Robin Williams God rest his soul was a genius and an amazing actor. He did A LOT of improvising in order to get REAL reaction from his fellow cast. All of the DJ speeches in Good Morning Vietnam was improv. The scene in Mrs. Doubtfire when his teeth fall into the glass was improv. The reactions were all real and unscripted but kept in the movie.

The scene where Affleck's character tells Will that the best day for him, would be one where he would wake up to the reality of hos friend having left... Gets me every single time. The slight bitterness about not having such a gift, but the immense brotherly love for Will. That is acceptance. Peace of mind, in a nuttshell.

For Saving Private Ryan, Steven Spielberg had purposely cast Matt Damon as Ryan because he was virtually unknown and had All-American handsomeness. However, this movie came out a couple of months before and made Damon a star.

Long, long story, but Good Will Hunting changed my life, and not just in a "I saw it and was inspired" kind of way. And Robin Williams was why I became an actor. I met him in 2011. He was adorable. When he passed, I spent 3 days in bed crying.

"Do you like apples?" "Yeah." "Well, I got her number. How do you like them apples?" Fun Fact: Gus Van Sant painted the picture that hangs in Sean Maguire's (Robin Williams') office. Five Year Dream Fact: The very first day of the shooting, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck started crying out of happiness, because it was a scene between Robin Williams and Stellan Skarsgård, accomplished actors, doing Damon's and Affleck's scene verbatim, and they had waited so long (five years) for this to happen. What Script Fact: The lines in the scene when Sean talks about his late wife's farting antics were ad-libbed by Robin Williams. That is why Matt Damon was laughing so hard. If you watch the scene carefully, you can notice the camera shaking a bit, possibly due to the cameraman laughing as well. Robin Williams' last line in the film "Son of a bitch. He stole my line" was also ad-libbed. MIT Connection Fact: Matt Damon, a former Harvard student, originally intended to make the title character a physics prodigy. He discussed his idea with Sheldon L. Glashow, a Nobel laureate in physics and, at the time, a Harvard professor. Glashow told him that the premise did not ring true to him: he suggested that the main character be a math prodigy instead. He referred Damon to his brother-in-law, Daniel Kleitman, a professor of mathematics at MIT, who provided advice on the story. Both Glashow and Kleitman are thanked in the credits.

If you watch when Will is hugging Sean and crying, you'll see that Sean's eyes are smiling and joyful. He knows what a breakthrough that was. Notice throughout their last couple of encounters that he calls him, "Son". He doesn't mind being a surrogate and a mentor, and he'll be happy to stay in contact with Will. It was a breakthrough and Will is a genius but he certainly doesn't have all the answers. It will be invaluable to have someone he knows he can trust to help guide him. @nsasupporter7557 8 месяцев назад
@@jmiyagi12345 sorry, but I strongly disagree with that for the most part. From what I understand, it’s the other way around… dramatic actors can do comedy even better than alot of comedians and comedians can rarely ever be good dramatic actors. The only 2 comedians that can pull off dramatic acting is Robin Williams and Jim Carrey… Jeff Daniels is mostly known for drama, but he blew everybody away in Dumb and Dumber with Jim. He was funnier than most comedians in that movie

@@nsasupporter7557 Will Ferrell, not to be confused with a good actor, does very solid work in his dramatic roles. Probably his better work. Carrey, as you mentioned, was much better than he was given credit for. I am honestly struggling with coming up with dramatic actors who can do straight comedy. Maybe Jack Nicholson, but it’s usually just him being crazy, which might just be his default setting.

You're correct, great insight. Beauty and pain do go together. Everyone on this Earth goes through pain and suffering but the real beauty of people and life is how we come together and hold each other up, and deal with pain and suffering. I've seen this movie many times, and I still cry. Seeing Ben Affleck feel some happiness for his friend when he realizes he isn't there, even though he lost his friend and his heart is also probably dropping, is so beautiful. That was a great piece of acting, first he realizes it and it takes a few seconds to process it and you can see that little grin. I cried on that scene too just like you lol.

First time watching, and realized those were third year problems on the chalkboard. Took me a bit out of the movie. Recently, asked a history professor from the local uni if he thought the history lesson Will gave was too easy. He said no. So, not all watered down.

I was thinking bout this movie and I just realized that last scene with Robin Williams and Will was a metaphor for how Will was pushing those he loved away so he wouldn't get hurt. Will physically pushes Williams character away but he stands firm. He shows he won't abandon him even after he has built trust with Will. Then the breakthrough. I think masculine energy is more prone to be adept at showing the firm and strong, supportive but not smothering love. That brotherly/father type of thing. I guess Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are smarter than I thought as screenwriters. LOL I cried at the movie but I have overactive tear ducts and will cry at a Folger's commercial or yawning. It's so attractive to the ladies....😅
