FatFreq has the Scarlet mini also coming out with even crazier bass shelf at 30db, a world first. I enjoy their Maestro Mini (20db Bass Shelf) and it's actually a very good iem and very highly regarded by guys like Crinnacle. It gets even better, especially when you swap out the stock cable for a nice copper or silver cable + Acoustune AET08 tips for that insane 20db bass shelf bass. Mids are there and treble is so nice and smooth yet still present. best Iem for bass so far in my collection with decent soundstage. May get the scarlet Mini if it's as welldone.
@@rnarexperience you are officially a legend in the IEM space for getting these in custom, to get such an expensive pair in custom is such a gigantic risk and gamble, I have never been more impressed and more blown away by anything I’ve seen on RU-vid, ever. This is INSANE. Also, the design you got on the face plate which you said is random. Somehow you got the best design humanly possible especially on the left one with the MSE logo.
@@ZxAMobileI think you're too kind but I'm just glad to hear you're enjoying the videos 😄 As for the custom faceplate, yeah it may be a random pattern but the base pattern that is being used is already really beautiful so I don't think it can do any wrong especially in contrast with the logo's gold in the background
I preordered the Scarlett Mini last week. Still waiting on fulfillment; I was originally going to pick up a custom Grand Maestro, but decided instead to go with both the Scarlett and the 64 Audio Volur. The only downside is not getting those custom faceplates. The embossed floral designs are exceptionally well done. The beautiful thing about FatFreq is that the bass shelf doesn’t adversely affect the rest of the frequency range. You still get stellar upper mids and treble. The Volur has surprised me; I’ve been eyeing the Grand Maestro for so long as my endgame and right on the cusp of pulling the trigger, 64 dropped a bombshell. An upgrade to the Neo, but even better? It is such an amazing time to be a fan of IEMs. So many years in this hobby and right now I’ve got dozens of IEMs from $15 to $2000+ that are genuinely all fantastic for what they offer the listener. Cannot wait to get the Scarlett and Volur in my hands. If I was ever ready to be a “own 1 or 2 IEM” kind of hobbyist, these two would probably be it.
@@ZxAMobilesome clarity here: if you order a custom from FatFreq directly, you can select your own faceplate as well. The resin patterns are obviously random by nature, but they have a fairly robust and arguably the best faceplate selection I’ve seen. The Monarch MKIII pales in comparison. This brand is just knocking it out of the park.
Funny your experience with the change in treble. Generally custom IEMs have a deeper insertion that make treble smoother, not emphatizing it in any way. But it may not be a universal thing, probably.
didnt know a custom no longer makes use of eartips. that and the notion they go deeper inside ear canal, demands a very good ear cleaning routine or the shell will be clogged before the time it takes me to finish writing this. So customizing came at no extra cost, other than mailing? I wonder how much an audiologist charge for a service like this. And do you get to keep your moldings for future customizations? Yeah as these were my first customs I was a little confused at first whether eartips were required but essentially the IEM is supposed to be the one creating the seal as it fills up your ear so putting in an eartip (if you can even find one that fits because the nozzle is really wide and not the conventional shape from typical IEMs) it's almost impossible to fit because you're adding additional width and depth to something that's supposedly able to fit your ears perfectly. Also, yeah you do need to have a very good ear cleaning routine to ensure your ears and the CIEM stay clean as you're pushing more wax in and at the same time some of those wax can go into your CIEM and if not cleaned properly, will affect the sound of your CIEM in the long run. Also, if you purchased the universal version then there are additional cost to convert them to MSE, here are the pricing information from Fatfreq for 2023 "Our reshell upgrades start from $275, for MSE its about $450 and GM around $750, which excludes the add-on prices for cosmetic designs, ear impressions, and replacement of faulty components if the warranty period is over" Also, if you're doing ear impressions in store, it'll be $75. However if you're overseas and need to go through an audiologist, it may go up to a few hundreds, at least in Australia (You'd have to enquire as this varies from different centres) Unfortunately I don't recall if this is for a one time physical mold or you can keep the information. I know for a digital ear scan, which creates an STL file, it's AUD250 for a one time scan where they will send the scan to the company of your choice, or AUD400 to keep the file (which would be the better deal, IF you're going the custom route as you can send the STL file to multiple companies) I'll have a video coming soon talking about this aspect of the custom IEM adventures Sorry for the long read but hope it helps in some way
All you need is that one perfect eartip that seals your ear to the point it sounds like you’re underwater. A perfect seal will also cause a suction when you try to pull the IEM out of your ear. The only tips that do that for me are Tri Clarion and spring tips. Dunu S&S tips are awesome as well.
@@rnarexperience Surely it's extremely uncomfortable having a hard piece of plastic in your ear canal. The reason we use rubber eartips is so our ears stay comfortable even when moving around. A hard piece of plastic doesn't have leave any room for the movement of your ears.
@@Rsalmond83 I agree that eartips play a part in achieving the perfect seal for universal IEMs, and DUNU S&S eartips are really good at this, I'm also trying the Tri Clarion and also loving it! However it still won't solve an IEM's fit if it's too big for your ears compared to a custom
Depends on what you like on your sound, me personally while I enjoy both, I like the sound on the Grand Maestro more as it brings a little bit more clarity and detail to the sound presentation whereas the SE is a smoother and bassier sounding experience.
There was actually an opportunity to purchase that but funds went to a different project instead so unfortunately I don't think that'll come anytime soon unless I can sell something else to get it, sorry :/
