Latin America and the Caribbean is a region marked by great inequalities in health especially affecting women and children living in poverty or in rural areas, belonging to indigenous and Afro-descendant groups, or who do not have access to formal education.
But many organizations in the Latin America and Caribbean region work hard to reduce these social inequalities in health and apply a gender and human rights approach when working with communities.
EWECLAC identified 10 good practices in the region that have proven to be successful in promoting equity in women and children health.
These initiatives have a monitoring and evaluation mechanism that shows their results in addressing social or structural determinants of health and health inequities affecting women and children.
We can learn from them. Their working models can be implemented on a larger scale or replicated in other contexts.
