Idk, it's gotten to be very played out. It doesn't hold the same level of humor if you constantly do the same thing. Its pretty simple, if your wife made you a delicious dinner one night then proceeds to make it everyday. It won't be as good. Eventually it becomes blah. Another perfect example is the band Metallica, they were really cool when they came out but they need to give it a rest now. No one wants to hear them play anymore. But a couple decades ago everyone did. So Cody as much as I'd like to believe you, eventually these news word fail sketches will become old for you whether you believe it or not. Don't be like a Cody I knew in the military, completely clueless.
Can I just say that I love when Bowen and Ego are paired up in sketches? I mean, this, the passenger and stewardess characters in the CDC sketches, these two are already an iconic duo.
In this alternative Spider-Man universe, William dafoe doctor Norman goes into hiding after his identity is relieved. His book is so good because he’s something of a scientist himself.
@@shahartley I'll allow it, but we must then balance with either Kristen Wiig or Kate McKinnon, or possibly a hybridized version where they occupy one of those horse costumes.
William Dafoe nailed it in the skit , such a great skit it’s reminiscent of sweaty balls skit aka same word play !!! The true heroes are the writers over at SNL for this one !!!
And they actually went out the way to put the city scrappers in the background. They probably could of put any city back there and no one would know the difference but they didnt lol.
Not for nothing but that young woman Ego, is just striking. She is funny, funny, funny, and so pretty. Bowen Yang must be that top addition to the cast in years - and this from a watcher since 1976 . I think it is the team that makes this 90 minutes what it is and has been for pushing 50 years
Just want to put this out there. The majority of the people that say SNL hasn’t been good since the 90’s, clearly have not watched the last 3 seasons. I’m actually excited for SNL again.
I agree that seasons 44, 46, and 47 were good. Season 45 was good (especially the Eddie Murphy episode) until the COVID lockdowns happened. I don't care much for the SNL Stays at Home episodes. And, despite a lot of cast members leaving, season 48 is probably their best season yet. The first three episodes were kind of mediocre, but it picked up when Cecily Strong came back, and even though she left after the Austin Butler Christmas episode, it's still doing well.
Bowen never gets enough love in these comments! Such a safe pair of hands in every sketch, so much so I think sometimes his talent goes unrecognised. Big love BY!
@@Synthysynthsynth really? I think he’s a very talented comic actor. He always delivers a confident character, gets the jokes out well, never hogs the limelight and works as a team player, great comic timing… He just comes across as really professional and slick, to me!
Saying “wow, that’s a lot to swallow sir” to willem dafoe who infamously has such a lot down there that he had to wear a smaller prosthetic during a full frontal scene bc it scared audiences is soooo funny
Omg this entire episode of SNL is so good! I watched this skit twice in a row!! All the members hit it right! Bowen Yang and Mikey Day especially for me!
To be honest, "blowing yourself" will sell a lot more copies than "knowing yourself". The graphics team were really helping the author out right there.
@@solomonsheridan8272 except you won't find many people in Central Ohio calling it "The I-270." In fact no one does that outside of Southern California. We just call it "270" or "the Outer Belt."
I live in Columbus and there is a show called Good Day Columbus with the same token minority hosts that go to locations and demonstrate activities in such a trite way. Absolutely nailed it.
Defoe’s experience in experimental theatre really shows. He is awesome in this environment. And Yang kills it no matter what character he plays. These days I just wait for SNL vids and forget the rest of the crap on RU-vid.
@@jtwigg23 lmao okay. it sounds like you've already made up your mind. I'd maybe watch some old episodes of snl and you'd see its always been hit or miss. tonight i thought there were a fair amount of strong sketches. this one, dog show, tenants.
Being from Cleveland, I appreciate this sketch. It was nice of the interviewer to share his mic. And rumor has it that the author got his inspiration from a man from Nantucket. 😂
This is one of those every once in a while skits that’s pure gold and I was laughing hysterically right from the beginning. Willem Dafoe made it 100 times better as well 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Holy boar! This had me laughing till I teared up! Can you imagine the let down if you actually thought this was a News segment in Ohio! Thank you SNL, Defoe is Awesome
The show has a very peak-and-valley history. Some seasons are great and some aren't. The near-constant changing of cast members and writers does affect the quality, as does outside circumstances, like world events and sociopolitical shifts. To answer your question: yes, but that's mostly because they got new writers (ten), three new cast members, are giving the underused cast members a shot, and even changed directors (Don Roy King's last episode was that very scaled-down Paul Rudd Christmas clip show episode. As of the Ariana DeBose episode, SNL episodes are now directed by Liz Partick). On top of that, four years of Trump burned them out, so they're trying to be a little less political and a bit more goofy. It might not hit the mark all the time, but at least they try.
