raised him as a kid/king So yeah I would find it convincing to have her being a child and overall how doflamingo was managing it have lower risk of being crossed than a 'stronger' person Now I'm doing my best not to say 'someone doflamingo trusts' since unless you are blood related to him like rosinante was or a possible alternate writing where one more of the executive change their mind and try to do something to doflamingo he'd always be ready I think He will always 'betray' you before you can do 'betray' him basically So maybe he'd have strings ready if a more competent person tried to touch him with sugars fruit in a revolt But yeah why take that chance when you can have a 9 year old that you find easier to manipulate and arguably get more use out of the devil fruit with less risk for yourself or something
@@SlackerXYZ she, and correct me if I’m wrong, could have turned ussop to a toy at bear any moment, but instead, fed him a spicy grape to torture him? Correct me again, but didn’t that lead to her downfall? And wasn’t she stuck at the age of nine? Correct me again.
Teaming of Trafalgar law & Don Quixote sugar is the best duo for fighting, traffy can transport sugar to enemies position & sugar can convert anyone into a toy, even imu sama can't fight against this duo...
Honestly her being a child isn't a weakness either, she just didn't know how to use it. The strawhat crew was alert but if a child came up to them pretending to be lost, they'd stop and help her, and sugar would have the absolute best chance of taking Luffy out before he could be a problem
I'd like if there was some worldbuilding balancing. Like if the specific manifestation of her powers was tied to the fact that she was a child and if someone older and more experiences in combat had it, then its powers would work differently.
Actually sugar is the best holder of the fruit bcuz she a child and no one knows her so she could just go anywhere and make a trap and touch anyone you can send her to akainu or Kaido and if she stays hidden from the world as the holder of this fruit it would be soo op but difficult is dumb to not realize that
It's easy to overlook it's strength when you instantly forget about every prisoner it's ever given you... The second it broke I imagine there at least a were a few that had a loud, OH FUCK FUCK FUCK, moment
i feel like if she touched kaido or big mom it might not work bc of their power difference, haki, size, or amount of influence similar to how law wasn’t able to teleport them with his devil fruit
Suger is one of the people in one piece that like I’d prioritize over everything killing her she’s to op she won’t die of old age and she can literally one tap you
Even if she touched Luffy, he could beat her. The downside to this fruit is if the person you touched has stronger haki than you, they can use there sheer will to break out.
I'm pretty sure with enough haki mastery, a person can just be remembered again. Kinda like what law did, so indeed it might be strong against characters with little to no haki mastery, it wouldn't work very well against someone like kaido or even luffy in this arc
I’m glad oda explained that devil fruits can’t just be abundantly OP. Like sugars fruit is DEF strong however if you are on level of current law/kid you could probably expel haki how law did against the sick sick fruit.
Sugar or Pudding's DF could've been used in the past that's why Poneglyph existed to remind people that a certain person and events did happened in the past
Well it's been known to everyone that haki annihilates any sort of df but here buggy's df is exception.. Luffy has one of the strongest haki in the worst gen, so idt sugar would have done any good against luffy at that time.. Cause law also said that his powers doesn't work against people who have strong haki.. Same should go for sugar too..
No it don’t it just makes the user not age and stay the same age as when they are it so if she was 20 she would have stayed 20 she got unlucky and ate it when she was young
Sugar's Devil Fruit is by far the most insidious of all the Devil Fruits as it literally robs people of their memories of anyone turned into a toy by the fruit and if Sugar puts the toy under a contract they are her virtual slaves! Seriously whatever human(s) desired this fruit into being was one sick person probably a World Noble or regular Noble like Sabo's family! Still its the reason why Usopp now has the epitaph GOD USOPP!
Still I wonder if Pudding's Devil Fruit would make her immune to the memory erasure effect of Sugar's Devil Fruit (I mean her Devil Fruit literally revolves around memories & maybe it gives her some defense to other memory altering fruits like Sugar's, similar to how Brook's DF gave him an advantage over normal Homies created by Big Mom's DF)! Another thing is what would happen if the Straw Hats forgot Luffy, they wouldn't forget their adventures with the rest of the crew (unless they got turned into toys as well)! Also Sugar's power can't alter physical traces of a person's existence like Kyros' statue & record at the Coliseum! So presumably her powers can't effect print media like newspapers, books, & presumably bounty posters! Presumably the memory erasure is similar to Pudding's but not as precise as Pudding can create false memories, while Sugar's can only erase memories of the existence of those turned into toys there is no indication her power can change memories (still I wonder how the Enies Lobby Arc played out in the Straw Hats memories with Robin gone, did it cause their memories to change so that they went to rescue Franky instead! Still you have to wonder how Sugar's Devil Fruit can wipe important individuals in a person's life from their memories without them ending up Super confused, like if Luffy was turned into a toy would the Straw Hats still have memories of their adventures without Luffy, like have them view Usopp or Zoro as Captain! However would Jimbe's memories be effected as his friendship with the crew is mainly due to Luffy and the Straw Hats role in defeating Hordy & Vander Decken! I guess its one of those things you shouldn't think to hard about, as I doubt even Oda has the mechanics all worked out in his head, as it would take a lot of work to account for everything)! One Piece Odyssey had an interesting Side Quest involving Franky getting turned into a toy by Sugar (inside a Historia) with Usopp & Chopper forgetting him but thankfully Franky escapes before Sugar can make a contract, thus Franky is able to explain what happened to Chopper & Usopp which they believe due to being aware of Sugar's power & what happened with Thunder Soldier/Kyros! Goes to show that one of the fruits biggest limitations is when people know about it due to toys without a contract or just learning about her powers, as it makes the user a target to knock out in order to free those under the fruit's effect!
Also though sugar being a child makes her the perfect user for the DF because no one will gaurd against her, there won't be issue like DF immunity because of overwhelming haki, because their gaurd will be down. Like she could easily beat Big mom cause Big mom would act like a mother to her and completely drop her gaurd, and even though Law has good Haki and an OP DF he wasn't able to use his room on her because her haki was to strong.
I find it wild that anyone can consider Sugar a bad devil fruit user when she figured out a way to turn people into toys that everyone forget about. Like nobody would rightly think about toys and then go “Oh ya, I can leverage this to alter peoples’ memories”. That’s such a leap in logic that one would have to be thinking creatively to arrive at it.
What’s slept on about this fruit is its effectively the immortal immortal fruit, meaning, as far as the principle of stopped aging would imply, the user can’t die from natural causes. And if consumed at an individual’s prime, such as the provided example of someone like Sanji, the user would be that much more difficult to get rid of. If I were Blackbeard, easily top five devil fruits I would be going after. Edit: Not to mention you have an immortal army with good durability who, if more powerful than their toy form and loyal to you or your cause, could be brought out of stasis for more intense conflicts.
The invisible fruit would be a good duo cause people can't see you and you can transform them into toys or another fruit that is fast or pretty hard to see or dodge
there is the theory that he could join cross guild because of all the time he was depicted with croc. but i don't trust it much because i can't se him working with people outside the family.
@ascrassin He was a Warlord, worked for the marines, worked with other pirates, was an underground seller of various illegal things, worked with Kaido, etc. Doflamingo is also a businessman and smart. We never thought Mihawk would work under someone or join with anyone. Cross Guild IS the crew of miracles. Doflamingo would probably join under many different circumstances imo.
Some other examples of great fruits, weak users: .Noro Noro No mi(Foxy) .Horo horo no mi(Peronas fruit) .Hana Hana No mi(Not saying robin is weak but she's wasting her potential) .Bara Bara Nomi(If someone with great observation haki and future sight had it then they would've been like another Katakuri) .Swamp fruit(Caribou)
@@awerty_. She is a good user but if it was with a Haki efficient person,it would've been better and would negate the one of the only weakness of the fruit.
In general only advanced observation users have a chance to beat this fruit since they could at least see themselves becoming a toy before it happens and then prevent it.
Strong pirates can dodge sanji or even use range on him but a harmless looking girl eating sweets can get close to alot of softys like shanks or even whitebeard.
it's a perfect support to law's devil fruit, imagine using law's teleportation with sugar's devil fruit, it would solo everyone, definitely one of the interesting devil fruits
I imagine that since we have hints that Luffy's fruit "seemed like it was avoiding the world government," maybe the Hobi Hobi no Mi actually reached out to Sugar in particular _because_ she's a child. Especially because she's such a twisted little sociopath.
Ever since wano, scary paramecias like ope ope have become less relevant due to Kaido and Big Mom revealing that if you have sufficient haki you can just ignore that devil fruit ability. Luffy during dressrosa would have probably succumbed to the fruit, but now he would just ignore it.
It kinda make sense if you give a child a really powerful devil fruit like sugar then they can either develop their fruit or limit them if the fruit stop them from age but give man a very powerful devil he can still develop it but not nearly creative like a child would or it could just strengthen them
