Hey Christopher! @25:12 I think it would've been easier to just bevel the vertice via Vertex>Bevel Vertex in the dropdown menu. Just an easier way of creating a circle on the surface.

Isn't it much easier to use weighted bevels with a bevel modifier to isolate faces?
