The Thursday night debate made it obvious: Democratic officials need to consider replacing Biden as the party's nominee. However, Gavin Newsom is NOT the answer. This aging political.observer has a suggestion -- Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse. He is well-educated, respected, and twelve years younger than Biden.

I think, too much prep may make matters worse. He is a old but seasoned and immensely experienced politician. Instead of pressuring him too hard for prep, Democrats should let him prepare in a more casual and relaxing way, allowing him to be himself with his exprience revealed in a more natural way. In that way he may perform better in the second debate. The situation would be similar to what happens when you prepare too hard the night before an examination. You stay up late at night and end up performing poorly on the actual exam day from fatigue and stress.

Biden can recover from this. He just needs to honestly own his age. Plus continue touting his accomplishments, experience, and wisdom. Finally, expound on his very capable and competent cabinet. Then contrast those attributes with all of Trump's criminal associates. If messaged the right way, his age could end up being a non issue.

When did “experience, “ cease to matter? Yes, years may have slowed him down (and those he thought he could count on, appear to be turning against him) still, he is not angry, bitter or vindictive. The mass addition to our nation, force us into mass growing pains; yet, unlike his opponent, he never “spoke a word of negativity,” about, us! Unlike his opponent, that never missed an opportunity! In closing, (GOD, forbid!) As for “nuclear war,” I’d rather have “experience with a good heart, working for one nation” as opposed to a “vindictive, (all for self/what’s in it for me) having removed enough “Classified documents,” with the intention no doubt to improve his relations with Russia! Complementing Russia, threatening “dictatorship,” how in GOD’s earth, can anyone think that they will remain in charge of/entitled to what they worked hard for? #SMH
