NBC News Now’s Savannah Sellers and Joe Fryer look back at the milestones defining 2021, and the lessons ahead for 2022 and beyond.
Beginning with the groundbreaking COVID vaccines that reunited so many, this hour-long special called Goodbye 2021: A Year to Remember… and Forget! spotlights how the vaccines divided a nation already reeling from the deadly January 6th Capitol insurrection. In addition, NBC News White House and Capitol Hill correspondents review the many new tests for President Biden as he struggled to contain the pandemic amid unprecedented challenges with the economy and climate change.
The special also features Al Roker, highlighting the striking environmental extremes we witnessed this year -- from fires and floods to drought and heat -- as communities in the Midwest and South are still coping with this month’s recent deadly and rare tornado disaster.

2020 was a very bad year. No one wants to relive it. 2021, we were all hopeful for a better year. Alas, it started off terrible. Many bad things happened in 2021, so many people died, and so many natural disasters. 2021 was just the aftermath of 2020, but slowly we started to recover. 2022 (hopefully) will be a year of recovery and redemption. It’s time for everyone to put their differences aside and work together to help save our world. So many people are standing up for themselves, and now it’s time to stand up for our world. We only have 1 world. 2023 will hopefully be the year we come back as a strong, successful, United community, and we can finally say we survived the disasters that 2020 started. This is just my opinion, and my reflection. It is totally fine if no one agrees with it.

Although these New Year's traditions can be entertaining, Time, (as far as we currently understand it,) is a continuous thing. Like it or not we're going to have to spend a considerable part of (2022) dealing with the results (& fallout) of: (2020-2021.) As much as we try, Time can't be so easily separated into neat little manageable packages. 🔭🌍

I remember first hearing about all of these terrible events, the texas winter storm, hurricane ida, the tornadoes in kentucky, the surfside condo collapse, and other tragedies like in waukesha, oxford, the capitol raid and the astroworld concert. I also remember hearing the Haiti earthquake, the western north america heat wave, the cyclones in the indian ocean, and typhoon rai. Covid was also worsened. 2021 was certainly marked by many tragedies, hopefully 2022 does not continue like this

Those also say "axed" instead of "asked" - and they include not only low educated Blacks, but Whites, too... Even teachers! 70% of Americans are vaccinated and still the number of covid infected people are the same when only 20% of the Americans were vaccinated. It seems to me more vaccinated people won't produce less covid deaths.

70% is not enough. You need more than 90%. Look at Australia for example, we don't have the same ratio of covid deaths like in the U.S. because we have much higher vaccination rate.
