You are scamming the youth with instruction that you got lucky with on a freak athlete… judge is 6’7 285, a little kid isn’t going to magically start hitting with these mechanics. And there’s a reason multiple players have called you out 🤷🏻♂️
There’s soft ball girls that weigh like 90 pounds hitting dingers using his mechanics the problem is short and simple you just can’t teach something that’s in the mind to uncoachable know it alls
Yep. And people cry when coaches teach it on YT. They dont understand technique over power. That tilt gets you there sooner. It makes hone runs look effortless
Shouldn’t be tilting your upper body at all. All this nonsense is happening nowadays with the bullshit “ launch angle” the ball will go if you hit it right. You can tilt your body all you want. Mickey mantle or Ken Griffey didn’t care about launch angle. The ball flew off the bat because of good mechanics. Not this spin off the back leg garbage this guy is teaching
I see a 6'7" almost 300lb guy hitting what would be a fly ball in a "too small of a field" for his size. Like a 10ft hoop in basketball for 7 ft player that can dunk with ease..... for 99.9% of all baseball players in the world,at all levels and sexes, this would be a fly out. A great hitter to me would be one that consistently hits line drives with a solid exit velo. But if you are a monster and it works for you... More power to you.
He isn't off balance. He is perfectly balanced. The difference is the first swing leads to the ball in a slight forward motion and the 2nd is the rear bat snap swing. Both are very viable and correct swings. Many great hitters used the first one. Newer style hitters do the 2nd. They are both , In terms of statistics great hitters swings., but the first has infinitely more great hitters than the second
@@chrismcallister3495First way is better. This new spin off back leg is nonsense. You ain’t hitting for as much power that way. Jidge is big enough to do it. You need to drive off that leg. Nothing has changed since years ago. I don’t wanna hear faster pitching because there were plenty of hard throwers than as well. It’s a scam for coaches to get more clients as if they found the holy grail. They are creating a bunch of slap hitters
Keeping the weight on his backside longer. Stance more closed. More rotation/torque on the right. Shorter swing for sure, which probably means quicker through the zone.
For those who don’t know when you bat if you swing you have to get the ball high and if you swing straight it’s gonna be a grounder but if you swing up it’s gonna go up and possibly be a home run if it’s powerful
Basically, Judge has a much better hip coil, and everything comes together in sync a little better than the other swings. He’s generating power more efficiently throughout the torque of his lower body, and staying stacked with his upper body on top of that.
This is basically what I was going to say. Most of the difference is in the loading/coiling phase, the swing on the right is coiled a bit more in the hips and also the arms are coiled clockwise a bit with more rotational buildup while the swing on the left is more linear. Also the the hands are late relative to the snap in the left swing whereas they are better coupled in the right swing, and overall the timing of everything comes together much better in the right swing.
The difference is that dropping your bat gives you a more powerful swing. The bad news about it is that its most likely gonna be a fly out if you don’t get enough power
The better swing was because of the timing in the transfer between the power in the back leg as well as the front. He started off with the weight on his back leg and right as the he swing he transferred the weight to the front leg, generating a more powerful swing.
Snap and tilt is awesome! No doubt. But people don’t realize how underrated keeping your wrist still is. If we moved our bat at the plate like the first video, our coach would have us swinging at the backstop till our wrist “don’t want to move anymore”. The good ole days
In good hitters: He shifted his weight as he strides as stops stretching his back in Great hitters of greats: He doesnt Stretch his back until he goes into foward stride.
Really Judge is rotating around his spine in the second video more than he is in the first. That is the whole idea of generating power within a phone booth. In the first video, Judge throws his upper extremities towards the ball instead of stretching, snapping and therefore rotating around his spine and his back leg like he does in the second video.
The first video show the guy lunging towards the pitcher after landing, the best hitters stay in their backside so they can be in control. When you lunge it reduces power and the ability to hit inside pitches.
Honestly I can only say that the first swing seemed to have faster hands, and less effort. Seeing as it is just 2 different swings from the same professional baseball player, they aren't much different. Second swing seemed to drag the hands, but both homeruns.
Judge is already at contact point when his foot hits and his back leg starts to generate power before his front leg lands. He also has his bat in a different slot in his load to generate higher bat speed and his weight is shifted more on is back leg than the other guys. Also when judge finishes his swing, he is leaned back and over the plate while the other guy is more vertical
judge is keeping himself on his back foot while maintaining a forward stride while rizzo gives away alot of his momentum to his front foot taking away alot of power
What do I see ? .... I see that I need slow-mo replay...on a loop... for my poor old eye balls! I'm about 15 minutes deep in watching this coach's video shorts now - fascinating stuff! Albeit unlikely I'll ever need this little nugget of knowledge, I love the randomness of things you accidently learn on the internet!
I see great hand eye coordination, natural physical ability and 250 lbs of muscle on a twenty something year old kid who has a gift 1 in 750,000 kids will have at birth.
He’s swinging off his back hip. Meaning his hands rotate with his hips simultaneously. Chest and head are positioned over his feet and he’s in more of a balanced position
This is why Bryce Harper can hit a home run while breaking his bat. The amount of energy transferred through the swing when directed by the hips is insane in a big or small person! If you work on hitting religiously, take your body seriously, and listen to the good advice then you’re putting yourself in a good position to be a dangerous hitter. Not saying you will be but you are dangerous sure gonna be close!
He turns his back pocket towards third base to load. Holds the load until after the ball is delivered and unloads everything all at once. Even if he misses it’s a prettier swing
On the left (with full length pants) he's staying back on the ball and maximizing weight transfer and bat speed (using his wrists) to generate tremendous energy/power.
The first he is using weight transfer, but you don't want weight transfer, bc that takes away from the explosion by the hips, which generates more power, which comes from staying back. And second, no it's not his wrists , it's a driving from the back shoulder and elbow, rather than a pull from front back, ik ur comment is 8 months old but I hope this helps
Judge is also cutting down his head movement, causing him to have a better eye on the ball while his body more controllably shifts the weight more efficiently.
I struggle with this as well. The problem is in the first clip he is lunging forward and collapsing the backside. He is just so athletic he can make up for it. In the second clip he stays stacked over his back hip and drives the ball
1st vid guy as a very level ish swing and uses his arms for power. 2nd vid dude has a good bat angle when he makes contact with the ball and is using his hips to move his arms. Also important to note that in the second video you swing like that so your bat stays in the zone longer. If your swing looks like the first video you don’t have much time where your bat is in the zone. So if you have and inside pitch its gonna be hard to hit it where as in the second video you can get to it inside.
It's the timing before the swing. Putting the front foot down timely before the swing. See ball hit ball. Sounds easy but it's not. Fastballs coming in at 96 to 100. The ball looks like a excedrin. (Physics.)
Mr Teacherman, please contact Yankees prospects like Anthony Volpe. Even if Yankees Leadership were pissed... . Pretty sure Judge, Cole and others support Volpe. Without your help, these prospects struggle to hit .200 in Yankees Uniforms. Until they leave like Estrada, Tauchman and others... . Somehow being lead of hitter for the Cubs or hitting.300 with the Giants.
The thing is what works for some doesnt for others.. the most important thing is to stay balanced.. stay level throuh the swing and extend througg the ball.. judge is amazing but he hits a ton of flyballs that would be outs if he wasnts a giant.
For all the people saying nothing is different there’s is much more to his swing in the second. The first he swings more with chest and arms, but in the second the barrel goes rearward as his back leg goes forward, im 14 and doing the things in these videos sky rocketed my batting average and power
The first dude shifts his body weight from the back foot to the front foot as soon as he makes contact with the ball. Second guy doesn't shift his enture body weight into the swing. It looks like he's got the right idea... just poor execution with his footwork.
I could be wrong since i just started watching your videos but i am pretty sure the difference is one video he steps and then swings and the other he steps while torqueing
