The 350s are addictive! As you know I have two now, and love tinkering with them when I can’t get out. (I blame some of this on Tiger Ness!) But they are so enjoyable to work on as well as ride, so an excellent hobby machine too! Keep on doing what you are doing with your videos, as the sheer diversity of subjects and locations you go to, regardless of mode of transportation is unparalleled!
"The 350 engine is a gem" .... Ain't that the truth. It's so good at what it does; I just love it. And the sweetest gearbox you could ever wish for. Good to see you back riding Bruce.
Great video Bruce and I totally agree I love this bike. Been out last couple days for hours, I didn’t wanna come home 😂 I also wish they did trail kit for it. It’s so versatile, stick some trail tyres and push the handle bars forward it’ll go anywhere you want.
I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos Bruce. Your channel is very entertaining, full of historical landmarks, beautiful scenery, and shows that you are humble and passionate about the land you live in and the things you own. Those are the reasons I like your channel so much. Thank you for putting time and effort in all you do, and sharing your passions. Cheers mate, Steve.
Lovely scenery even in the winter , nice quiet, i reckon your right 40 m p h on them roads is enough 👌 Bet its even better in the summer with dry roads 😀 Marvellous 😊
Yes there's some great days in winter Bruce, I love to get out , I never put my bikes away for winter, I'd be mental after a few weeks of not riding! And yes the classic 350 IS the ideal winter bike! Enjoy your rides Cheers 👍
A tonic as usual. You’ve stole my route! Did exact roads apart from I went up through Garvald village back road. It’s nice at the end how it just opens up on to the lammermuirs on way up and over to Duns. Funny, at 17 I loved my BSA starfire on same roads, now 66 and somehow appreciate it even more. It resets your brain and everything feels better. I wonder if it’s a single cylinder engagement thing along with light weight , it just works. Keep it going Bruce, your a positive in this mad world.
Hi Neil, a great route up those roads and can be mixed up with several options 👍 Thanks for sharing your teenager years up there on your BSA 😁 Good thoughts on the magic of a single cylinder bike too! Mote films on the way! Cheers Bruce
I too enjoy your video's. I do have to listen hard because of the accent. Keep up the good work brother. Look forward to more of the same. I also have the Cassic 350 , have not been able to ride as much as I would like but try to soak up all I can.
Totally agree about winter riding sharpening your riding skills. I`ve been out today on my CB500X ( a bit too mucky for my red/chrome Classic today) and I rode for about two and a half hours on roads like you are riding here, then ran out of the weather onto dry roads for an hour. Definitely good to ride on some tricky roads though. Great video Bruce.
Thanks Dave glad you enjoyed it, and you got out on your Honda too!, the Honda 500 twins seem a popular model used by many as ideal winder bikes being easier to clean imagine, Yep a chrome Enfield would take ages to clean and would have to be done after every ride! My bike takes 15 minutes to spray over with Muckoff then agitate with a brush then rinse off with garden hose, When i was commuting i just did it on a Friday and re lubed the chain 👍 Cheers Bruce
@@Coastriderscotland I managed to get the Honda dry before it went in the garage, so although it is mucky, I will ride it a couple more times before giving it a good clean again. It had a good coating of `Muc-Off HCB-1` before I went out yesterday although I sometimes use GT 85.
I have the same gloves, can’t recommend them enough, brilliant for cold days! The roads have dried up for me today on the east coast so will be getting the Truimph out for a wee winter ride!
Another cool video Bruce👍. If you’re considering getting a similar second bike, I can recommend a Himalayan. Just bought a dune brown coloured one that matches my sand 350 classic. Got it for £4189 OTR, ridiculous price for what’s turning out to be another Great Royal Enfield machine 🏆. Keep safe and your excellent 350 videos coming.
I know that's a rural area but 11:00 Friday morning with no traffic!!! Funny you should mention metal detecting. My sister and family have 19 acres of land about 2 miles from the town of Battle in Sussex. My theory is and I'm sticking to it, is that after the battle the Anglo Saxons would have scattered away from the Normans in all directions. There's a good possibility that there's stuff to be found on their land. Next spring I intend to get down there a few times and start investigating.
Funny you should mention power, I have seen a few videos of people riding Welsh gullies in 1000cc plus bikes and literally falling off because of handling linked to power and riding position. My best memories are from my ducati 250Mk3 up the hills outside Glasgow all on my ownsome.
There has definitely been a real movement by experienced riders to small bikes for winter roads and offroad riding in last couple of years, watching Nathan The Postman on here has probably been partly responsible for it 👍😁 And the running costs etc of smaller size bikes 👍
@@CoastriderscotlandAye, my neighbour in Plockton normally rides an Indian Scout, but for the last couple of months, he’s been on a Royal Enfield 350 Hunter…. He really rates it and says it’s the old school Volvo of the bike world… he’s an all year round rider too and doesn’t own a car. 😊
Dithering over purchasing a RE, is yours holding up well rust wise? I have a worn out Honda CBF 250 and basically sprayed it with WD 40/GT85and hosed it down over winter when I could. Dont think its much worse but was hesitant on getting something newer that may potentially not last well. Any thoughts?
The only thing that does not hold up well to winter use on the Classic 350 is the non stainless spokes that get a white fuzz on them, apart from that the bike had been rust free despite living outdoors uncovered 👍
Hi we usually do not get snow on the SE coast though the hills sometimes get a dusting or as last week several inches, North of Perth into the highlands the hills usually have snow most of the winter around Aviemore etc, The Cairngorms is like another world on those hills in winter, proper Artic conditions! Cheers Bruce
Hi Bruce have you considered a 411 Himalayan as a second bike? A bit more suspension and better for luggage etc. you can buy new for £3999. Safe riding🤙
Hi i have actually as amazing otr price! In its own way i think it is a better bike for real world travel and adventures as the new Himi, less to go wrong and proven track record 👍😁
Great to see you and the bike out, she is just purring along.😊 The roads look a bit greasy, I’d be shitting ma sel, riding down these road. You can tell, you got the confidence, not to worry about these damp/greasy roads. Fantastic roads. Hopefully I can run my own Bumble, on these, lovely scenery. I got lovely scenery, but I know the area. Be nice to ride on new roads. The 350, just laps it up with ease. Looking forward to meeting up with on Tuesday. Supper/Tea on me. Hopefully G is free. Keep up the good work.😊
