I love how good times discussed relevant controversial topics like child abuse, drug addiction, domestic violence, sexual harassment. Good times is a gem there's a lesson to be learned in every episode.

I’m crying real tears ! The penny storyline was always my favorite Janet did her thing . I cried , I laughed , and most importantly learned from her. I always thought when James died it wouldn’t work but seeing how penny suffered and went through so much kept me engaged literally from her first episode when she followed J.J home . “Is he here ? .....He’s tall , dark , and handsome” 😭😭😭😭

People can go on about Good Times not being good anymore by Season 4 when James first died, but Penny & Wilona relationship to me helped save the show in some way, sure Season 5 Florida was gon because of Esther Rolle retiring but it started to get back on track though. (Well until maybe Season 6 ruined it.)

Ja'Net DuBois was a great actress who should have done so much more. She was tapped for a role in a would have been Facts Of Life spinoff featuring Tootie's interracial aunt and uncle (she would have had a supporting role), but the show never materialized.

rsg1988 I searched RU-vid for the "Breaker, Breaker" episode (or any scenes from it) but couldn't find any. The TV channel TV1 (similar to BET) airs several back-to-back episodes of 'Good Times' every Saturday afternoon/evening. The "Breaker, Breaker" episode is from Season 5, Episode 8. Right now, they're only in Season 2 so it'll be a few weeks before they get to Season 5, but I saw your comment asking about it & thought I would let you know in advance so you can be watching for it. 🙂

I'm pretty sure that he white lady here was the lady who fired Ms. Thomas on What's Happening for stealing. Mable was the maid but she didn't steal. The lady's husband was a gambling addict who lost a watch during a card game but then lied to his wife that the maid stole it.
