Good Morning is a perfect picture in every aspects and I mean for me it was like watching the people in my area how they act like. So, it was relatable for me, This classic hands down a great work art and literature. It was so relaxing and a comfort watch for me. My favourite Ozu film.
I am happy that you loved my comment, I appreciate that even though the video is 1 year old and you liked my comment. You are a very dedicated youtuber. From now on, you are one of my favourite youtubers.
I'm not sure if this is the most accurate interpretation of this film. As a whole Ozus work is that of differences between generations but I'm hard pressed to believe that this one is entirely about the "out with the old and in with the new" sentiments that are more prevalent in his other films like Tokyo Story for example. I also don't know if this is directly about the Americanization of Japanese society. Of course that is an underlying theme but this film seems to be more about communication and the differences in how kids and adults understand the world. The idea of the television being introduced is not so much an American thing as it is a modernity thing and how the kids value it where the adults value other forms of simple entertainment (gossiping or drinking for example). Not sure if Saturday Morning cartoons are ever mentioned and while baseball is a very American thing the central focus around the TV is sumo wrestling, not American wrestling. Essentially while I tgink your ideas here are accurate to Ozus body of work as a whole (and any japanese artist from that era) it seems to be a very surface level interpretation of this film.
