After watching this and going through the comments, I can't help but connect the light in their eyes with the line from Waving Through A Window *We start with stars in our eyes / We start believing that we belong / But every sun doesn't rise / And no one tells you where you went wrong*

i just realized something in the first act, evan's biggest problem was speaking out in the second act, evan's biggest problem was keeping his mouth shut

Gosh, the line, "You are the only...! The one good thing that's ever happened to me Evan!" always makes me a little teary-eyed. I have a friend who thinks like Evan, and she thinks she's a burden to her mom but this is what their relationahip seems more like to me.

The way Jared's voice shook when he said, "-asshole" My poor baby don't cry he doesn't deserve it

I never thought I could feel so emotional over somebody yelling "ASSHOLE!" But here we are ladies and gentlemen, I'm crying.

This is like the Reynold's Pamphlet/Burn of DEH, turning you against the main character.

I watch this is much and when Evan says "it's not my fault other people can" you can hear the crowd quietly just like "Evan wth why"

It's sad...At First Evan had nothing, but he treated those small things he had with respect...But now that he has a girlfriend and a perfect family to hang out with...He's crushing them under his foot and Karma's come to bite his ass... (Just the way Connor waved broke my heart)

Excuse me, I did not give you permission to break my heart and make me cry. Also the extra audio hurt really bad. You could hear that Jared was actually about to cry when he said asshole, breaks my heart.

I see a lot of people bashing on Evan for being so inconsiderate to everyone in the course of the play, but I'd like to point out something: this boy thought he was a burden to his mother. From the very beginning when his father left them it's very likely that he would start letting his imagination go wild and think it was his fault that his parents got separated. From the perspective of someone with an anxiety disorder, he would of probably tried to cause as minimal trouble as possible for his mother, and fail miserably because of his own illness. Anxiety and depressive disorders are very much real. Despite how popular they've become throught the years, there's still people out there who think it's just "in your head" or to "think positive", and even though it's partly true, there are times when you just can't control how you feel. You have a chemical imbalance that needs to be dealt with, and that doesn't make you weird or different. But most of us see it is as a burden, just like Evan. This boy was trying for years to get better, not just for his mother's sake but also his. He had feelings of guilt, inadequacy, self-hate, and to top it all off nobody ever bothered to look his way. If you mix that all together, you get an anti-social depressive teenager who only tries to fit in. In one point, sooner or later, we all burst from that kind of pressure. We're human after all. So how does Evan burst? By finally speaking his mind after keeping to himself for many years. And also by seeking the one true thing he always wanted: a family. I'm not justifying every single action he did, but I'm only putting some facts out there so you can also understand his side of the story. I think Heidi should give Evan some credit, since he's not really doing anything wrong by just staying with another family for certain days (leaving the whole Connor thing aside) Sure, he did a lot of bad things, I agree. But he was also suffering for a really long time.

This has been my favorite Good For You animatic ever since I got into the fandom. To be honest, my most favorite animatic in the Dear Evan Hansen fandom

ThAt'S nOt YoUr FaMilY EvAn

That fight in the beginning is so painfully accurate to how it feels when you fight with your parents. Especially if you have anxiety and depression. The super fast talking, the saying things you regret later, the bitter feeling that's left, and the anger when your parents are trying to "fix" you. It sucks in retrospect. This musical is so accurate. Also, side note: I heard on another post with this song that this is all in Evan's head? At least the singing parts, because Heidi wouldn't sing what she sings knowing it would give him a panic attack. The spoken parts are probably real though. The singing is just anxiety kicking the fights into overdrive.

This is my favorite version of the song because it not only adds his mom's intro dialogue, but the mid way dialogue. It really gives the song the perfect context

I still love Jared's voice in his first part, the animation makes him look really cool as well (I replay his first part almost non-stop when I listen to Good For You xD)

Oh my god i love this so much- this song is one of my favorites like it shows the burdens of the other characters, my favorite characters. Wish they'd give jared more uh how do i say this i wish they'd elaborated jared's character more tho

Ros, you're one of my favorite RU-vidrs even though you don't upload very often. I understand the entire animation process! I am an artist with a very similar art style. I honestly really want to donate to you but I do not have the money. Sorry.

My favorite part is the “Stop it! stop it! Just let me go!” It shows that Evan didn’t want all of this to happen but he got dragged into this because of the Murphy’s mistake that Connor wrote the letter that Evan actually wrote to himself. Evan didn’t want to let the Murphy’s down, so he did all he could to keep them happy and he tried his best, even though he was lying.

I've heard good for you in just the pure song form, but never with the dialogue and I'm gonna say that this hurts me more than the actual song does. Beautiful concept and art!

Okay, I'm late as heck, but I just wanna point this out: Guys, the curtains are there because it's all an *act* Evan is telling one big lie to the public, but when he is questioned behind the scenes (Alana seeing the flaws in the emails and Jared threatening to reveal the truth), everything starts falling apart. He knows what he is doing is wrong, but he still believes there is no going back, so he continues to act in this new role he has written for himself. Heidi and Alana saying *"I'll just sit back while you run the show"* only amplifies that this friendship with Connor isn't real. But then again, maybe I'm just over analyzing this. Either way, this is a beautiful and emotional animatic! I can only imagine the effort put into this! Major kudos to you!

Hearing the song with the dialogue puts things in a whole new perspective. When I first heard it I felt like everyone else was being jealous and now knowing how badly Evan hurt them and lied just, wow.

Why do I feel bad for Evan... when he says : ,,Stop it! Stop it! Just let me out!!" It hurts my little heart 😂😂😂😢

I love this song it really shows how much Jared relies on Evan to be his friend, and how he uses his snarky comments as a defensive way to hide his emotions. It really shows he's not just a jerk and he knows what it's like to feel like nobody cares, and how he though he and Evan were friends. Jared is the best character. You. Can't. Change. My. Mind.

I don't know why but the strain in Jareds voice when he says "asshole" is so convincing! It makes me feel like he's actually angry!

I love how perfectly their emotions are captured in the expressions and the movement of the characters. It is amazing.

ive watched this so many times and it just hits me so hard everytime, and the art is just so good. v creative, how the transition frm evan's mom to the speaking parts is a curtain closing. it really sells how evan is taken off guard by alana's questions because she suddenly barges behind the curtain. also the way connor waves goodbye shows how evan thought of how connor has 'abandoned' him, when in previous scenes he was supporting him. evan's mind takes a form in connor's shape, i guess. i cannot stress how amazing this is, btw

I'VE ONLY EVER HEARD THE SONGS, THE AUDIO BROKE ME

I've never been able to go watch the musical of this and at first I didn't really understand this song but those extra parts really helped me to better understand it and it had a lot of emotion this is wonderful

As someone with anxiety who once set up a string of useless lies to keep a guy I dated for a good while... shit I felt the suffocation and the pressure and just the crushing. The story behind this is so deep and powerful. Yeah Evan is definitely a jerk but... dude when all you want is to be important and feel special and you finally have a way to hold onto that... I don’t know I just get it. And its intense.

i love how the intro part is all cutesy and pink, and then it gets to the dialogue and its instantly sad.

I like how the highlights go out of course. But I think it's even more impressive how his mothers eyes got their highlights back near the end, it's really true that at the end of the play, she's the only one he really is able to keep as a close person in his life.

This song is an absolute masterpiece! It captures the emotion of the moment perfectly, and if this emotion wasn't released, Evan wouldn't have confessed so quickly.

Okokok, so many people have pointed out the lights in their eyes and I just love how everyone's is different. Heidi's leaves so quick, it's almost scary. Alana's slowly fades as she realizes that Evan has changed for the worst. Jared's flickers as he tries not to lose control of himself and fails. Heidi regains hers as Evan tries to apologise, a little bit of hope left that it is still the son she knows and loves so much. It's all in the details and I love it.
