This is a comedy remember? The steps weren’t that hard ,Im sure they rehearsed it that way. Everybody was doing something; Winona talked her part, Thelma and the gyrations, Florida with the missteps, And James came through supporting his woman.it definitely made the part cute and funny .😅
Willona sung that lyric as though she KNEW she did her thang....I could picture her man stuttering, "Y-Y-Y-YES BABY!!! IT-IT-IT-IT WAS GOOOOOD!!!" She put that "LOVE" on him. When Thelma sung that same lyric....she could make a man BITE his lip with arousal over her beauty. And...of course when it was Florida's turn... James lost his damn mind. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thelmas part was funny too when she was sayin “haven’t I been good to you” while doing that dance 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and Florida saying “Brekkkkk my heart”, with a reggae feel....lol
Gotta give it up for the band too! The guy on the piano AIN'T LETTING UP and the guy on the bass is right behind him! They killed it on Michael's performance too!!! #goodtimes
LOVE this scene. I've watched this video many times lol. But I get pissed off every time because you mumble over one of my favorite parts. Just saying. Maybe don't do that next time you record lol
I HOLLA every time Florida begins and James made it no better. Those wigs were put together, ya hear me??? This is literally my favorite episode. HAHAHA
Everything about this is incredible. How the song is lowered so Esther Rolle (Florida) can sing the bottom. How Wilona says, "Haven't I been good to you?" How Thelma throws in every dance move known to man in the 70's.
Yes, it was way too low for Willona and Thelma but the harmony was good to do it in Ms. Rolle's range. I just always loved how James was supportive "Sayng the song, baby!" That's REAL for our culture.
The best part of this whole thing is how it's believably well done. The women sing effectively enough, though not like trained singers, despite the fact that DuBois *_is_* . Similarly, the dance moves are cute but not any more coordinated than you expect a mother, daughter, and neighbor might have worked out, especially if they've done this bit for church shows or something before. Love it, love it, love it and have since I was a kiddo.
Minister Lenora: Thank you for posting one of my favorite episodes of Good Times. Looka here, John Amos did his part so well that I always believed he loved Esther Rolle for real. I swanny I swanny. Such a good show. Such a great performance.
Wilona look like Cindy Birdsong of Diana Ross & the Supremes...name changed to that...after Flo left...they were originally...The Supremes...but...we know the story...lol
A total classic! I had the honor of meeting Thelma here in St. Louis a few years ago when she made an appearance at one of The Church Of God In Christ Conventions here. She still looked the same as she did all of those years ago. She has an absolute beautiful spirit in person.
