No. My manager wasn't even in the office. After I finished my day I just left my laptop on his desk and went home. I'll leave to you to figure out what that means :)

@@SmokCode is it normal for jobs to walk you out after a notice? I'm still in college and just wondering.

Some jobs do that. Especially when you were disciplinary fired. However it's rare, and mostly depends on manager you have.

Whether or not you get walked out when you serve your notice or actually get to work through the end of your notice depends on what you do. From what I've seen the higher the possibility that a given person can cause harm to the company either through sabotage of infrastructure or hurting customer relationships the more likely you are to server out your notice by turning in all company property you may have and doing a knowledge dump if necessary to the remainder of your team or your replacement.

It is sad to leave. Especially after being promoted and making great friends, but new adventure is so exciting!!

A lot of people do that actually. Amazon is great for your reputation and learning but it's hard to grow. You really need to switch companies to get promoted.

If he's going for "training" in the US and its another big tech company, then its probably Facebook. They do their bootcamp process before you actually start. Otherwise it could only really be Google or Microsoft. I don't think Microsoft would force you to fly to Redmond for NEO though. So Facebook or Google.

@@depression_isnt_real I interviewed there recently as well as Google/Microsoft. I don't think I would ever in my life join Amazon or even interview there again. I could just smell the horrible culture from the interview itself. Their hire and fire, high stress culture is just not for me. The fact that managers have a quota for firing people is ridiculous.

This is not a fact. I have never heard such rumor or even known about anyone being fired from software department while I was working there.

@@SmokCode That is not a rumor. Maybe its different in Amazon UK, but in America managers do have a firing quota, I forget the official name of it. Attrition rate? Amazon US is notorious for PIP. Hire and fire mentality. It's probably different in the UK.

@@SmokCode I just re-read what you said, yea its definitely different in the UK then. Amazon US puts people on Performance Improvement Plan (PiP) like no other. It's a well known fact here. You don't work in a global tech hub like Seattle/San Francisco though so it makes sense that it would be different over there.
