Perfectly captures modern workplace superficiality. Clichéd platitudes plastered on walls: "Make It Better" in a bathroom stall where an employee is struggling with anxiety, "Embrace Change" while the executive boardroom is filled with one type of employee, all identical. Managers & bosses delegate meaningless work that they don't know well or even care about to overworked subordinates. "We're like a family here" line - when employers want their workers to devote their lives to a job that won't even acknowledge their identity and value outside of labor and would quickly dismiss them if they got sick or died. It's funny and depressing at the same time.
@yaboiviz7029
@yaboiviz7029 2 года назад
Also the empty attempts at "boosting moral" like the ball pit, the little rocking horses in the meeting room, and, of course, the birthday card. All of which seemed to do nothing in favor of the workers or boosting moral.

@@fistpump64 It's more to do with elitism than capitalism. Capitalism means starting your own business while doing other work on the side until your business gets its stride. The reason why it hardly works nowadays is because running a business means gaining personal power, and power attracts the psychoes. These psychoes then work their way to the higher positions where they care little about the responsibilities that come with it and as a result, a gap is formed between the great and the small. What's more, these psychoes want that gap to stay there so they can keep their power over those they consider lesser. However, they know eventually the small will get the nerve to fight back, so they either implement illusions of empathy, and isolating the dissenters. Eventually, they seek to solidify their power through failed systems by villainizing the current system that was supposed to work but was infiltrated, and praising the failed systems. Soon, they get people punching sideways instead of up, and they solidify their power through a staged revolution where, in the end, they dispose of the revolutionaries and sheep until there's only subservient cattle. Eventually, one way or another, the established ruling elite are killed by those seeking to free their people from oppression, no matter how long said established elite are placed in power.
@fistpump64

@@noahwilson3809 You accidentally kind of just retroactively described some of the dynamics of capitalism but are labling it something else. capitalism isn't just owning your own business it's unique the existence of a capitalists class; private individuals who own mechanisms of creating and owning capitalism its ceos who own the band make wealth from the band and do nothing well the works are paied as little as possible. its daisy Executives buying blue skys to fire everyone to thin out Competition. the art that makes the money is made by people but they work is owned by the ceos by the capitalists business currency markets etc can all exist under a socialist society and has existed under wrost Forms of government structure like slave societies and monarchy. its the owner capitalist and worker dynamic that makes capitalism capitalism.

This was really great! I love how despite everything around having such silly and almost kid-like design that seems to be so in these days, where the office should be a place for fun and freedom, despite these appearences everything is still only surface level, and doesnt really imprive anything for the majority of workers who actually have to DO the WORK. The animation is very good and filled with a bunch of small details, I love that some are sleeping on the job, while others are working themselves stressed, that despite those silly "chairs" in the meeting room, its no more fun a meeting that others, that the Boss does no actual work, simply walks around letting his secretary handle eveything and so on. Also the animation itself is has a great style. It really serves to drive home that despite all the empty buzzwords thrown around on the jobmarket like "we are a family, we have fun, and designs made for creative thinking and whatever" it really is all just empty fluff, The only ones who seem to have any fun at all is the social media people who get to show it off. And that final knockout about how impersonal and surface level all these niceties are, comes with the reveal that it was Mimis birthday all along, and noone even knew. And the boss so casually going "oho I almost forgot about it" and the way they all treat her throughtout really hurts extra bad on the subsequent watches. Noone but Coco even knows who she is, they just want to be left alone. Im glad Coco is still friendly towards Mimi in the end, but still also sad that even thier relationship is impersonal. The birthday greeting is normal, he likely only found out after the thing was sent out and he saw it on thier social media, and then he follows up with a generic work related meme.

Yeah I kinda wanted there to be a scene where Coco deletes the post afterwards, apologises to Mimi saying that he understands how she feels and that whenever she needs someone to talk to, he's there to listen. Although that would be too long but atleast Mimi, the protag, would get the need and not the want. Validation that she exists as a person and a newfound connection with her colleague.

I spend countless hours stressing about things that in a grand scheme do not matter and will not matter going into the future like small assignments and what not. But teachers insist so much to pressure you and think that it's the end of your future if you don't do it, while also being so rude about it. It's kind of egotistical to think like your class is the most important thing in the world and you should be treated like trash for struggling. Only for them to overlook how mentally draining it is to finish all of what they ask especially when they make assignments more complicated than they have to be seemingly just for the sake of it.

As someone who went to school for graphic design, worked an internship and got a job in the industry at a big company, its kinda sad how relatable this is lol. This actually makes me feel better about my decision to have gone the more freelance route not working for one of these companies. Love how everyone lives in this pastel world of toys to create an artificial happiness in order to increase productivity but it's all meaningless because everyone is miserable cause everything is lead by indecisive people and nothing gets done. Also, the idea that rules matter more than people do, reminds me of SEVERAL companies that shall remain nameless. This short film is a good representation for how irritating the mindless corporate bureaucracy is, especially when it's all tied up in the fake 'heart' behind these huge companies. I think this one is one of the saddest shorts i ever seen. All the posivity in the workplace is alien to how people are handled there. We are a family, but will not look at your work, and acknowledge your birthday. You are super stressed due to deadlines today that you forgot it was your own birthday. There is funny chairs, creative messages, ball pit, the espace is enormous, instead of a crowded workplace. But i can't feel but wonder why this deep sadness of pepple pushing her around, Giving excusses and bossin her, making her work as a messanger. That this is your job, and tomorrow will be more of the same.

I am happy I tend to work in places with no one having artistic talent so when one who does come along with such they are rather praised for it. Shame that has it's own issues like "oh can you do this for free" or "Think of the exposure!" and bull crap. Good Vid, Gobelins

You know I watched this while back, a few months before my first job. Appreciated the work but must say, didn't quite relate to it. I recently finished working at a restaurant for 5 months and even though it's my first job I don't think I'll ever work that hard ever again. And I knew damn well I'd have to see this again and my god, it hits so much different. Despite how different the actual job is, they have similar issues. ESPECIALLY with the managers. You really get the feel of how soulless and empty the "preaches" are. Just the sheer frustration you have to power through every day. It becomes pitiful just how used to verbal abuse and being treated like garbage you get. Like I FELT for her when she had to go back and forth to those managers. Stuff like that is just so... degrading. It really takes away you're humanity. Sure as hell took away mine. I really appreciate something like this that puts so many work thoughts in a perspective most can understand. In short, I love this piece. Good stuff.

Wow, the boss in this animation is just like my thesis supervisor. Never gives useful advice, just says good job, and never looks at the content of the reports we write. The result: we end up getting very harsh criticism from other professors (which might be helpful) but just the same day of the deadline 🙂. Anyway, I loved this video. The animation is awesome.
