It's a shame nobody understood the secret genius of Lieutenant Steven Haulk's radio program. A guy like that could have a show on Adult Swim nowadays.

@Mothman1992 8 лет назад
yeah. I actually heard that Williams had to help. because good comedy is obviously funny, and as you can see truly horrible comedy where everything falls flat is funny when played right. but what was originally done was just kind of shitty. like an unpolished comedy show. which is more annoying

Agreed. What's great about this bit is that Lt. Hauk IS indeed funny. Just... for all the wrong reasons :P . And his misplaced overconfidence in his epic fail material, combined with the bewildered looks of the other guys that he's ACTUALLY doing this shit so obliviously, just makes the whole scene work. He lays a fucking OSTRICH egg, and is clueless to the point of almost willful idiocy. And fuck me, that damn bike horn... Who else here wanted to shove that thing up Haul's ass by the end of the scene? 😆

So the usa funds terrorists to fight the russian funded terrorists but they join forces and ot escalates against the usa.the usa lost all claims to be an undefeated nation when they stopped doing whays right and helping in western Europe and started having hissy fits that a different country had different political views. The viatnemes were home the usa just destroyed it. Idk why, but when I hear the phrase “underrated actor,” none other than Bruno Kirby come to mind. Another one of those extremely talented supporting actors from the 1980s-early 2000 who tragically left us too soon. No joke!!! He was literally in 1 out of every 3 new movies from that time period and was always amazing in ever role. I still to this day haven’t seen many actors who could play the perfect slimeball, weasel in one film and then play either a cool, normal dude or even a stressed out “dork” or weirdos like that. He was never the “main guy or big star of the films he was in, but needless to say he was very quintessential in every part he was cast in. How has this man not had icon status considering the INSANE amount of work he did. Unfortunately, him being too good at being a supporting actor would make the lead role get all the attention. Movies lack the “Bruno Kirby” figure now more than ever and it shows!!

Bruno Kirby was a superb character actor and is sorely missed.

When I was in the 82nd Airborne in 1972 we had an officer just like Haulk. When I saw "Good morning Vietnam " All those memories came back... I laughed and laughed. Now I feel sorry for the little prick.

I met Bruno Kirby in Westwood before seeing "Spy Game" and I told him he was funnier than Robin Williams in this movie.

I saw this at the movies when it first came out. 30+ years later, "Oh ho ho, Lootenant Steve, oh ho ho, Frenchie" is the bit that first comes to mind.

Bruno Kirby also hit it out of the park in the 1990, "The Freshman". The man made every role just roll off the screen like water.

The fact we all love this clip is proof he is funny. There is a such thing as funny and talented and funny and untalented which he is.

I thought Bruno Kirby held his own against Robin Williams. Sure the character wasn’t funny but frenchy still made me laugh.

From a Marine in Da Nang: "Captain Hauk sucks the sweat off of a dead man's balls." I have no idea what that means, sir, but it seems very negative to me.

This character should've been scripted as "Lieutenant Weasel" because it fit's him so much better.

When we were stationed in Puerto Rico in the early 60's, we had a radio DJ on the Armed Forces Radio Station on our base who was a lot like Haulk. The guy was terrible. Lucky for us the Base Commander didn't like him either and he got replaced by an Airman a lot like Adrian Cronour. Could have been Adrian for all I know. I used to hang out at the radion station at 12 years old and helped him in the booth. I even did the Jerry Lewis Telethon with him for 3 years. One of the reasons I went into radio Broadcasting in the 70's. But no one told me you starved for 10 years before making enough money to give up your day job. I didn't stick with it. Found a real career that paid good money and stuck with it.
