I can't get over Nick's demo, its so gorgeous. I used an old cassette player to play the demos, so the speakers were a little crackly, so it made it sound like a recording from the 1940s. It was overwhelmingly beautiful the first time I heard it-- I still get chills every time I hear it.
what it sounds like to me: David's demo: childhood home in autumn/winter (mariokart!!!), comfort, kinda reminds of Home from Undertale Jon's demo: Summer remix!!! (pokemon mentioned!!!), sounds like the younger ver, like the transition between elementary & middle school, and the studio ver of summer is like late teens/early 20s, has the anime protag vibes Michael's demo: nintendogs?! teenage mood & way too much nostalgia, like thoughts that should be screamed but you don't have the energy anymore, and that messed up left over feeling of missing something/someone Nick's demo: phantom hourglass mentioned!!! those memories, reaching the end of a path you walked.same vibes as acoustic kid, alternative ending to slingshot?! Jacob's demo: chronotrigger! melancholy, "remember when?", soft & soothing, "hey, it's okay" "you've grown a lot, huh?" "so much time has passed..." "still home, right?" like eating comfort food, it's just not the same as before anyway, that's my interpretation, this is a beautiful set of demos :)
When you want to be nostalgic and put a Nintendo DS in the video... Simply perfect Jon Demo is sick, great job remixing my favorite Good Kid song 👏 Nick's demo has a great potential, remember my words.
Ah, yes, a demo track with Mario Kart DS gameplay and a reference to DSi sound. Every Good Kid release just makes me ask “Alright, what’re they gonna do to be even more random next time?” For the record, I’m all here for it.
The asthetic of a 3ds being a visualizer with the voice recording bubbles being colored for each demo is actually so COOL!! I love Good Kid so much!! Praying we get another Chicago tour soon!
This is beautiful! David’s demo feels like a cozy autumn day at home, Jon’s demo is full vibe mode, Michaels demo feels like a nostalgic day, nicks demo was just beautiful and Jacob’s demo was also such a vibe! Loved this so much
PHONESPEAKER DROPPING WHEN?! (in all seriousness though these were SUPER cool to hear on the cassette, the whole band did a fantastic job on these tracks!!
Hearing Nick’s demo for some reason really makes me wish they would make a Christmas-themed song. Call it jolly or smth First good kid song to hit 1goodkidillion plays
All of the demos are amazing and I have loved listening to them on my cassette! Jacob's demo has to have been my favorite though because it just has this sence of contentment in it. I really like listening to it and just looking out the window.
The instrumentals of Jacob's Demo leave me on my knees, begging for more. Would be cool if I could listen to it on Spotify, but the fact that it is on limited edition EP 4 Cassette somehow gives it even more of a magical feeling. That said, I would absolutely love to be able to listen to it more.
Part of the appeal to me and reason to buy the cassette and player was the fact that the demos were exclusive to the drop. Granted the pre order period was back in July, but at least for me personally I didn't get my package until a couple weeks ago. To be fair though, the players literally come with instructions on how to use them to make mp3's from cassettes and even then some people would still find a way to share them online. This last part means nothing to anyone else, but I was very excited to learn that Michael's demo was called 'Phone Speaker' as that's how I've been referring to it. I thought Nick's would be 'Winter Solstice' but I will agree Constant Sojourner is a better name.
What a cool project. All of these are sick. Id love to see them go through all of these and like make a full release version of each where they play a bit of the demo at the beginning with a lofi filter then pause with a quick sound effect of popping out a cassette to switch sides and begin full song version. Could be called side B or somethin.
