meh i remember that life, we still had tv, movies, cameras, cordless phones, caller id, gameboys, CD players, Walkmans, beepers, car phones, pay phones and a whole lot more. Technology isn't the problem, just how some use and consume it.
Man I was 19 and in prison when this was made in 1999, I took that well worn path of starting with weed and acid at 14, ecstasy by 16 then full blown herion addict by 18, in jail by July 99...bad times all long behind me now, been clean since 2004 got a lovely wife, house, job... I dont even drink or smoke these days. I live a nice peaceful happy life now it's almost like it never happened but it did..I loved the 90s but they didn't end too well for me lol! 🙂🙃❤🙏
@@davidchase8116 Thanks mate, listen just keep at it life will slowly get better in every way, it will be like it never happened. We only get one crack at life so don't waste this opportunity to get yourself straight. You have my full support and respect brother!!! 🙂🙃🙏👌🤙🤟👍
SKILLS M8 i know exactly where your at.except the prison bit and i do get that this wld have added to your journey with many more extras and only certain people understanding genuinely cuz there things you can story about but with certain things you cant talk it to somebody but as much as they say they can just imagine it and you yourself say inside side the cant by along shot and theres just few things in where people say they can just imagine something but have never personally experience that something nobody in the world with a few things in life that you have to proper experience it or you will never ever really get it .. and i think/find going to prison is one of those experiences .... again good on you & peace out Jez . just cant
44:50 - "Got the whistle? Gucch, got the trotters? Gucch, got the kettle? Rolli, I'm head to toe in Gucch with a 9 1 1 in the garage and it's only a fuckin work car!! Lmfao, best line of the film.
@@niallcassidy7212 Kettle And Hob = Fob Back in the day the watch they used was called a fob watch, so Kettle and Hob = fob watch. Now they just use the word kettle for watch... :)
Top film reminds me off the days with no phones no bills no children and just worrying about where your going to get your money from for the weekend that was the only worries back then 👌
Sad but true. I grew up in Brixton in the 60s/70s, the accent of my grandparents and parents has dissapeared amongst youngsters-they all sound like blacks.
Miss these times, carefree and when you was with your mates you felt invincible. Everything was a laugh and more scrapes than I can remember.....Lacoste polos still wear them today
Even though this was a south London film the Ralph Lacoste polos football shorts and classics/workouts remind me of growing up in islington… love this film
Nick love is working on a “80s Spain film series” search it up. He’s using 80s casual classic for the clobber so it’ll probably be a sequel to the business
@@christaincain4520 Paul Nichols (Charlie) was in it in 1996 for a year, he played Joe Wicks. Phil Daniels (Eddie) played Kevin Wicks from 2006-2008. Tameeka Empson (Kay, the black girl), has played Kim Fox since 2009. Nicola Stapleton (Julie), played Mandy Salter from 1992-1994, then from 2011-12. Richard Driscoll (Hector) played Alex Healy from 1997-1999.
Proper old skool cockney film loved this growing up im from hackney and this was what it used to be like back in the day not like today's bollocks and music was music
Felt all nostalgic watching that. Takes me back to the late 90's when I was a teenager all the guys where like this 😂 good film. God Paul nicholls was a beauty.
Ralph Lauren la coste tommy hilfiger shirts tucked out.. Y. S. L.. Reebok classics.. On hindsight good times.. Milennium not far off.. Big dissapointment
The going away party scene - reminds me of every empty house I went to in 2000. Bit of garage, bit of Craig David. Trying to get a bird. The clothes. Ahhhh outstanding stuff.
we all wish we could go back then i was 27 yrs old. noticed 3 characters from football factory. danny dyer. the one who played zebdee and other who played billy bright.
Total fkn TRIP, I was like 30 fkn years old back then ,the 90s and noughties are one big fkn blur of heroin, I remember the misery well 🤣 I can't complain as most I know died, stay cool everyone and remember all you gotta do is KEEP BREATHING 🙏🇬🇧
Everyone feels the same about their youth no matter what decade it wwas it was great the music, the clothes and always hanging out with your family mates getting totally arsole wrecked on anything and everything 😂
Thank you so much it’s been a great pleasure watching this wonderful film, and thank you for your time and patience downloading this film keep well and safe 😊
My old estate live on their from 1969 for 20 years had some good times growing up their no stabbings really in the 80s lots of trouble fights but that was it really the estate had 10 pubs in walking distance most of them gone now my favourite was the Cambridge arms
22 years old this film ,were the years go great time to be young thanks for the upload 👍👏Edit some great films made around this time . Humantraffic, trainspotting, lock stock, and so many more
Jamie foreman always plays a good cockney character why they got him to play a stupid cowboy fence I don’t know , his character half ruined the film for me . I miss it when Londoners use to talk like this instead of talking like Ali G and using American and Jamaican sayings , makes me cringe when I see a Pakistani talking with a Jamaican accent. ( in it )
" a carpet their playing for a fucking carpet charl " For those that don't know a carpet is £300.00 and if you don't know then you shouldn't be watching..
Liked this film when it came out, watching it back now you realise, other than the nostalgia factor, it was pretty crap. Full of cliches and wooden acting. The Justin character was a loathsome runt. Paul Nichols was a really good looking bastard in his prime, weird how he never made much of his once promising career.
I remember lots of us would hang out and talk in corners of streets. Just talk, have fun, doing our own thing, from music, having a band, some learned to breakdance, others entered competition, and some created own samples, and all kinds of stuff kicked off when...there wasn't mobile phones. Now, I walk and I see young girls and guys, and while walking...texting or scrolling. Mobile phones, social media messed them up. Hell, you got kids not even 10 year old with mobile phones and some due to whatever they are doing with it, get depressed, many have to see a therapist. Parents who are irresponsible or give into their kids with giving them mobile phones, access to internet messed them up. No mobile phones, internet, social media...life was awesome without them. Best years of my life. The best!
Phones are video games definitely killed off a good chunk of talent I’m 42 and still and active turntablist and my phone has to be in a different room when I’m practicing unless I’m filming with it
This is like a EastEnders Film with Mick Carter, Derek Branning, Kim Fox, Mo Butcher, Mandy Salter, Joe Wicks, Reverend Alex Healy, and Kevin Wicks. And now Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian), who is going to be in Eastenders on 27th June 2024.
Nick Love wouldn't have known it at the time but this will go down as a cult classic. It's nailed an inner city London culture/slang that disappeared in less than 10 after this was released. Can't watch it without smiling but feeling sad.
that estate looks decent enough well say compare to a certain myattsfield in brixton now that was a shithole i lived in late 70s early 80s glad i came back home to Northern Ireland heard it got 10 times worse in the 90s and on would like to think it has been wiped off the face of the earth nice big church on the corner next to evesham walk and big victorian boys school across the road kennington boys closed the 2nd year i was there no good memories when you are one of 3 whites in the whole class lol
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea !" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
