Ever had a couple store used diapers in the tiles on the ceiling. I say this cause I worked at Target and that happened. Another time a giant rat fell out of the ceiling. Another time I was hit by a car in the parking lot and the driver just drove off. One time a guy pulled a knife on me over some pickles and finally I saw two people get into a fistfight over a bunch of sandwiches. What's your weirdest retail story.

Doug Owens We honestly are required to do that. We get written up if we don't... Gamestop isn't like most retail places, it's small with a specific customer base. Our District/Regional managers make us interact with customers on a more intimate level. It doesn't always work though. If they say "Just Looking" I always reply with "Alrighty, I'll be around if you have any questions." And smile.

Honestly, I used to be the same way, but I always know what I'm looking for, and most of the time I don't mind a used copy, so I just started telling them what I was actually looking for. Sure they try to hit you with the up-sell routine, but I just say "No thanks". In the end its faster than digging through the used games myself, and most of the time the employees will talk with me about whatever game I'm buying through the whole process.

Whew, I'm glad that's what employees want. I've been saying "just looking" for years.

I've recently started working at GameStop. Which is absolutely awful, they shafted my hours to working one day a week because they can't afford anyone but the key holders and managers working. During the Fortnite Minty Pickaxe code frenzy, I've seen so many freakishly ecstatic children trying every little thing they can to get the "free" pickaxe code. I'll never forget the day a child came in screaming, "FORTNITE, I LOVE FORTNITE SO MUCH! FORTNITE, FORTNITE FORTNITE", he would jump and skip about and absolutely lost his mind the moment he found a Fortnite deluxe box. I could swear he was foaming at the mouth and could not contain his excitement for this ONE game. At the time I acted amused, but I genuinely was scared of that blind fanatical love for a meager game. Sure, I have games I really like, but I've never been THAT excited over it. And the sad thing is I've seen the adult equivalent of that kid in the store, just people so excited over a game that it was just worrying. GameStop has a lot of shitty business practices, and they love to exploit customers. If they offer any protections or guarantees, even PRO, say NO repeatedly and threaten to withhold the purchase should the employee try to manipulate the answer. GPGs, PRPs and PRO all go directly into GameStop's pocket, which is why OUR jobs as GameStop workers are on the line constantly as the demand for more only increases. (If I sold 5 PRO memberships one day, they expect 5 and more the next day) Bonus Story, how I got an autistic man to spend more money than needed by following my job rules. I offered the GPG and PRP, and he agreed because I have to make it enticing. If I want to keep my job, I must explain how amazing the PRP and GPG are, he already had PRO, and I must sell it to increase how good the store looks. A 350 purchase was now 380, we basically coerced and stole 30 extra dollars with our business tactics, and if I didn't have my manager lurking over me (she was pissed I took the first "no" from customers, I MUST not accept "no" unless it's said a second time) so I unfortunately scammed this poor guy out of money. This is why I absolutely hate GameStop, because I am not allowed autonomy. I will be fired if I don't offer those deals or persist as instructed. The state I work in allows termination for any reason, so it's even harsher working in these conditions.

I work as a host at a restaurant, and we started not to do phone orders, we are told to tell them that they can't order through the phone anymore, but if they refuse, we have to take their order. Your boss was saying that you just give them the cup and don't ask them for the color. But if THEY ask for a different cup, you have to give it to them.

Side note to this story. We did this for about two months. The moms kept dropping them off. We started to really like these kids so the games got better and better. One Saturday I had an idea. I moved all the shelves in the center of the store out of the way, gave the kids two small nerf balls we had and put my employee who originally came up with the bad video game idea in the center of the store. The kids divided on either side of the store and started playing dodgeball with my employee. It was the best day we ever had at that store. Every once in a while my employee would catch the ball and bean some kid in the face. He’d laugh hysterically, Hood kids are just fun like that I guess.

Hahaha if I had not been to the Tucker Game Stop I would call BS but I had the pleasure of stopping in there one day when I had time to kill one Saturday. Needless to say, I did not stay long.

John Glue This was the GameStop outside the mall in that shitty shopping center with Kohl’s and Marshall’s. Not sure if they kept it open since they had a mall store that was walking distance from it. It was hell but a special kind of hell thats enjoyable if you’re open to dealing with some crappy people. Once had a guy who wanted to trade for a PS2. He told me “I’ll get you anything you want out of JC Penny’s.” What the guy meant is he’d go shoplift anything from there for trade. I was almost tempted to take him up on his offer just to see if he could manage to swipe a 40’ flat screen or a set of tires. But I learned long ago, never dare a crazy person.

It's like these parents don't understand or even care that 1) they're putting their CHILD at risk of kidnapping or otherwise, and 2) it's a store, not a daycare. You'd think at some point a manager would put out a sign saying WE ARE NOT A BABYSITTING SERVICE. IF YOU DROP YOUR KIDS OFF HERE, WE WILL CALL CHILD SERVICES.

Agreed, I've never had a bad experience at Gamestop! I always found it strange that so many people report poor customer service, though it's probably from people that are too self-important to be told their sold out of whatever game/item.

I can't recall a bad experience since they became Game Stop other then the store location before they moved from my local mall being really small, and if more then 4 or 5 customers where in the place it felt way too crowed, however back in the early 90's when it was still Babbage's they had a shit head for a manager no one liked, and was always rude, and unfriendly to kids, and if we wanted something off an upper shelf we could not reach he would just ignore us, and one time I was in the store with my father, and he nearly pulled the guy across the counter by his shirt for being such a rude jack ass, and needless to say after mall security got evolved to break up the fight as they where walking by right when it started, and some phone calls to Babbage's corporate headquarters from my mother who was a bit more tactful the guy did not last much longer, as it was not the first complaint he had gotten. So I always try to be nice as I can to people in retail as I've worked it myself, but if they are constantly rude pieces of shit in a place I go to often, then I say fuck'm because respect goes both ways.

I worked in a sandwich shop and I don’t get why people can’t just act friendly. It’s like they don’t even view you as a person and in turn it dehumanizes you.

I'm betting that the guy's daughter told him the game, he googled it and found that image and brought it to the store.

I also had a women who had a yelling match with me (Meaning she was yelling and i was apologizing because i couldn't do anything) because I wasn't letting her use her credit card as a valid state I.D. (which, at least in the state i worked in, was the law-pawn law) I also wouldn't let her just tell me her I.D number that she had "memorized". knowing her and her husband very well from being regulars, I highly doubt that was possible for her to even do that. anyway, She came back the next day with an expired I.D..... My manager at first told me I did wrong, but later admitted I obviously didn't, and My DM said from the beginning he supported my actions and I did nothing wrong. I had an issue with the husband too. During a trade transaction, after inputting the I.D. information the pin pad prompts a signature requested. The signature basically implying you own these items and agree with the price to be given. SO when we got to that part, I told him he had to sign. Now this guy was a sexist asshole, and a moron on top of that. He looks at me like I am an idiot and says "I haven't swiped my card yet." I nodded my head and agreed and explained the signature was for the trade it. He leaned closer, getting angrier. "but I DIDN'T swipe my card yet." I again told him i was aware of that and again explained. This went on two more times before I slowed down and explained it to him step by step. I also had a customer a crossed the store whistle and snap at me for me to come help them. And, of course, being a female working in that environment was horrible. I had plenty of stalkers/creepers. People who thought I only worked there because I was a girl. And others who thought I had no clue what I was talking about, regardless of my 4-6 year experience of being there. I'd hide behind the cash wrap just so customers would stay out of my personal space. Or would even have to go into the back, depending on the customer. That being said, if you're one of those guys who mentions either at a gaming store, event, or online itself that your surprised to see a girl there. Don't be. Your dicks don't give you this special ability to video game knowledge and skill that a female couldn't achieve. So stop acting like an asshole and just play with them. If anything they will be good on your team because we have to take each game we play seriously, just so men can take us as such. (And trust me, they don't want to hear it) and for those of you who sexually taunt girls, WTF is wrong with you?? You could be doing that to a 13 year old! you creep.... K, thanks byeee.

Personally, I wouldn't say your exactly wrong. I've had a couple coworkers who were very part time that weren't gamers. However, all of the main workers played videogames. When I started part time (4 hours a week) I only knew about Nintendo and a little bit of cod from my friends. However, once I started working there more, i began to play games regularly. Most people who work at gamestop are indeed gamers. Trust me, I met a lot of employees my six years working there. So not being considered a real gamer just because we are making money talking about something we like seems small minded. However, like stated before, there have been non gamers working there too. It's just a smaller amount. :)

I mean, it isn't that guys think their dicks give them special abilities. It's just that there are many more male gamers / Gamestop workers than females. Yeah women can be gamers, and it's not male-exclusive, but it is by far more male-populated than female, so people will just be surprised and speak their minds because they're used to seeing middle aged guys or 19 year old hipster dudes at gamestop. If anything they're probably meaning it in a positive way since it's nice to see a change of pace, and you're misinterpreting it out of insecurity and being overly defensive. Don't just generalize all male gamers as being that way anyway, I've known a lot of male and female gamers that were assholes, both to their own gender and the opposite for different sexist reasons. It'd be the same if a guy saw a girl out at some comic-book store buying spiderman comics, it's not unheard of but it's much less common than some fat 30 year old with a beard, so they'd be genuinely surprised and that's perfectly okay/understandable. You being an ass about it would just make you seem insecure and defensive. "If anything they will be good on your team because we have to take each game we play seriously, just so men can take us as such." So women are the only ones that take it seriously and try? Men do too, but not all of them are good at gaming just because they take it seriously. To be fair, statistically most gaming males have just spent more time on gaming rather than other aspects of life and just have more hands on experience (which isn't really something to be proud of, I'm not bragging about males I'm just being logical) which is why people say men are "better" at games, although it's not always true all stereotypes come from a tiny speck of truth at least, otherwise they wouldn't exist. Gamers just know most males to spend more time invested in it and "no life-ing" games, so they assume they're "better" at the games and honestly because of that in most cases it is true. It's not to say that a girl couldn't be better, skill in gaming just comes from time spent and experience comparison, and most guys are just more likely to spend more time on that genre racking up experience than most women (It's statistical, not all men/women, that's just how it goes usually). Your logic was that girls will be good in gaming because they have to take each game seriously. So what? Guys do too, and even if they don't take it seriously, you can not take a game seriously and still excel at it. It's the same vice versa, you can take it very seriously and just not be good or improve. Especially if you have less prior experience with that type of game. What about the women that play games and act rude to every guy on the team for having a dick, or the ones that constantly talk about how they're women when the rest of the team are just trying to play? "Hey guys, (insert way to mention they're female just to feel like a special snowflake)" The rest of the team "Yeah that's nice, okay now Junkrat use your ult-" And actually, there are so many guy gamers that kiss any girl gamer's ass on games, I've seen a whole group of male gamers practically treat a mediocre female gamer (Not saying female gamers are mediocre, just that one was) like some goddess just for having a vagina. Some people will be dicks in both genders under different circumstances, some will be overly kind. Stop acting like gaming is a one-sided war against women. If you're good at a game, nobody will say anything and will just play with you like any other teammate unless they're sexist, and men deal with sexist women also, that's just how people are. If you're not good (Hypothetical), some assholes might use your gender as an insult to put you down (People do it with race too when they're mad, as well as other things, so what? Deal with toxicity, it's in all gaming), and if you constantly make it a point to remind your team that you're a woman, yeah they'll probably get annoyed. Or laugh at it when it's not funny anyway to be overly friendly, and worship you for being one. Bottom line is, it's life. Guys deal with toxicity all the time for countless things, if you want to be treated the same way, suck it up like the rest of us instead of spreading feminist false-sexism ideas out of your own hurt feelings at toxic players that both genders have to deal with. Only difference is, guys' asses never get kissed in gaming in the same way and they aren't coddled. (I know you're not asking for that treatment, just saying that's what a lot of guys do in their own decision). Guys also "sexually harass" each other at times in gaming either joking around or trolling, or just being cringeworthy. You're likely being too sensitive about it (Not because you're female, you just seem rather sensitive in your post). And I felt obligated to add all of these comments in parentheses because I figured if you became defensive and decided to lash out at my comment, that would cover most of the obvious "Nuh uh, you said this but this is really how it is" responses.

My post is based off of expirience. And at game stop I was referring to the customers who thought I didn't know anything I was talking about, or wasn't actually a gamer and just working there because I was a female. The Rare Replay has kind of "ruined" that joke, in a sense, as they just recommend that due to it literally having several Battletoads games on it, and they'll be able to do that as long as the Xbox One is relevant... So for many years.

Here's the thing though: if he wanted to do that, what you do is tell your kid "We're not turning those in, they are not worth that little" and then leave. NASIRUB1 Can't trade them nor lend them to friends. Plus they cost the same as a physical disc for some stupid reason. However, most games "weigh" the same on your HDD nowadays whether they are physicsl or digital so there isn't much difference.

I don't know because when I was on console, I would buy my games at various local Game Stops, occasionally the games would be unplayable because of scratches or their prices were to high. Later I started buying games at a cheaper price on eBay, but now on PC I just purchase my games from Steam or Indie Humble for crazy dirt cheap (currently own 140 games on PC alone) and I get to play them instantly, which saves me the trip to the Game store or waiting for an eBay seller to ship out my game. As far as letting a friend or a family member play my Steam games, their is an option that Steam has which allows you to make a sub account on the same computer so that multiple people can log in and play the games I purchased. The other feature is similar, however your friend/family can login to their Steam account from their own computer and you would have to grant them permission so they can access your games (note they can only play the game if you are not playing it ). Hard drive space is not an issues for me, I have a 1TB HDD, also with Steam, I'm able to download and play the games I want from my game library, the rest along with my game data is backed up in the Steam cloud so my Hard drive is never full.

I never thought about purchasing a game from Amazon, I always go to eBay or now just go on Steam and Indie Humble and get them new for under $10 or $5.00 (sometimes they give them to me for free) and you can play them right away.

Best to buy physical copies. What if you bought a game and it didn't work out for you or if its too bareboned (like *cough* Pokemon Sun and Moon) or if your game console stops working? You're pretty much screwed.
