If you have to imagine a scenario to hate character, you're explicitly projecting. Augie didn't want to be the person holding the gun. it is incredibly normal and reasonable. You can be cold and inhuman and be like "oh I would've done it" but it's a trolley problem. A trolley problem where she isn't on the lever, but forced to drive the train.

Yep, euthanasia in Switzerland requires multiple staggered consent confirmations. Before you ever arrive, you have to confirm at least twice (one to set up the whole thing, one to confirm actual travel there). When you arrive the day before, you confirm for the next day. On the day of, they retrieve the medication and meet you at a house where it will be administered and you can spend your final hours with family and friends. You confirm again upon arrival and then go about your last tasks. Lastly, before the medication is actually offered, the administering person has to verbally tell you that drinking the cocktail will be fully lethal, and you have to acknowledge that you're okay with that. At that point, the consent is fully confirmed, and you're offered the solution and told to fully drink it, even though it tastes bad, and will be offered chocolates afterward to mask the taste. There are videos of the process on RU-vid for anyone curious about it. While it sounds scary (and kind of is), it's done very humanely and focuses on allowing someone the chance to abort their choice many times up to the moment of ingestion.

Well, unlike the people clamoring for Breaking Bad (which I have been oversaturated with), I'll enjoy that 3BP reaction, especially as they seem to enjoy it and these last episodes have some real high highs. Really wishing you'd check Interview with the Vampire (whose second season is coming and might get you some views) and Black Sails (but that's a much more personal choice and sadly I know it's not the most popular show to react to).

I don't understand the hate to auggie to say that the guy, who is clearly a jerk, is a jerk. Like "how dare you say that the guy who doesn't care about anyone is inhuman." She may be sassy and a little dramatic at times, but she does care about the people around her. And yes, she said no to save humanity now, but she are right, 400 years will pass until it is a real problem and only an offspring of an offspring will have to deal with it. Now they are assumptions and going quickly will only make things more complicated. And they will say "yes but we have to work together for the humanity blablabla" if you work with a cretin don't expect she to feel like showing a smile at the situation. She's honest about it. By the way, the people she spoke to the worst were his boss (stupidly rich) and the captain, clearly a jerk to everyone. I don't see an error there, she did it VERY well because they deserved it xd

I think in Deny's perspective, Auggie is being more of an asshole than he is. He is trying to do business and create job applications. After she stopped seeing numbers she has been tearing more of her future down still. Sure she's a scientist who wants to benefit her idea to mankind but it's not charity. That project she orchestrated isn't cheap. If you are a scientist and if you have been researching a project that can dissemble or break shit, it is likely the government wants to use it as a weapon. Hell, we create weapons to kill each other but also to prepare for potential threats in space. It's her project but not her money that funded the project. 39:12

The show is, I think, indeed a bit dense scenario. For the emotional folks , it is still delivering sentiment, building feelings, while the next scene of humor or deliberation just rush in , little of transition. For me, I have to hit pause with Will's narrative.😭

I like Auggie is my favorite character. She is the only one who seems to have a moral compass. She is the one saying: "Can't we slow down at think about what we are doing?" She is the only one who seems to have been affected by the killing of the kids on the Judgement Day. Yes, that probably was justified. But while others are moving on, Auggie is still troubled by her invention being used in such a way. She is the Oppenheimer in this story.

So nice to see some positive comments towards Auggie!! There’s so much hate and negativity towards her for being annoying”, but what normal person wouldn’t be emotionally damaged by their life’s work being used to brutally slaughter a whole community of people!! Of course, this is a tv show, and yes we all wanna see our characters team up and murder the evil aliens, but unless you are heartless, psychotic, or already seen a large amount of horrors take place before your eyes, you would be fucked up from it too lol.. I do understand why she can come off annoying, even I caught my brain thinking that way, but giving characters complex and realistic personalities is detrimental for a show’s realism. Especially for a show that’s going for a darker, more grim vibe like this.

Sorry, she's just all self absorbed and everything is about how she feels. Consider her start up. That was not a non profit organization like in academia to "better humanity". No that was a private start up that got going with hedge fund money who expected results. She's been enjoying all the perks of her station in life, fat salary, doing breakthrough practical application. Then when her world turned upside down, it's understandable how she wanted to quit. But afterwards, when they let her go what does she do? Oh yeah share all of her research as a final FU to her boss. Not because it's some altruistic goal but just cause he pissed her off after funding her for so many years. Basically frauding him and the company. Then running away with money she obv earned at the company and deciding to live her life to the fullest on what she considers to be a priority. Clearly, Will was not either, nor did she give two shits about him. But using nanotech to filter out water so she can feel good about herself now and let the rest of humanity get flushed down the toilet in 400 years is such a big brain move. At least will with the cancer had a reason to be totally cynical about life, and yet even till the very last moment he held on to the most optimistic outlook before deciding himself to be launched as a brain. I get she's traumatized that her nano tech was used in such an evil way, but she's clearly not understanding the stakes. There's billions of people, not everyone is a shithead and yet she's perfectly fine in not helping out and enjoying her traveling and probably drink herself to death. I got zero sympathy with the way they wrote her.
@zualapips1638

@unbeheld Ultimately, she released her invention to the world so that she wouldn't have to be the one working on it. I still don't understand why everyone wants a very traumatized person to keep working on a potential weapon that will be used to kill more people. Yes, the aliens are coming in 400 years, and she's living her life like that's someone else's problem, but from my view, she's already made a huge contribution for humanity with her tech, and even more so by making it open source. She's done. She's disgusted by what people did and are going to do with her tech, but she still gave it to the world so that humanity still has a chance against the San-Ti.

About the gravity of three suns lining up. Its yes and no. My understanding is that yes, the gravity is techincally increased with them lined up, but that it has little impact because gravity is weak, the planet would have to be really really close for the people to fly off, so theyd all be burnt by the heat or the planet would fall into the sun by then anyway.
