Wonderful to have two people talk about good vibes and memories. Music that bridges gaps when it does and calms people and excites people in the times we endure. Thanks Melinda and Mazzy.

Thank you, Melinda for a great video. I enjoyed listening to you and Mazzy talking about your feel good records. My Top 4, feel good songs are, The Beatles’ Here Comes the Sun’, The Carpenters ‘ Top of the World’, ❤️Heart ‘ Dog & Butterfly’ and ‘These Dreams’. I will tune in next time. 🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁 Life is better with music.

That list works for me too, except I would replace dog and butterfly with dreamboat annie. I actually sold a 17 inch Sony TV to the band heart when I worked in HiFi sales back in the mid-70s. No joke. Almost the whole band came into the store. That is also my high school stomping grounds.

Melinda, I'm 68 years old and just rediscovered Tommy James a few months ago. you are so spot on regarding his stuff. It's just plain fun and uplifting. When he was popular I spent some time in the Vallejo/Napa valley area and a lot of his songs just make me think of seeing the hot cars and reading my model car science magazine, building and racing slot cars and plastic model kits, playing sandlot baseball, and stuff like that. it's just fun stuff

I just came across this video testing the TV in my new music listening room. What a hoot. I move from Seattle to Taylor county Kentucky 11 years ago. And here I'm getting the Good vibrations from both my homes. You guys keep it up. I don't know how I missed this video until today. And for what it's worth, it was really sad when Bop Street closed. I used to go to his old store where he had a Jillian 78's in his basement. The new one was a heck of a lot nicer though.

Well Melinda I could have listened to you both for hours. I got some records I will look into from this video. But it was your expression of how these particular albums evoked certain feeling was awesome. Both of you are right… it’s the music and what it does for all of us. Preferably one would like an audiophile pressing, but it is not available and a reissue or clean copy is for purchase, get it so you can enjoy the MUSIC. Hopefully you will more of these types of videos.

In 1979 me and my family moved from California to Pennsylvania for one year to be near my sister. At Christmas time I was in the 8th grade and my school teacher she asked everyone in our class to wright down three things we wanted for Christmas so I said I would love a cassette player and some tapes. Low and behold about a week before Christmas a man knocked on our door with his arms full of presents for my whole family and wouldn't you know it I got a portable cassette player with three different genres of music on cassette. Bob Fedler classical music, Waylon Jennings Greatest Hits and the one that changed my life forever was The Cars first album! I love the feelings that album gives me. I remember playing it in my cassette player walking down the street at night to the corner vending machine to get a soda and walking with the snow falling on my face and listening to Moving In Stereo and the highly underrated All Mixed Up! Every time I hear those songs I'm right back there in Pennsylvania. Very simple but fond memories. It's amazing what music can do for your soul. 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵♥️🥲

There is something special about the acoustic feel of the US version of Rubber Soul even though it clocks in at about only 25 min both sides. I read a book called Growing Up With the Beatles by Ron Schaumburg where he refered it as 'the wood and smokes' album.

As a matter of fact, I’m hoping you’ll be able to sometime offer your take on the forefathers of Rock; Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Bo Diddley….all the rest. That would be awesome.

Hey Melinda and Mazzy, thoroughly loved this conversation you had. You've 2 of my favourite RU-vid channels. Some wonderful albums you both showed. Bit hard for me to pick a top 10 'pick me up' albums though 2 of my choices would definitely be "Abbey Road" by The Beatles & Deep Purple "Machine Head". They're my go to albums if I've had a particularly crappy day. I could throw in David Bowie's "Station To Station", Tommy Bolin "Teaser", Rainbow "Rising" & Paul Simon's "Hearts & Bones" as well being 4 other albums that never fail to lift my spirits. The rest of my list is open to my moods I guess. So many to choose from so I have a lot to ponder. Thanks for sharing this guys. Love your work as always. Stay safe. Cheers & love to you both. ❤❤ (PS: Being a relatively new RU-vidr, I think It would be a lot of fun for me to do a similar thing with either or both of you).

Prince was an amazing talented guitarist. He could keep up with the best of them. Sadly, I felt he didn't get much spotlight for his playing. I was shocked to see he wasn't in Rolling Stones "Top 10 Guitarist of all Time." What's funny about that is Eric Clapton was ranked number 2 on that list and in a interview Clapton was asked, "What's it like being the greatest guitarist of all time?" and he simply replied "I don't know, ask Prince."

Hello Melinda! Really nice video! 2 people who are telling stories, it gives extra joy! I adore that track "2000 light years from home", one of the best Stones songs together with Paint It Black! I think I ve got the 45 She"s A Rainbow and 2000 light years is on the other side. Great you played the saxophone! I am living in the land where the saxophone was invented! In Belgium! Adolphe Sax lived in Dinant and there is a statue in the middle of the town with a golden saxophone. My eldest brother Eric plays also the tenor saxophone. If you want to get to Nick Cave check his "The Ship Song", a favourite track of me. The film "Purple Rain" is funny. Prince who says to Sheila E that she must bathe naked in a river to be a member of his gang. She goes in the water naked but then he said that it was not that river he meant haha. I just checked out The Zombies. Great band from England, like The Kinks and The Who. The end of the 60's has brought us so many fantastic albums: The Doors debut album, The Velvet Underground & Nico debut album, The Jimi Hendrix Experience debut album, Pink' Floyd's debut album "The Piper at the Gates Of Dawn" and Cream "Disraeli Gears". The 9th Symphony of Ludwig VAN Beethoven ( His grandfather Lodewijk van Beethoven lived in Belgium first where he sang and played the organ and he moved later to Bonn. The name "Beethoven" comes probably from a little town in Belgium "Bettenhoven". ) is the hymn of Europe! Europe has chosen this track to their European hymn! I must certainly check out Van Halen one time. They made decent rock music. The Beatles their Rubber Soul is magic! Here comes the sun is also on this album. Love it! Check my Facebook-page "De VinyL-Pil" Greetings Jason

Cheers Melinda, You and Mazzy went to town on feel good records. I'm not familiar with Mazzy, but he certainly does have a complex palette of choices of uplifting albums. I'm familiar with your style and interests and really wasn't surprised by your choices. You both picked a lot of really great albums, some of which I have first presses of them. You also both picked some dogs in my opinion. Rather than go into what's good and what's bad from my point of view, I'll tell you that I'm shocked by a glaring and almost unforgiveable omission on both of your parts. 😁 Neither one of you picked a blues album. The blues are about getting through tough times, tragedy, and loss. When you're down or feeling bad, there's nothing like spinning a BB King, Lightnin' Hopkins, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Albert King, Willie Dixon, and so many others record. Mazzy got closer to this kind of darkness or commiserating during his picks. The blues can be like participation in a support group. When you hear a great blues artist put all of that emotion to great music, and he or she connects with you about loss and sadness, you become one with the great art. Not only that, but there can be happy blues as well. As Buddy Guy once said, "If you have the blues, and you play the blues, you won't have them for very long." Now that isn't just uplifting, it is transcendent. Gospel music is on this very same level. Isn't faith linked to suffering and how there is redemption through suffering? There was so much of the past and nostalgia in your picks, but what about the great music being made today? It's okay to have faves from the past, but if you asked me what my top ten picks are, I would add some music that has come out very recently. Whether it's Rival Sons, Larkin Poe, Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, and so many others making great music today, you guys are really missing the boat. 🎶🎸🎶🪕🎶🎻🎶🎺🎶🎷🎶🎹🎶🥁🎶

@@MelindaMurphy I apologize if I gave the wrong idea to you, Melinda. I've never been disappointed with you. I just provide some honest feedback from my point of view. Did you see my big smile with teeth emoji? I know that you don't know a lot about blues artists, and there may be some blues styles you don't like. Mazzy should probably know better, since I saw one of his videos where he played Muddy Waters' Folk Singer album. I know where you're coming from on not liking some blues music. When I first started listening to blues music, I didn't care all that much for acoustic folk blues. I was used to the rock blues styles of Zeppelin, Clapton, and others. I went to the Chicago and electric style blues first. Then I came to really enjoy the acoustic and folk blues, especially with resonator guitar as time went on. Now I love just about anything blues. 👍💖🎸😎

@@MelindaMurphy You can look for modern versions of old blues songs too. For instance, I love this Larkin Poe cover of Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues more than Skip James' original from the 1930's: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nsAUvYn97eo.html. Great video you two. However, I just recently got back into vinyl and it was a very fresh walk down memory lane, but it did bring back some things I remembered I hated about vinyl. Pops in songs and they are just dust magnets. It is not a hit on vinyl fans like you both (everyone is entitled to their opinions), but the format, at least to my ears, is just not as clear and consistent to CDs or even now certain High Resolution streaming music services/providers. Mind you I was in the US Army for over 20 years and I have a bit of hearing loss, but I'm just not getting what you good folks get out of vinyl (my personal issue I know). Wish you both the best in your RU-vid endeavors.
